The contact owns a 2009 Jaguar Xf. The contact stated that while attempting to stop at an intersection, he engaged the brakes and the brake pedal sunk into the floorboard. The contact also mentioned that the transmission failed to shift into gear. In addition, the check engine warning light was continuously illuminated and the vehicle decelerated independently and without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the catalytic converter was defective, the brake lines were corroded and the gear box needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 44,000 and the current mileage was 71,000.
