Why does a service shifter notes appear on the dashboard of my 2015 Jeep Cherokee latitude? thank you.
Check engine light on 2015 Jeep Cherokee sport turned on, vehicle "went limp". Pulled over, turned car off, waited, turned car back on. Happened again taking car to dealership. The dealership said "code for trans range sensor p1726. Reset trans and test drove. Code did not come back". Same thing happened again a week later. Took it to firestone, code was "tcm p1726-00 transmission manage sensor "c" circuit high. They said it sounded like the recall number 16v529000/s55. I took it back to the dealership, they said the recall, despite being for a 2015 Jeep Cherokee didn't apply and noted "same code p1726 set in tcm. Going to need range sensor and tcm replaced. ".
The vehicle suddenly started showing parking brake, traction, abs, and check engine lights after being started. Earlier in the day, I had also started the vehicle but cancelled the errands and returned to start it later when the dashboard and warning lights came on. Putting it in reverse, the steering was stiff as if in neutral. Never left the driveway as I wasn't taking a chance in steering or braking. The battery is less than a year old. This is the second time this has happened.
Vehicle was driving and working just as it should, up until two mornings ago, I start the Jeep, shifted into gear and it got stuck in neutral. Service parking brake came on, traction control claims to be on even after pushing the button a couple different times to try and disengage it, odometer flashes when car is fully on(not in acc mode), check engine light is on. Battery was recently replaced and is good so it’s not the battery. Jeep still starts, but is still stuck in neutral as of yesterday morning(9-23-2025).
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the contact stated that the power liftgate became inoperable when the contact attempted to engage the power liftgate. The contact had to enter the vehicle and manually opened the power liftgate. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 23v338000 (electrical system, structure); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the power liftgate module had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired, and the dealer confirmed that parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 102,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
Electronic gear shifter light appears on dashboard check gear shifter.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power in the middle of the roadway and was unable to restart. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who determined that water had entered the vehicle, resulting in water damages to the rf radio hub. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 89,000.
Electrical system/transmission malfunctioned causing engine to shift into neutral while driving and cause engine to shut down and refuse to start again. The issue seems to only happen whenever the engine is up to temperature and the fan is active. The vehicle has been inspected by a dealership and they said the throttle body was the issue, after replacement the issue still persists. There is no warning lights or symptoms. It will happen either at rest or in motion. I was driving yesterday and it happened after I had completed a lane change and was almost hit by a semi. This is not the first instance of it occurring.
After driving a vehicle for a few minutes the lights will flash pretty badly, the service transmission light comes on, on the dash and the car enters limp mode, and the fan comes on, you are unable to move the vehicle it will not go forward or backwards. The vehicle runs perfectly smooth until this happens without warning. Additionally, the service air bag light came on, on the dash but if you turn the car off and back on the lights will go away and you can resume activity as usual. The cars lights and horn goes crazy even when you are not in the vehicle or driving it and does not have to be on when it does this. Now the vehicle has a service engine light on and diagnostics have been done and one part has been changed but this did not resolve the issue which was a purge solenoid and the oil filter housing which also did not resolve the issue. This vehicle is very dangerous to drive as it will go into limp mode while driving it.
Ptu went out they replaced it it was still not working and they said OH well now ptu is still out and it rolls in park won’t shift when pulling out and is very scary to have my kids in this death trap.
After learning of the recall for the lift gate module because of water intrusions of multiple points. The wiring harness to the lift gate module was serverly corroded and had to be replaced. The original fix, without the corrosion on the harness, was the place a piece of plastic over the module. That recall and fix did nothing to address the issues of multiple points of water intrusions. From body seems, the seal around the hatch, and around the tail light(s). There is more than one harness, and more than one module in the tire well. The multiple water leaks, that can and have affected an electrical component the was deemed as being a potential to start a fire, and none of the others in there are. There needs to be a recall on the water leaks, from their poor design! I have saw first hand how badly the harness they had to replace, along with the lift gate module. Because of the very seriousness of the corrosion. Where they not only replaced both of them, but also had to relocate the lift gate module, because of the evidence of the amount on water that has been entering the cargo, and wheel well areas! à 11 year old vehicle, from the information I have read up on, many with this same production years are also having the issues of water intrusions! hold them responsible, instead of letting them cut corners of just trying to put a umbrella over there recall! I don't have pictures now, or when I took it to the dealership originally for the recall. But I am willing to take pictures, as I'm still in the process of disassembly the interior to try and pin point all the water intrusions! the dealership I took it to for the recall work, said they are "not aware of any water intrusions on this vehicle". That's a big problem!!.
My parking brake turned on by itself when I started my 2015 Jeep Cherokee and would not turn off. The parking brake light also came on. It is available for inspection. My safety and others safety was put at risk because my car could have stopped running while I was driving. I will be taking it to my local Jeep dealership to have it looked at. I have had a mechanic look at it but was told he could not fix it.
Na.
Driving through [xxx] in belfair, wa my 2015 Jeep Cherokee trailhawk with the 2. 4l started running rough and was jerking. As I entered the turn lane the service park brake light flashed, my Jeep jerked to a stop and the emergency brake was turned on while I was still in drive. I could not get the emergency brake to release even after putting my vehicle into park and pressing the brake pedal. I turned the Jeep off then back on but the emergency brake was still stuck on. I had to shut the Jeep off and get out of my vehicle on a very busy highway to get my tools from the spare tire cargo. Upon retrieving my tools I noticed several inches of standing water in the spare tire area. I then popped my hood, disconnected the battery then reconnected the battery. This allowed the emergency brake to release so I could drive to the nearest parking lot. I was along an extremely busy state highway for almost 10 minutes and nearly got hit by other vehicles including school busses and big rigs! my Jeep was towed to my home in shelton, wa where further inspection showed water had been leaking from the lift gate. I removed all panels and found almost 4 inches of water where my spare sits, mold, water and moisture on and around the ecu and the automatic braking system and rust. The seals are good but when it rains the water finds its way in! these pictures are from after when I used my shop vac to get the water out. I found there is a recall for the exact same thing but only for power lift gates. I do not have a power lift gate but this is a major safety issue and should be recalled whether the 2015 Jeep Cherokee trailhawk has a power lift gate or manual lift gate! a quick internet search shows so many other Jeep owners without the power lift gate have the same issue and complaints! information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Hi, there are numbers of recalls and 3 of the recalls came back. I got engine light with the codes u0402 implausible data received from tcm u0164 lost communication with hvac control module tcm bcm and pcm needs to be reprogrammed or replaced. Also car is accelerating while cruise control is set. Fca satisfaction notice - r01 fca recall - s55 NHTSA recall - 16v - 529 fca recall - u63 NHTSA recall - 18v - 332 these 3 recalls need to be redone. Thanks.
It was recalled before for water getting into the trunk causing electrical issues(even fires). I brought it to a dealership to have it fixed, water is still getting into my vehicle. Dealership said there is nothing we can do since the recall is gone.
Good morning. I am contacting you in regards to my 2015 Jeep Cherokee. In summary, I am having issues with the transmission and upon further investigation I believe the issue is identical/related to recall campaign 16v529000. I do not feel safe driving the vehicle and would very much appreciate the issue be investigated. Thank you.
Experiencing description included in NHTSA action number: pe22009 the electronic parking brake is troublesome and often times has trouble engaging/disengaging.
The service shifter light comes on intermittently on my 2015 Jeep Cherokee latitude. Service shifter light comes on dash and all lights on the shifter assembly are solid red. The service shifter light will not go off until the car is turned off and back on. It causes the heads up display to be blocked until the vehicle is turned off to reset the lights. The transmission feels like it is missing a gear or slipping between gears just before the service shifter light comes on. It does not have a solid time that it comes on. You can be driving down the road and it just comes on or you can be putting the car into reverse and it comes on. The jumper and bezel along with the shifter assembly has been replaced 2 times already. The first time it was replaced at my cost on April 8, 2022. The second time was replaced on November 30, 2023. My vehicle will be going into the dealership again because the service shifter light has come on again on July 14, 2024. This is a known issue and no one is doing anything about it after 90 plus complaints have already been filed with you.
My 2015 Jeep Cherokee started having strange electrical issues. Sometimes the automatic lift gate would not open or close. Sometimes the parking brake would engage and not release. At times the parking brake would engage and I would not be able to drive the car. It would engage within seconds of starting to drive the car, leaving the car lurching forward or unable to move (in the middle of the street). I noticed there seemed to be water leaking into the car around the back right near the power lift gate. I managed to disengage the emergency brake to drive the car to the mechanic. The mechanic could not get the brake released and had to tow the car to an electrical specialist. I paid around $2000 for a new harness for the park break as well as other issues related to the water damage corroding the electrical equipment at the power lift gate. 16 months later and I am having the same issue again. I brought the Jeep to the dealer and they told me the brakes are corroded in addition to the recall on the power lift gate. I believe this (corroded brakes) may also be from the lift gate water leak issue. The recall repair will take months I am told. In the meantime I cannot open the lift gate and so cannot have a diagnostic done on the water leak at the lift gate that continues to enter into the electrical system at the back of the car (liftgate area), likely doing more damage again to the other electrical components such as brake release and brakes. I called the recall line at Chrysler to ask for an expedited recall service and they declined, saying the vehicle is safe to drive. Please there must be a recall on the water leaks causing all of these electrical safety issues.
Parking brake automatically engaged and left me stranded. I had it towed to the dealer and they found water in the spare tire compartment dealer . The repair tech said that water had damaged the parking brake module as well as others . I do not live in any area that has been flooded.
I've done searches with carfax and there's 4 or more recalls on my Jeep but it's not wanting to do anything now it won't even start I just drove it and the night before and I believe there's an electrical problem a transmission problem and I don't know what else and yes the car financial place knows about it and the place where I bought it from.
El problema del carro está en los cambios . El carro se apaga emos pasado varias veces por riesgos . Sé a llevado varias veces a reglar. Y vuelve hacer lo mismo . Reporte recall w47.
Jeep has never been in accident properly and regularly maintained when driving on freeway all of the sudden out of nowhere service airbag system and service park brake pop up I was fearful for my life when getting home not knowing if airbags will work heaven forbid I get in car accident or car may roll over onto street because park brake is not working I went to dealership and asked what's wrong with viechole did manufacturer put in faulty airbags or installed broken brake they refused to tell me what the issue is unless I pay them over $500 just to know what's wrong with car I told them car was never in accident properly maintenanced the problem has to be with manufacturer they said unless I pay $500 they will not tell me what's wrong with the Jeep please investigate Jeep for failed car parts.
Service shifter error comes on and off consistently -- dealer said that this error is known and common and has been going on for many many years. There is no "fix" to the problem and replacing the entire console is the only way to try to remediate the problem but this often does not work. It is incredibly expensive to concerning.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the parking brake error message was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that there was a crack on the vehicle near the lift gate and water had entered the spare tire compartment. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the wiring harness and module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA campaign number: 23v338000 (electrical system, structure). The failure mileage was approximately 128,000.
The electronic parking brake has malfunctioned because water has leaked into the liftgate. Jeep is replacing the power liftgate module because if water leaks into the car, this could cause a fire if the water reaches the module. Water is in my car and has destroyed the e-brake system causing it to go on and off unexpectedly and now I can't drive the car. According to an odi resume, "on may 11, 2016, the manufacturer released a technical service bulleting (odi #10191415, fca #08-060-16) that instructs dealers on replacing the epb module and inspecting the electrical connector for corrosion if a customer describes having the epb not releasing. " Jeep is willing to replace the power liftgate module - recall 49a - but not the epb for the exact same reason. The dealer agrees with my assessment, but without Chrysler willing to cover the cost, they are not able to replace the epb system for free and want to charge me $1000. Several lights are going off on the dashboard - service park brake, the brake light and now the stop/start function is disabled.

Randomly an audible alarm sounds and the dash indicates "service shifter" while the digital dashboard indicators do not allow to navigate away from that notice, and all of the lights on the transmission indicators illuminate. I called the dealer and they said they were aware of issues with that, but no recall exists. I googled the "service shifter" and my model vehicle and apparently it's a larger problem than the dealer indicated on the phone. I was advised to turn the vehicle off, open the door, close the door, and restart the vehicle. The error cleared but later intermittently reappears.
