Car seems to down shift, shift into nuetral, shift or jump out of gear. Service shifter light keeps coming on. Has happened while vehicle was in motion on a city street.
Just purchased 2015 Cherokee, when first accelerating it hesitates and seems to not shift correctly and then eventually "kicks in" and jerks hard. Causes major issues while in traffic. Also sounds like its going to shut off when sitting stationary and idling.
I have a 2015 Jeep Cherokee limited 4x4, when I try to slow down or stop the vehicle will speed up. It is like you are giving it gas instead of applying the break. It was purchased with around 13500 miles on the odometer on 9-22-2018, it now has 21360 miles as of 11-27-2018. The transmission completely stopped working on the highway in traffic. The transmission would not make the vehicle move and acted as if it was not in any gear. It has seamed to have issues from the time I purchased it and I was told by a Jeep dealership that it was just the normal way that the 9 speed transmission worked. If this is normal for a transmission to fail at 21000 miles I feel that is a major concern and a huge issue.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated while driving at an undetermined speed, the vehicle was bouncing. The contact stated while driving, the vehicle was shifting roughly. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. Additionally, on another occasion while driving, the vehicle independently accelerated. The manufacturer was contacted but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
The car lurches forward when stopped and has started the car has physically started jumping forward while and seem to have a lot of trouble changing from one gear to the next. I had the car in when I first purchased it and they could find nothing wrong. It has done this off and on since I have owned the car.
Tl- the contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that the vehicle did not start. The check-engine, service transmission and four drive not available lights illuminated. The contact also stated that when the vehicle was put in drive, the vehicle jerked and did not move. The service transmission light illumination. The vehicle was shut off and restarted. The warning cleared and the failure recurred after a couple of days. The vehicle was taken to the golling Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram \248-334-3600, located at ,2405 s telegraph rd, bloomfield hills, mi 48302) where the technician was unable to diagnose the failures. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and told the contact to take the vehicle to another dealer and to call the NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000. Fe.
Driving on the highway, my vehicle transmission unexpectedly shifts to neutral, and it shows on my board as " service transmission". It can not speed up suddenly. Then it will go back to normal after I parked and drive. It happened twice already on the highway. Feel very dangerous.
Jeep Cherokee transmission issue. The car has had acceleration issues from the very start. But recently at only 38k miles the transmission totally failed on me and would not allow me to accelerate on the highway. This failure was very dangerous but luckily I was able to get off the highway without incident. After turning the car off for a long while the check engine light was still on but transmission seemed to be fine. Now the check engine light is off, but I still plan on taking it to the dealer after reading that this is a known issue and tends to reoccur. My wife is now scared to use this car. How can a company get away with cheating customers this way?.
I need to file a complaint against Jeep. The transmission in my 2015 Cherokee is awful and a safety concern. The vehicle jerks around so much when I'm driving it, I'm concerned it's eventually going to cause an accident. In traffic it punches forward and stops abruptly because of the transmission. I have taken it back to try to get it fixed and have been told that's just how it is. It's awful that I spent so much money on this vehicle I'm actually scared to drive. Anytime I have a passenger they comment on how the car jerks and unpleasant it is to ride in. I thought it was just me getting a lemon and something I have to deal with but I went online today and there are so many other 2015 Cherokee latitude owners with the same problem. It's really terrible and the company should be ashamed because this is going to lead to many accidents.
The transmission shifts hard and sometimes skips gears. It will shift very late and do a jolt and it feels likes I was hit by another car, gives a slight whiplash feeling to the passengers. Sometimes when I go from reverse to drive the back wheels lock up and the back half of the car lowers to the ground while the front of the vehicle rises. The vehicle also sometimes accelerates on its' own when I don't have my foot on the gas. I can be driving at any point around 20-30mph and my rpms will jump to 3000+ and the engine makes loud noises like it is being overworked to go 20 mph and it will stay like that for a good 4-8 seconds. All of these problems have drastically decreased the mpg my car gets. All of these problems are when the car is in motion. The "start/stop" feature also has many problems. If I forget to turn it off I can be at a red light and once it turns green I let go of the brake and go to hit the gas and the car is still in the process of starting back up, takes anywhere between 1-3 seconds to startup. This has almost caused me to get into several accidents. I don't feel safe in this car anymore. It was fine up until about 30,000 miles, but it has gone down hill since then. I am at about 45,000 miles right now.
My car has exactly 50,000 miles and has been maintained impeccably to start. On March 30th after it had rained the previous day, while driving on the bonnet carre spillway going approximately 60mph my lift gate seemed to unlatch and end result my backpack containing my laptop hundreds of dollars worth of textbooks and my apple ipad flew out. When I pulled over the lift gate refused to hatch as well as the button in the car and on the fob to close the trunk would not work. Not only have I lost at least $850 worth of my electronics and textbooks I am left with the risk that anyone can get in my car via the lift gate that will not close and potentially steal my car. On April 2nd 2018 after leaving work from the hospital I was driving on regular traffic roads between 35-55 miles per hour and my Jeep was shifting into neautral slowing down and the rpm gauge was accelerating to 4-5 for only 35 miles per hour. I then called the dealership to find out there is a recall in which I was never notified by anyone and my VIN was ineligible but if it was I would have to leave my car and pay for the expense of a rental car. I am a widowed mother and a loyal customer to Jeep as this is my third Jeep and I am stuck with this vehicle that is riddled with constant recalls that is unsafe for my 4 year old and 15 month child and I am on a single income and unable to pay for repair expenses or a rental car and I do not have the option to miss work or school. Can you inform me why my VIN is not associated with the recall and I am having all the issues that are currently recalled and why would I not be reimbursed or provided with the necessary funds to cover the repair and or a rental vehicle?.
Brake pedal that slings forward after releasing and making a slamming noise, plastic parts just falling off inside from under the dash, the trim falling off on the outside, the obvious transmission, the power liftgate releasing and refusing to close on its own, the display screen blinking and occasionally refusing to respond, the tire pressure gage indicating a warning of pressure to 51psi then seconds later changing to 31psi (this one occured after the latest software update), gps is unbelievably unreliable, uconnect takes control when not given permission, start/stop button does not work everytime. Shutting the vehicle off has been difficult. Alt feature does not work about half the time, battery has had to be replaced two times. The inside liner around the roof not attached, the left back wheel the trim is popped off. The vehicle refused to go when at a busy intersection 4 days ago and almost caused a collision. Gas pedal was pushed down for 5 seconds before it started to move.
Transmission slamming hard in rd3 and 4th gear in motion, engine stalling at stop, refusing to start. All trim falling off inside and out. Took to dealer they said nothing wrong. Took back again 2 months later they said software update would fix it. Fixed for about a week then all started again. They didn't even address the trim and liner issue. Gps also completely off and it wont update either. I purchased this in 2016 Dec. The entire thing is just falling apart plastic pieces are falling out from under the dash! cant get help and paid 2500 extra for warranty they wont fix a non fixable issue.
Tl- the contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that the vehicle did not accelerated when started and sometimes, the vehicle accelerated on its own. There was no warning. The vehicle was taken to the cochran Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram dealer (724-901-1014, located at 110 rte 908, natrona heights, PA 15065) where the technician was unable to duplicate the failure. The failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back the same dealer and the technician updated the computer. The failure recurred and the "service the shifter" light illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer where the shifter module was greased. The failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and told the contact to take the vehicle to another dealer. The vehicle was not taken to another dealer and the failure was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000. Fe.
I parked the Jeep and turned it off and when inside for 10 minutes and started the car to leave and a bunch of lights came on like service engine and drive train. I put it in reverse and a huge clunk from the transmission happened I backed up and put it in forward and a huge clunk happened again. It shocked the whole car. I went forward and it barley would go. It took along time to get up to speed. It kind of shook and was really scarey. I brought it to the Jeep dealer and barely made it. The guy said the techs where all gone for the day. I couldn't leave it there so I started it back up and it worked fine. The check engine light was still on though. The next day I started it up and the light was off. It worked fine for 3 days until it all happened again the same stuff. So I turned it off and started it 10 minutes later and it was fine. It is a leased Jeep and I am going to bring it in this Friday. I want this fixed. I have read lots of the same problems with 100s of other people and it sounds like they are just giving people the run around. This is very unsafe and I want a new Jeep or a new transmission. I do not have any time to be going back to the dealership all the time or do I want to die in a car accident. The next thing that happens a that people are saying is that it will shift out of gear on the freeway and lots of people have almost crashed because of this. Thank you please let me know what you will do about this.
I just bought the car as a certified pre owned form a Dodge dealer. My transmission is already going out . Today on the freeway the car accelerated from 65 mph to 75 mph on its own. My foot was not on the accelerator.
The service transmission message came across the screen and the vehicle lost ability to accelerate. This occurred on an interstate at 72 mph in the fast lane.
While driving on the freeway at 65mph, the car gave me a "transmission service" alarm and then the car lost power and eventually stopped. No response to acceleration and eventually to steering control. I turned off the engine and waited approximately 3 minutes, turned the key and then the car started and was able to drive it with no issues. It was a dangerous situation that could have ended with catastrophic consequences. The car was bought from overseas military sales in sicily, italy and the incident occurred in sicily.
The vehicle accelerates when I am trying to slow down. This happened top me while driving in my neighborhood and happened to me while driving down the highway. Almost caused me to hit another vehicle. Had this issue before when car was almost brand new, took it to the dealership and they flashed the system. Said it was a recall. Car drove fine for a while but now I am having the same issue again.
Transmission malfunction at high rate of speed on interstate, lost power and ability to accelerate while traveling on interstate. To repair a software upgrade was run on the vehicle. I have verified that no recall existed for my vehicle despite the fact that transmission software problem was known by Chrysler. Some vehicles had been recalled but my vehicle has not been included despite the fact that it contains the same 9 speed transmission that has failed. This incident occurred at high rate of speed on interstate with heavy traffic and caused a significant risk of crash.
While braking the car abruptly downshifts and causes the vehicle to accelerate. I have noticed the longer I drive the vehicle, it will happen while I am slowing down at higher speeds at well. Also, a slow response to acceleration at times. I have taken the Jeep to the dealership and they have flashed and updated my transmission but they said it was fixed but it was not. It is incredibly dangerous to drive this car especially when trying to brake because it will speed up by itself and merging into hwy or fast moving traffic.
I was driving home from work 9/20/2016. My service transmission light came on and I lost power in my gas pedal. Would not go. I pulled over and put it in park. Put it back in drive and it was fine for a few more miles then did it again. I drove it straight to the mechanic. The computer said it was the throttle control module. He reset it and updated it. I got it back last night. I was driving to work today nad it was fine until I got on the interstate and it did it again, light came on and my car immediately slowed down. This is not safe at all. I have read many many complaints about this issue and I believe Jeep should be responsible for this. I will be trading this vehicle as soon as possible.
Traveling on highway at approximately 65 mph about 1 hour into trip, vehicle started emitting transmission warnings and parking brake malfunction and saying to place the car in park. Vehicle lost ability to accelerate even though the vehicle was in drive. Vehicle only has 11,000 miles on it. Driver was able to coast to the side of the highway. Placed car in park and restarted - errors still emitting and shifting in to drive caused the car to jolt. Tow truck was called.
My Jeep Cherokee latitude 2015 accelerate it self . It's under warranty and the dealer can't solve the problem. When the rpm come back to 1000 you can feel how the trans jump and the car accelerate it self.
Takata recall, having issues with the computer stating that the vehicle four wheel drive is disabled and off, then was sitting at traffic light on 6/16/16 and its like the vehicle cut off ( to save energy) and then when it cut back on it had accelerated car to making me hit someone in the rear end. Unsure as to what is going on but dealer ship last did oil change at 17,000 miles and it came out with check engine on and they said nothing to worry about and cleared the code out. Then the four wheel drive message keeps coming up ( even when not in four wheel drive haven't even hit the button to switch it over) illuminates on message center. Seems like car has issues with something computer or electrical but most of all how safe is this vehicle if can rev up and accelerate without touching gas pedal. Have moderate damage to front end of car, tow hook was pushed back into the front of it and cant open hood having adjuster look at today and take to garage unsure as to what happened or why but doesn't seem very safe and it hit pretty hard but airbag on driver side didn't deploy makes it scary to think what if it decides to deploy while driving now. . .
I purchased my Jeep at garden city Jeep on 06/06/16 & the vehicle test drove fine (for the 10 minutes I got to drive the vehicle). Upon owning it for a few days I noticed that there was a wobble in the front end when traveling between 0-20mph specifically when the vehicle shifted between 1st & 2nd gear when going both straight or making a right turn. I also noticed very poor transmission shifting primarily at low speeds, in stop & go traffic, in parking lot (traveling slow), when reversing, & even when traveling at moderate speeds (30-60mph) when the vehicle would shift up & down between 4th, 5th, & 6th. The trans would jerk, tug, & clunk into gear sometimes more noticeable then others. I took the car to the dealer & the wobble was fixed. In addition the dealer flashed the software on my trans & for the first day it felt considerably better however after driving it for 2 weeks the trans felt very sluggish again. The car now jerks between 1st, 2nd, & 3rd gear again primarily at low speeds or during gentle accleration. . . It also seems to feel very sluggish in 4th & 5th gear when the car is coasting around 30-55mph. . . Any acceleration after letting the car coast causes the trans to jerk into gear. Almost 100% of the time now when I am waiting at a red light, or am stopped on the road for any reason, & then need to accelerate unless I accelerate very aggressively the car feels as if it is shifting 3 to 5 times however the car is only in 2nd or 3rd gear. It almost seems as if it is shifting up, up, down, up all over the course of 1-2 seconds. Sometimes this can be violent enough to jerk my head forward & back. Separately, upon deceleration the rpms will spike 500-1000 rpms when letting it coast & downshift on its own & the car will actually speed up on its own. Separately, when accelerating after coasting the trans lags and I receive no power until 1-2 seconds either.
Most recent incident: 5/25/16, en route home from work, northern state parkway. Vehicle accelerated, while moving with traffic with three car lengths between myself and car in front of me from 35mph to 60mph. I almost rear-ended the vehicle in front of me. Approximately 20 minutes later, the vehicle decelerated from 40mph to an almost stop without my hitting the brakes and I was almost hit from behind. I came to a full stop upon exiting the parkway, when I attempted to accelerate to move forward and merge into traffic on south oyster bay road, my vehicle did not move more than rolling ahead. I 'floored it' in an attempt to move into traffic, as there was now a car approaching quickly, and my vehicle did not accelerate as it should have; it continued to roll along. My vehicle is currently at the westbury Jeep Chrysler Dodge service center 111 bond st. Westbury, NY 11590 1(516)333-2666 my most recent Chrysler case #: 29373159 case manager: crystal; 1(800)763-8422 ext. 40505 I have had ongoing issues with my vehicle since signing a lease in December 2014. The seats incessantly squeak, with no remedy. The car has been pulling, jerking, accelerating, and decelerating on its own. This problem has escalated to an unsafe status and I am unable to safely drive my vehicle. Chrysler corporation has deemed there is nothing wrong with my vehicle, yet it continues to accelerate and decelerate without my initiation of such actions. The vehicle has an unsafe delay in acceleration when I do attempt to merge onto a highway, for example. This vehicle is not functioning at a safe standard and the company is claiming nothing wrong and safe to drive. I have had far too many near-wrecks because of delayed acceleration, and the vehicle accelerating and decelerating on its own. Please help me.
I was traveling on a main highway at 62 mph. Suddenly the car lurched and the rpm's shot up to 4000. The car was immediately going 70 mph. I had to slam on the brakes so I didn't ram the car ahead of me.
Tl-the contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee latitude. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the vehicle would not change gears when prompted and would not accelerate. In addition, there was a smell of burning rubber and a clicking noise that came from the transmission. The vehicle was taken to be diagnosed but the dealer could not duplicate the issue. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 7,000. Ad.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. While attempting to accelerate from a traffic light, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, there was hesitation between the time the accelerator pedal was depressed and when the transmission engaged. Also, on several occasions when the accelerator pedal was depressed, there was a hesitation and then the vehicle lunged forward. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on several occasions to be diagnosed, but the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 5,000.
We purchased our 2015 Jeep Cherokee new and within a few months of driving the Jeep we started to notice what I would call horrible lag issues. The car would drive jerky and when the car was at a stop and you applied the gas to go, it would seem like it wasn't getting the gas and will have a hard time accelerating. We took the car in and they detected the problem and said they did a computer update. Shortly after, the Jeep started a very scary self acceleration where the car would accelerate on its own and take off without applying gas or having foot on gas pedal. The Jeep would lunge so violently and it was hard to make it stop and tried to lunge thru the braking. I have taken the car back it several times as both of these issues happen and makes it very dangerous to drive. My daughter was almost in a horrible collision with a large truck and rear ended because the car was lagging so bad making a right hand turn from a red light. Thankfully the truck was able to swerve around us and we didn't get hit. We initiated the lemon law on this Jeep as it is too dangerous to drive. The Jeep has been in for servicing many times and the problem has still not been resolved. I have googled this online and found other Jeep owners with exact frightening concerns. Very upsetting and dangerous. I have the documentation for all the times the car has been to service for this and they understand the problem and said they have other Jeeps with same concerns.
When pusking the gas pedal from a complete stop, the car hesitates before engaging and then when it does engage, it accelerates at a high rate of speed and when slowing down it does not stop as quickly because the transmission is still engaged at a higher gear thus making rear impacts likely. Trying to make a turn either left or right in a high traffic congested area, it is almost impossible to to merge with the traffic quickly because of this hesitation. I feel like I am taking my life in my hands every time I drive this vehicle. This is a safety concern and should be treated as such.
The vehicle service engine light keeps coming on, service transmission light comes on. Vehicle shifts in and out of gear on its own. Parking brake activates on its own. The start/stop malfunction light comes on. It has been towed in to dealership 3 times. These problems have occurred while vehicle was in motion.
-revving up on its own when in park. Sometimes I have to wait up to a minute for it to settle down so I can put in into drive (original issue that only seems to have been exacerbated from the software update). -rpms spike when downshifting causing a slight acceleration -speeds up without my foot on the gas pedal -lurches forward 90% of the time when I take my foot off the brake, this is unsafe in traffic conditions -lurches forward when I put it into drive. -sticks in park, drive or reverse.
The vehicle hesitates when starting from a stop or accelerating from a turn or other slowing. When I add power the vehicle will lurch forward sometimes squealing the tires. This is particularly dangerous when turning left ahead of oncoming traffic. The vehicle hesitates while accelerating to pass or merge into highway traffic. The transmission software has been updated but the problem was made worse. The transmission has been replaced by Jeep/Chrysler but the problem remains. The Chrysler service representative told me that the vehicle is designed to not shift into first gear unless it comes to a complete stop. This causes the vehicle to "bog down" when coming out of a turn. This is very troubling when turning left ahead of oncoming traffic. The natural reaction is to add power. This causes the transmission to shift into first gear and lurch the vehicle forward. I've made a complaint thru the Chrysler customer care center. After another visit to the dealership I was told "the vehicle is performing as designed. " if that is the case then why did they replace the transmission? this vehicle is not safe to drive.
