We bought this car for my 17-year-old son from carfax. It seemed great for a few months, but the engine starting shutting off while he was driving the car on the busy roads of houston. When we put oil in the car, the engine shutoff stops, but it comes back within a month. It is very dangerous. He has had a number of close calls. Please help!.
Car shut off while driving on the freeway. Thankfully coasted to the side of the freeway with minimal use of the steering wheel. I put it in park and got it to start again. Then it occurred again a few minutes later after I had exited the freeway on a side street. Again put the car in park and then got it to restart again. Very dangerous. All of this with a baby in the backseat.
I drive a 2019 Jeep grand charokee latitude. I approached a stop light last month at a major intersetion and the engine shut off. The car behind me almost rearended me with my new born. Omg this car is not safe to drive if it just shuts off for no reason. Later this month the front suspension started making alot of noise. The car has 43000 miles. Observed the passanger side strut mount clip that keep the strut from seperating from wheel wheel loose. Strut failed and caused issues with drive train. Car is on blocks in my garage know awaiting struts and strut mounts. The Jeep used a very small plastic clip to secure the top part of the strut, so in my case when the strut failed, the clip came loose and almost seperated leaveing the top of strut un-attached to anything omg! this a hug safty issue. Why has NHTSA not investigated this poor design. A placstic clip to hold a strut that is supporting the front end of a vehicle!!.
Fast forward to Nov or Dec of 2020- my vehicle did the same thing, completely shut down while I was driving on the expressway. On i35 going about 65-70 mph. again, I called the dealership was told it sounded like a maintenance problem. . A few weeks later, my teenage daughter was driving to pick up her sister at practice she called me terrified because the vehicle shut down mid drive and while she was at traffic light I showed the service tech the video of the vehicle doing this& he told me that I no longer had warranty-it was going to cost me $150 just for the diagnostics. I left my vehicle there for 3 days, in those 3 days I got salesman calls asking to trade it in and no calls from service notifying what was being done to my car. Then get a call from service saying it was going to cost $400 to fix and I no was paying for another financial mess with another veh; rec'd call from ser. Empl. Nothing wrong with veh- mistaken my car's p/k with auto just need to put my auto backthis is extermly unsafe because I have been teaching my daughters how to drive they wouldnt know how to respond.

Then blamed me for not taking the Jeep to change the oil at 3000 miles, but the same dealer had tall me to changed every 5000 miles. An oil comsumsion test started and so far it shows that it consumed 1 quarter of oil on 1300 miles , dealer recomend a second oil comsumsion test.

My 2019 Jeep Cherokee 2. 4l engine stalls whenever the oil level gets below 60%. It usually happens when making turns or slowing down. The entire car shuts off while in drive and shows the battery light on dash. Latest time was when I was on the highway going 80 mph when the car stalls when making a turn around a bend. I have been in 3 almost accidents because of this issue. I've taken it in to a dealership and I was told it was to protect the engine if the oil levels go to low. Have to put the car into park then shut the car off completely, then start it up again. Last happened 2 months ago before an oil change and now experiencing with 61% oil life and checked the dipstick which was more than enough oil to run.

"takata recall" my 2019 Jeep Cherokee (latitude plus, fwd) always having issues. Vehicle engine shuts off when driving. This vehicle is not safe to drive, having to drive across amtrak tracks to get to work is just not safe, when this happens the battery light turns on, not to mention the rotaries sound of a crunch when driving. How many oil changes do this car really need in 2 months, driving 5 miles times 5 day to and from work? I always have at least 2,000 miles left before oil change is needed.
2019 Jeep Cherokee latitude stalls while the vehicle is in drive. The entire vehicle shuts down, the battery light displays, and the vehicle must be stopped, put in park, and restarted. This issue was noted by a recall earlier this year by Jeep, but service for the recall was ineffective and issue remains. Both experiences were while the car was in motion (driving) at approximately 35 miles per hour both on low grade inclines. The first experience was with less than 1,000 miles on the vehicle and the 2nd experience was at approximately 35,000 miles. Also, the speed control of the vehicle is inconsistent with both lurching at take off and slow acceleration.
When slowing to a stop, my car's engine shut off and the car displayed the battery warning light. I was able to restart the car without issue after a few seconds.
The vehicle decides to reverse in park and in drive while operating the vehicle on the road. The shifting is hard calibration and chugs. The engine has stalled in the middle of driving and completely turned itself indefinitely off. While driving into the parking space the vehicle has numerously and spontaneously decided to reverse in park. The same has happened in drive. The auto engine shut off doesn't work properly as the computer gets confused as to which gear it is in when it starts up. The radio likes to turn itself once in a while so I'd say thats mechanical although the least of my worries. I recently experienced parking in my front yard . . The "d" starts blinking in drive and the vehicle starts indefinite reversing. . . . . . This SUV also has bad fuel efficiency getting 12 mile per gallon on freeway and road. Not safe.

This vehicle is using 4 qt of oil for ever 3800 miles traveled. It has a capacity of 5. 5 qts. The oil warning light does not come on when the oil is low. My experience with this is when I was making a hard left turn the car shut off while driving on a busy 3 lane roadway. When this happens, all the warning lights blink such as oil, battery, transmission. I had to put the vehicle in park and restart the engine. The car was brand new. Only 3800 miles on it. When I called the dealer they said to check the oil. It was 4 qts low. This has happened again just recently at 19990 miles on the vehicle.
On 6/8/2019, I pulled through my gate, left the vehicle in park to close the gate which takes a few seconds. My vehicle completely shut down. Restarted, ac was off, audio also off. Drove for about 35 miles, made 2 stops, all ok. Next leg of trip approx 20 miles, coming into another town and approaching traffic light. At the light as I stopped, the vehicle again shut down in drive at the stop light in considerable amount of traffic. This was not the auto stop/start, it shut down again. Had to put in park, it did restart, and again, ac off, audio off. Proceeded to my next stop where the vehicle tried to shut down as I pulled into parking spot, I was able to complete parking. Upon returning to the vehicle, it started, but now have back up camera failure which has not worked since that episode. This was terribly dangerous as I was in a lot of traffic and was helpless until I got it to restart.
2019 Jeep Cherokee latitude 2. 4 liter 4cyl engine shuts off while driving. It has stalled once and shut off twice. August 31, 2018 the engine shut off for the first time while driving. I reported it to the dealer. November 2018 - Jeep issues a recall - Jeep Cherokee vehicles equipped with 2. 4l engines. Improper transmission calibration may result in a stall. Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will re-flash the transmission controller with a new calibration, free of charge. The recall began November 2, 2018. The dealer fixed this last November 2018. Yesterday the Jeep stalled and today March 21, 2019 the engine shut off while driving. I drove it directly to the dealer today. I was rattled. Each time this has happen I have been fortunate driving slow and in residential or remote areas. Others have not. There are hundreds of complaints online. This is a serious safety issue.
2019 Jeep Cherokee lattitude- engine shuts off while driving. I bought my car brand new I reached 4000 miles and I was driving to work my car died and the battery light came on, car went into failure mode so was hard to steer and my flashers would not go on, I sat for a few minutes and tried to restart and the car hesitated and turned over. Two weeks later same thing in the same exact spot. I brought my car to suresky the dealer I bought it from and they said its because it needed an oil change. Once they completed my oil change they told me my oil was barely on the dipstick. This is a brand new car with 6000 miles with synthetic oil I shouldnt have oil loss. I have read online there are 188 other people that have reported this same issue. I am afraid to let my kids drive this due to driver inexperience. Jeep is aware of the issue and will not recall the vehicles, because of the loss they will take, what is it going ot take someone dying because that is what is going to happen, and then Chrysler is going to be sued for not taking the safety of the consumers to heart.
While pulling into a parking lot the vehicle engine shut down, it has done this three times in the past week. Vehicle is now at the dealership. I had to put the vehicle in park in order to restart it.
The engine shut off while driving the vehicle at 40 miles per hour. The car had 972 miles on it, and was purchased new a few weeks ago.
Vehicle shuts off while driving, causing me to have to put it in park and re-start the engine. Two times when it happened, I wasn't going fast enough to coast to the shoulder, so had to start the vehicle in the middle of the street. Vehicle has a hard time starting once stalled. Service department at dealership informed me oil was low, vehicle wasn't due for an oil change yet. No warnings or indicator lights that oil level was low. Service technician said to check oil every 1000 miles, on a brand new vehicle. Said this engine uses a lot of oil. I'm concerned at pulling onto a busy road or into traffic and having vehicle die on me and getting hit.
Tl the contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that the vehicle shut off while turning on several occasions. I was driving down the street and all the sudden my car just shut off. I had no control over the vehicle at all. Then it started driving backwards as it was in drive. I couldn't not get it to go into park and it took a minute or 2 to get it into park. The. The dash told me to turn the car back on and it wouldn't turn back on at first. This is the second time this has happened to me. The vehicle was moving and just all the sudden turned off. I went and checked the oil after reading about this with other customers and I had no oil in my car.
Car shuts down while driving. Vehicle prompts to restart while the engine is still running. Battery light flashes, vehicle must be turned off, put in park, and restarted. Takes several seconds for starter to reingage and start the engine.
My vehicle shut off while driving. This SUV is brand new, only 250 miles on it. I stopped at a stop sign, began driving and the engine shut off and would not start. Several error messages came up on my display such as, service transmission, service power steering, service parking brake, service stability control etc. The car never restarted and had to be towed. I could have been killed if this happened while pulling on to a busy road. My dealer has had the vehicle for 4 days and has been unable to figure out the problem.
Vehicle stalls while in motion-hundreds of complaints about the same problem on internet. Jeep literally just shuts off- all 2019 Jeep latitudes. Battery light goes on very dangerous in traffic.
While driving, on a residential street, the engine shut down for no apparent reason. I had to put it in park and restart the car. I was lucky it did not happen on the interstate, it would have caused a serious accident. I have since read that other Jeep Cherokee drivers have had the same experience, some 3 incidents. I do not want to experience this 3 times. Yesterday I traded cars, bought a different one. I'm 77 years old and I'm too scared to take a chance on a car that does that.
