The contact owns a 2008 Jaguar S-type. The contact stated while driving 35mph, there was debris on the roadway, which caused a blowout of the front passenger’s side tire. The contact then pulled over on the side of the highway and attempted to change the tire; however, the contact was unable to remove the lug nuts. As a result of the lug nut failure, the wrench provided with the vehicle became inoperable. The contact drove the vehicle with the flat tire back to the residence. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle with having poorly designed lug nuts. The vehicle was not repaired but was driven back to the residence. The contact's son who is an independent mechanic was able to bring a special machine needed to remove the lug nuts and repaired the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the failure was a known issue. The manufacturer also advised the contact to bring the vehicle to the nearest dealer which was 60 miles away from the residence for the service. The failure mileage was approximately 49,620.

My wife and I were given a replacement Jaguar S-type on 05/03/2005 by smith CO. Motor cars of charleston, wv. After they were unable to repair a Jaguar x-type that we had bought on 08/26/2004. We then moved to California in 06/2005 and my husband drove the car cross-country to CA without any problems. On 08/05/2005 the car was first presented for a scheduled 10,000 mile maintenance to Jaguar of south bay, 3111 pacific coast highway, torrance, CA. Since then, the car has been returned to them for more than 8 (eight) times, without satisfactory repair. Problems include:
faulty gas tank latch, rhs exhaust hanging lower and scraping pavement, hard transmission shifts, faulty remote transmitter, judder from steering wheel, knocking noise from the engine that ran sluggish, replaced rack & pinion several times, car out of alignment, injectors dirty, rhs lug nut broken because of, according to tech. , non lubrication at factory, jerky gear shifting from 3rd. To 4th. Gears, creaking noise in sunroof and headliner, faulty cd player, faulty power steering pump, faulty air bag light on dash, faulty passenger side fog lamp, faulty rack and pinion valve, leaking washer fluid reservoir, no warnings or messages during these malfunctions from dash instruments, except air bag lamp, faulty bluetooth hands free, etc. Etc. We had told the techs. That both my wife and I have experienced total loss of steering control over 5 times and finally on 08/07/2006, I again loss total control and the car hit into the guard rail and scraped the whole of the rhs of the vehicle. Jaguar would not even give me the free tow that I was entitled to when I called them to inform of the accident and I had to drive the car to my house. I had both my kids ( son 31/2 yrs. Old and daughter 4 months old) in the car with me. On 05/10/2006, we hired an attorney who is still negotiating with Ford motor CO. Who have taken over Jaguar.

: the contact stated that while driving on interstate I-45, the front left tire on the Jaguar S-type deflated, forcing the contact to pull off the road. The vehicle was taken to the tire dealer to replace all 4 tires. When the dealer attempted to remove the lug nut from the front right tire, the lug nut separated from the self centering nipple making it impossible to remove the tire. The other 3 old tires were put back on the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop. As the mechanic attempted to remove another tire, two lug nuts separated in the same wheel. To remove the nipple, the mechanic had to create a groove into the back of the nipple. The dealer advised the contact that the maximum torque for the lug nuts should be 72 foot pounds and all of them were over-tightened by the original dealer. The mechanic was able to fix the problem, and installed and lubricated new lug nuts. The contact returned to the tire dealer and 4 new tires installed on the vehicle.

When I bought the car a week later it blew hot air, I was told it only needed freon. I found out later that there was a leak and it is $1200. A week after that the car would not start the dealer picked the car up and said that the battery was dead because I left the radio on, it has happened over 30 times, not true there is something wrong. I have replaced tires at least six times. Tires completely separate. I was driving and car slowed down on freeway and I was almost hit, I pulled over and it stopped and did it again and I had to push the traction control button, almost cost me my life! it now happens when I hit a bump. When I turn the car makes a extremely loud noise, (embarrassing) I was told it is a ball joint and can catch on fire. Engine light has always been on and is now blinking and the car shakes and hesitates. I had to pay to get the brakes fixed 2 months after purchasing. Radio turns on for no reason and runs battery down. I was told I have two leaks in my shocks and it is $1800 each. When I back up and turn the steering wheel vibrates. I can't even use the cigarette lighter to charge my cell because it does not work and has been replaced twice. The remote just stop working and I was charged $100 to reconfigure. The brakes act funny, can't even explain it. This car is unreal, a complete piece of junk. I can't even remember half the stuff I have endured and the money I have spent.
