Transmission Gear Slipping problems of the 1999 Jeep Cherokee

One problem related to transmission gear slipping has been reported for the 1999 Jeep Cherokee. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Transmission Gear Slipping problem

The rear axle has a egineering defect, admitted by Chrysler, that cause the transmission to slip at start and stop. They have said some cars have it and some don't. Mine does. The rental they gave me which was identical didn't have the problem. I have had it in 4 times in 6 months and they have finally told me they consider it "within limits" even though some of the same vehcile don't have the problem an others are really bad. I can't even resell the vehicle due to the problem. They "altered" my transmission where it attaches to the axle to "assist" the problem. They also "altered" the springs. I'm concerned what they actually did to my care and it's safety at this point.
