44 Body problem

Failure Date: 07/14/2015

Shortly after starting our 1500 mile trip on July 14 crossing a bridge the monaco diesel pusher motorhome towing a 2014 Jeep Cherokee 4x4 latitude with active drive ii shook badly front-to-back and side-to-side and would not stop until I pulled over to the side of the road. Normally a bump will cause the mh to shake front-to-back momentarily. I got out and checked around and under both vehicles and found nothing amiss. Got in and headed on our trip. A couple of times that day the mh shook when hitting a bump but not as violently as earlier. No more shaking on the trip and no apparent damage. The Jeep had been disengaged and reengaged from the motorhome a couple of times with no sign of damage. We traveled from bryce canyon national park to capital reef np on 20 July over a curvy, hilly highway. At capitol reef we disconnected the Jeep and found the passenger side tow bar/tab had damaged the shroud in the front of the Jeep. We drove the mh and Jeep separately to moab, ut for repairs. When the mechanic removed the lower front shroud on the Jeep and inspected the damage he found the welds on the Jeep aluminum bracket that the tow-bar base-plate was fastened to were broken on the passenger side and cracked on the driver's side. We continued driving both separately to our home.

3 months after ordering my Jeep the transmission started shifting really hard and making noises, then started to leak fluid. Took it in to the shop where they couldn't move it from the show floor. The transmission was bad. Took them 30 + days to get my car back to me. Didn't install the transmission correctly and they broke the guard, as well as the passenger door handle fell off. After multiple return trips to correct the hard shifting this car was deemed a lemon.

Note: this issue is with the 2014 Jeep grand Cherokee ecodiesel engine: on the 1st occurrence, after merging on highway with 4 passengers, at approximately 55-60 mpg, vehicle began to violently shudder/vibrate, with shuddering steering wheel difficult to control. Shuddering stopped when removing foot from accelerator, and started shuddering again when I began accelerating. It happened several more times on the way home, and has continued to vibrate/shudder intermittently every day since. It seems to primarily happen around 7th/8th gear at 55-60mph, but has also happened going around 40mph. Research shows this is a common problem with the 2014 ecodiesel engine, and could very easily cause a fatal accident.

57 Body problem

Failure Date: 10/06/2014

The Jeep Cherokee has a plastic skid plate underneath. The first incident happened when I hit a puddle of water, pulling the front edge of the skid plate loose. At that point, anytime my speed reached 45mph it would vibrate, making a very loud noise. I called the dealership and took it in the next morning. The tech said he sees this all the time, the plate is held on with plastic bolts. They repaired in 30 min, no paperwork. The same thing happened again in feb2015. I took the vehicle in to the dealership for an oil change and asked that they re-secure the skid plate. I was advise it was done. It happened again in mar2015, and I returned to the same dealership for this problem, along with several recalls. I was told they would put metal screws in to repair it. The 4th time it happend was june2015, mileage appx 7500. This time was much worse than prior, as when the skid plate came loose, the plastic was flipped under so it was dragging the ground at all times (not just vibrating at increase speed).

5 recalls since I bought it brand new September 2014 . When you step on the gas, car sometimes won't move then jerks into motion & other times it starts off in 3rd gear. Soon after purchase, noticed extreme condensation inside windows. Back right floor board was soaked with water? & condensation under the right front seat. Dealership can't figure it out. Most recently ,radio display not working properly. Noticed getting shocked when opening the door. Rear hatch sometimes won't open the the power lift button is pushed.
