The sunroof on my 2008 Jeep Commander leaks profusely, even in mundane conditions like a rain sprinkle or carwash. Throughout the year, whenever there is a rain downpour, water leaks through the sunroof and side posts to the point that water is sloshing and splashing around as I drive, and splashes up on me when I stop. Through online research, I've learned that Chrysler refuses to address and correct the faulty drainage tubes causing the leaky sunroofs, nor does Chrysler honor warranty claims for these sunroofs despite issuing at least 7 technical service bulletins about its vehicles’ faulty drainage tubes and leaking sunroofs between 1999 and 2010, the class action lawsuit says. I am now having to spend hundreds, if not thousands, to have the sunroof and side post drainage channels repaired. Thousands of other Jeep owners have had this same issue. I implore you to please hold Jeep/Chrysler accountable, and force them to rectify this faulty, defective, and poorly manufactured product that they call a "sunroof", which is actually just an open portal for water to soak us both literally and monetarily. Because of recent hail storms locally, no repair shop is even able to look at my Jeep's sunroof until November. So that means I'll have to continue arriving to work and other destinations soaking wet. Looking forward to your response and action on this matter. Takata recall as I was driving my car on the four lane my car started to have white rubber smelling smoke fill the car and all my dash lights went crazy, my radio kicked off and my speakers and my turn signals quit working. I started to panic and stopped on the side of the rode. I had my kids in the car so I first removed my children then tried to find the problem. At this point my car was completely full of smoke n it like as if it was burning down. My wiring in the cars passenger side rear floor board had caught on fire ! the fire burnt through my floor and my floor mats. I almost choked to death on the smoke and had to take the battery out of the car to kill the power and dump water on the floor.

Water leaking from sunroof , weather lining peeling off most of car.
While driving at night I thought I could hear a scraping noise. I promptly rolled down my window and continued to accelerate slowly. I didn't hear the noise so proceeded home. A few miles later I pulled into my drive and a police officer pulled up to tell me metal was loose under my vehicle and shooting sparks out of the rear. The next morning I checked and a large piece of rusted metal was hanging by a thread so I removed it. I made an appointment to have the vehicle inspected and was shown that 2 of the 3 straps holding my gas tank in place were completely gone and the third is broken and rusted through. My vehicle is unsafe to drive and I had no idea. I looked to see if this was a recall issue and it is not. I searched to see if this is a common problem and found that it is extremely common across the entire Jeep line. If my gas tank were to separate or be punctured it could not only cause an explosion killing me and my family but could kill/seriously injure anyone on the road behind me. I have absolutely no recourse to resolve this issue. I can't afford the dealership amount which is more than the vehicle is worth. How is this not a recall issue?.

The vehicle shut off without warning while driving 65 mph. Lost control hit side truck try restart but won crank or anything head lights and everthing is normal just won crank again.
Vehicle drops from 70 mph to 30 mph unexpectedly and frequently. Unable to get out of first gear. Adding 1 quart transmission fluid lasts for a few days. No leaks seen by 3 mechanics.
As I was driving on the central florida greeneway, my sunroof and bracket blew from the car. Estimated speed - 65 mph. The electric sunroof was in the closed position. Suddenly, the glass sunroof blew from the car and half the bracket came unassembled.
The back passenger interior door handle broke. I feel is it unreasonable to have a working handle to exit a vehicle. Now since my son is older, I am concerned with his ability to exit out safely in an emergency. The poor design creates a safety issue for owners and their passengers.
Leaking water through side driver handle also carpets soaked when rains. Has been happening through the years. Safety issue now I believe is affecting my electical in door panel. Passenger door window will not work from drivers side. Now leaking from light fixture. Will it affect any other electrical in the future? when Jeep was new door hinge was replaced rusted out. Need it done again. This is not normal maintenance to replace hinges. The door sounds like its going to crack in half when opening and closing. Wouldnt be suprised if it fell off. Its the same side as the leaks. Im putting todays date because its all the time. Also ive read there is a class action suit for the sunroof. But not vehicles before 2009? all recalls and suits match my situations but my VIN # doesnt come up?? not right at all. There are so many flaws in this Jeep but what im complaining about is serious.
The interior door handle casing cracked and completely crumbled. It is nearly impossible to open the door from the inside because of this. A quick google search shows that it is a prevalent problem and not an issue caused by normal wear. This can be a serious hazard if the driver needs to exit the vehicle quickly and cannot access another door or roll down the window to open it from the outside.
The sunroof drainage is significant during any local rain soaking the floor boards and creating a moldy carpet. This happens when the auto is parked and stationary (in our driveway).
The door handles of my Jeep Commander 2006 have snapped. Thr vehicle was stationary. First it was the rear drivers side door, then before I could schedule to get that one fixed, the rear passenger side door handle snapped. I accepted that it may be coincidence, until one month later, the same thing happened to my divers side door! it can't be coincidence and now I have difficulty getting out of my vehicle. It definitely poses a safety issue.
The sunroof drain design was faulty. During raining weather, the sunroof drains cannot handle the collected rain and the rain will overflow and go into the car. The rain that overflows falls into the front panel and has caused multiple electrical failures and shortages. Most importantly the water has damaged the instrument panel and headlight controls which causes them to shut off while operating the vehicle.
Tl the contact owns a 2010 Jeep Commander. When the contact purchased the vehicle from an independent source, she was not informed of its recall history. When initially purchased, the vehicle made an abnormal noise and there was extensive wobbling and a strong vibration in the rear. The contact was uncertain if the failure was related to a potential "death wobble" and the rear trac bar. The vehicle was taken to various independent repair facilities, but they were unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired and the intermittent failure continued. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.

All door handles are broken and have become in operable from the inside of the vehicle. Also when starting the Jeep it will run for a few seconds and then shut off. After starting you can shift to drive and it puts you in drive 3 them it will quit. When u start and it shift into drive the Jeep will remain running.
The airbag light is on and after taking it to the mechanic, I was informed that it will not release in the event of an accident. I searched for a recall as the mechanic suggested and found nothing. Since I have never been in an accident that would set the airbag off, I do not understand why the light is on. The lights on the dashboard, interior lights, autostart, heated seats, rear sensors, and anti skid have all stopped working. Although my car is 9 years old, it has less than 60,000 miles and is well cared for. The mechanic has informed me that I have a faulty board. Faulty sounds like something Jeep should be paying for not me. Bubbling of paint on the hood of the truck and its spreading. Again, all these issues should be covered by Jeep. These issues are the result of poor or faulty manufacturing processes and should not be visited upon the consumer.

Every single door handle in the Jeep broke under normal use somewhat able to open from inside, but a very big safty hazards when my kids or passengers cannot open the door from the inside. Kinda scary when you think about it. Slightly after revieving my used Jeep one door handle after the other breaks upon bumping into handle.
Along the entire upper body of the car there are cracks in the paint which I attributed to a paint defect. It now has rust damage to the upper frame above the windshield and on the roof of the vehicle where the cracks were. Above the windshield is the worst damage where it has eaten into the frame.

My 2006 Jeep Commander driver's door handles break - 3 of the 4 have broken after nothing but normal everyday use. If you're in a wreck you may not be able to exit the vehicle if the handles are broken. Checking the web for consumer's that have had similar problems with the Jeep Commander door handles breaking and finding out there are hundreds if not a couple thousand that have had the exact same breakage of the door handle operating mechanism. If you take the vehicle to the Jeep dealer for repair, they want $600. 00 - $800. 00 per door to ensure your safety in exiting the vehicle. Describing what happens with your vehicle: it is just everyday ordinary operational use as to when the driver or passengers on the inside of the vehicle and "normally "pull" the handle to open the door and exit the vehicle that the handle and handle housing breaks into pieces. This breakage happens to all the door handles (front & rear) in the 2006 Jeep Commander.

3 of 4 door handles now broken - serious safety issue.
The hood is rusting. I was informed by a body shop that the hood is rusting and that it needs to be replaced because it cannot be contained. The "bubbling" has spread across the front edge of the hood to the passenger side of the vehicle. It will soon spread to the driver's side as there is "bubbling" now at the front edge of the driver's side. I found other complaints while trying to find a solution.

The door handle on my Jeep Commander is cracking. My son went to open his door and his fingers got caught on the crack part of the door handle and we could not get his fingers out without him suffering.
The plastic panel of the interior door (driver's side) cracked by the door handle. One day I pulled the interior door handle, the crack in the panel grew and pieces crumbled and fell into the door. Then the handle fell into the door. Now the only way to open the door is to lower the window and open it from outside. This is a major safety issue, and I apparently am not the only one. .
