Check Engine Light On Problems of Jaguar XJ8

The contact owns a 1998 Jaguar Xj8. The contact stated that the vehicle would stall without warning when driving at higher speeds of approximately 75 mph. The check engine warning light would illuminate after the failure occurred. The vehicle was not inspected or repaired. The failure mileage was 98,000 and the current mileage was 101,000.

2005 Jaguar Xj8l. Consumer writes in regards to intermittent engine light malfunctions the consumer stated at approximately 38,000 miles, he began to experience warning light messages such as engine fault, brake fault and dsc fault. Immediately following the display of the engine light, the engine lost power and the vehicle immediately coasted to a complete stop. The consumer stated the engine loosing power happened several times. Several components were replaced. However, the problem would always return.

Vehicle gets to operating temperature and the check engine light comes on. Then it goes into restricted performance mode. This prohibits the vehicle from exceeding 3000 rpm. On acceleration the car hesitates and bucks. On occasion at start up the engine rpms are uncontrolled-going from 200 to 3500. The car will not accelerate safely in this mode. Car has been to the dealer, an independent mechanic and they have conference with Jaguar in the uk with no success.

While driving, intermittently the engine light would illuminate. Please provide more information.

Vehicle's fail safe engine mode light keeps coming on. This resulted in the vehicle losing power. The owners manual indicated not to drive the vehicle when this light came on. The dealership has serviced the vehicle 5 times but cannot fix the problem.
