Electrical system - my car was parked for two days at a secure airport park and ride. When returning from my trip, when putting the car in reverse the car jerked and rolled out of the parking space. I then proceeded to put the car in drive and it failed to accelerate. The engine and transmission warning lights were illuminated, which put the car in limp mode. I had the car towed to the dealership. Thankfully I was not in high traffic when this happened. If I was traveling at 60 mph and the car went into limp mode there could have been a serious accident. The dealer stated that it was a throttle positioning sensor failure and to correct the problem, the throttle housing would have to be replaced at a cost of $1600. 00. The warranty had expired 3 months earlier. This car has less than 48,000 miles on it and is only driven in city traffic. This has to be a defect with this unit, especially since it failed while the car was parked without warning. This is definitely a safety issue. If this unit had failed on the interstate (I live in the metro atlanta area) it could have caused a major accident with possible injuries.
