On 8/26/25 I got the 88a recall fixed on this Jeep at duluth Dodge in duluth mn . . I left dealership and my ac stopped working brought it back they fixed and it and got it working now on 8/30/25 I’m at a stop light and my Jeep stalls, it went to go start for me to drive and it died. The emergency brake came on and I couldn’t get it off the state trooper actually helped me get it off. Had to get my vehicle towed to my house. All lights come on but it says “blind spot alert temporarily unavailable “ check engine light is on and my Jeep will not start. I was stranded on a busy road at a stop light with my child in the car . I know this is due to the recall cause my Jeep ran just fine and did not have any issues until this recall was “fixed”. This recall actually has my Jeep not working at all. All failure lights came on after my Jeep stalled and wouldn’t turn back on. From what I’m reading this is exactly what happened to other people . Please fix this.

Description of problem: since purchase, this vehicle has exhibited severe safety defects, including sudden and repeated engine shutdowns at highway speeds, loss of power while driving, dashboard malfunctions, steering lockups, service esc, dynamic steering torque service required, service hill holder, false fuel gauge readings, service airbag reading, transmission warming sign, and emergency brake engagement without command. These failures have occurred multiple times and forced me off the road to avoid collisions. They mirror known recalls on this model year and create a clear risk of injury or death. Attempts to repair: the selling dealer (coral springs pre-owned superstore) and an authorized Jeep dealer (arrigo Jeep in margate, FL and arrigo Jeep tamarac,FL) have repeatedly failed to identify or repair the issues despite video evidence. They claim they cannot replicate the malfunctions, though the vehicle continues to fail monthly. Safety concern: the Jeep Compass shuts down without warning at highway speeds, leaving me stranded in traffic. This is an immediate hazard and should be investigated as a systemic defect. Requested action: investigation into recalls/defects on the 2018 Jeep Compass, enforcement of repairs, and accountability for dealerships that continue to sell unsafe vehicles.
Vehicle causes alerts that the indicated functions are not available or need servicing. Vehicle has been serviced at Jeep dealer for repair but continues to emit false messages that the stated safety features are not available. This is a safety hazard due to the alerts causing distraction while driving. Pop up on screen with a beep.

The vehicle was in a front end collision and the airbags, not one single airbag deployed. This is vehicle malfunction.

Electrical system is astoundingly horrible in these Jeep Compasses. When steering wheel is turned to make a turned or when it is raining, the dashboard lights up with error messages stating, front collision unavailable, auto high beam unavailable, auto emergency braking limited functionality, blind spot alert unavailable all requiring service. This is not the first Jeep Compass this has happened too, it also happened with my previous Compass - which I took it in for service more than 11 times for these same issues.
Emergency brake locking when vehicle is in drive mode. Also unable to drive from a stopped position except very slowly which can cause a rear end collision.
Theres a few issues with this car im a mechanic and ive done some research on this vehicle there are multiple safety concerns including the engine for the 2. 4l losing power while trying to accelerate, the abs system failing and electrical system throwing codes up that aren't actually an issue. I feel the whole car needs to be reassessed from the engine transmission all sensors and the brake system. There is a lot of issues with the new motor that was put in, including an issue with the 2. 4l motor which is the oil pump housing causing the vehicle to stall and to lose power while accelerating. This is a major safety concern and could kill someone. Please fix it.
Starting at 300 miles, the vehicle displayed a warning message that said automatic emergency braking system unavailable service required. The Jeep dealer in austin, minnesota inspected this vehicle and gave us paperwork saying there is no fix available for this safety system and stelantis engineers are aware of complaints and investigating. This fault/error shuts off this safety feature which puts the driver and occupants in danger of injury and or death when this automatic braking system is needed and not working. A constant warning light is displayed. This has been ongoing since March of this year. Please force a recall and or fix of this vehicle. An online search shows this is a common issue on Jeep Compass vehicles since the 2023 model year. This vehicle has one other issue where the electronic parking brake is randomly turning on by itself with no driver input.
I was at a red light and when the light turned and I put on the gas my car stalled. I could not shut off the car, it has a push button engine. The motor was off but on the dashboard it said the car was on and all of the electrical systems were still running (heat, radio, lights, etc). When I pushed the engine button, the car would not turn off. The parking break turned on by itself. I could not push my car to the side of the road. I was in the middle of traffic. I had to call for the police and for a tow truck. We still could not get the car to turn off (the motor was not on but the car's electrical system was still on). We could not disengage the parking break. Finally the tow truck operator slammed the break pedal down and he was able to turn off the car. The car then started. We still towed it to the Jeep dealership. The could not find anything wrong with the car. Approximately two weeks earlier, the same thing happened at a red light but at that time, after I waited for 10minutes I was able to get the car to turn off then on. My car has two new batteries (put in one year ago), new front breaks, new tires. The day this happened, I had actually just left Jeep from getting my oil changed. They said it was not related to that.
My 2018 Jeep Compass has an oil pump issue it seems. I read about previous scenarios and forums that had issues with this vehicle like mine. I would drive the vehicle and not within 5 minutes it will turn off half way down the road in the middle of an intersection that could have caused the lives of others and my child and myself. This vehicle is not safe at all! I have contacted and informed the dealership on multiple times about this issue.
While driving with my wife and 3 kids the car automatically braked by itself. Lucky to be able to report this. The nthsa doesn’t have any current recalls on my VIN. It should now this model vehicle could be causing future accidents or deaths. Hope this gets some attention ASAP.
Abs shuts off while driving for no apparent reason. When this happens cruise control shuts dow also. Traded a 2022 Compass in with same issue and problem was never solved.
When driving a warning sign came on saying stop safely your vehicle will shut off soon. When driving another time the vehicle shut off completely while driving and then came back on.
A few weeks are I bought the car, it started having sensor issues. It would tell me that my brake lights are out, my lane assist is not available, my turn signals are not available, etc. After spending weeks at the mechanics, the dealership gave me the car back and said that everything was fine. A week later, all of the sensors started messing up again one of the sensors that was messing up was the auto brake system. As I was driving on the highway at 75 mph, the car thought that I was about to hit another car. There were no cars around to activate this auto braking system, but the car slammed on the brakes in the middle of the highway. It spent another few weeks with the dealership mechanics and is now having the same issues.
The only way to adjust the advanced driver assistance systems (adsa) in my 2022 Compass is via a defective radio that continually resets as per mopar case number s238a000037 from August 2023. According to the bulletin this was supposed to have been fixed via a software update in the 4th quarter of 2023. Repeated calls to the mopar wave 800-334-9200 only to be disconnected as soon as I give them the case number 4 times today.
Bought my vehicle new at 29 miles. At 4k miles my auto braking light would come in as off. Every 2k it would turn itself off, even though I want the feature on. Even though it says it's off there will be times the warning will alert me to brake for no reason and someone's brake for no reason. I've gone to the dealer multiple times and they wouldn't find a code or a reason why it was doing that, and brush it off like nothing. Every 2k miles out would turn off. Now after hitting over 40k miles I started to experience it more often where it would tell me brake. Now something at 49k miles. When I'm on a slight hill or high incline when my vehicle turns off and tries to start it will roll back and not move forward even when I apply the gas like the engine is still off. When that happens the service hill holder, and then multiple other safety features have warnings for, service electronic stability control, drive mode unavailable, active lane management unavailable service required, auto emergency braking unavailable service required, stop/start unavailable service start/stop system. I told the dealer that had my car for a month at 49k miles about the hill holder and what my vehicle did. No results and still have this issue. When you turn off the vehicle the service lights disappear and can't be read. This happens almost every day now. I replaced my aux battery after it seems to happen when my vehicle is off and struggled to turn back on at times and it still does it. I'm afraid that I'm going to get into an accident when people see I took my foot off the brake and will get rear ended or if my vehicle is going to brake itself and cause an accident or the other safely issue fail. The stability control can be an issue and drive mode I can't turn off or on those features when those notifications pop up. What can happen, will it eventually do this on a freeway and cause a major accident or when I'm through an intersection. . 5 different dealers and have no answer. . . Help.
When driving the car will randomly active automatic emergency braking, which is especially dangerous on the highway. Lane departure has pulled me to the wrong lane, or will randomly become unavailable. Blind spot monitoring occasionally doesn’t work, or will also randomly become unavailable. Dealership made aware but unable to recreate circumstances in which they become unavailable or faulty. There are never prior warnings, this will happen whenever. There are multiple other ‘24 Jeep Compass owners who report the same issue online.
Vehicle shut off at stop light , parking break engaged and disengaged , drive shift was flashing , dash was flashing. I shut the vehicle off twice because it happened twice in the same moment until the third time it allowed me to drive.
Multiple times now while driving the vehicles emergency park comes on by its self. The vehicle stops and turns off while in the middle of the road. Other vehicles have had to quickly stop and go around. Recently the engine light has appeared. It happens 1-3 times while driving. Mainly while turning a corner.
Car started beeping and information center was flashing and drive indicator was flashing . At another time car shifted in reverse and would not move. Humming sound coming from front right wheel at 40mph and would not go away until until 60mph. Was told it was the all wheel drive system.
Emergency brake system is randomly engaged while stopped and/or during driving. Engine stalls out and will not move unless engine is shut off and turned back on and emergency brake is disengaged.

Jeep Compass shut off without warning at highway speeds, in the middle of highway route 1 while I was going 50 miles per hour. State police had to stay while I got car towed out of road hazards way. When this has happened, the vehicle was no longer able to accelerate, and the power steering did not work. Loss of power steering made the vehicle difficult to steer off the roadway to safety.
In the past 5 days my car has died/lost all power while in drive, driving down the road. The first time that it happened I was driving down and alley. I brought the car to a complete stop and put the car in park. I hit the push button start and it shut off completely. I was able to start my car again. When I got it started the check engine light was on and the system had shut off the emergency pedestrian braking system. I turned the emergency pedestrian braking back on and the next day before I could get my car looked at, the check engine light was off. I still made an appointment but not for another 6 days after as they were booked until then. Later that night driving down the road at about 25 mph it shut off again and tried to turn on the emergency brake. Right after that happened there was a message on the screen that said something about the emergency pedestrian braking but I was unable to read it because another message that said service emergency brake showed up. I was able to come to a complete stop and start my car again. I attempted to accelerate and my car died again. I was able to restart my car and once again the check engine light was on and emergency ped braking was off. I left it off for the weekend and there were no issues in that time. The check engine light did turn off after 2 days. I just got my car looked at today by the dealership. They stated that they can see the codes that were stored from when the check engine light was on but it could be a million different things. They stated that I would have to bring it in after it does it so that they can pinpoint the issue while it is happening.
This isn’t the first time it happened, I was about to make a right turn at an intersection and the car suddenly stalled with emergency brake engaged and the funny part is that the car wouldn’t turn off . This car is garbage and it’s drink oil like a monster.
My 2018 Jeep Compass engine started locking up randomly in 2019. It would take about 15 minutes for the car to reset and start again. I started to notice it would happen more often in hot temperatures. The Jeep dealer said they could not help unless they could recreate the problem, but it never happened at the dealership. This summer it started to happen more as the temperature went up more. I was stuck in traffic three times this year, 2 times last year. I have been approached by cops several times due to this problem. I was able to get it fixed this summer because it got stuck long enough for a mechanic to see the issue. Putting in a new starter fixed the problem. The auto start/stop feature seems to be wearing out the starter faster. I deactivate the auto start/stop feature whenever I drive to keep from wearing down the starter. This is similar issue to the following report NHTSA report ids: 11540220, 11540593, 11540475, 11539629, 11536381.
Since my short time of ownership I have had two specific issues with the car. One the safety features. The lane departure warning often doesn't work. The icon will stay unlit when veering out of lane. This is random but often. Next the automatic emergency braking system. The icon will show turned off randomly yet often. Forcing me to go back into the menu when the car is in stop to activate it again. For unknown reasons it will randomly turn off. Secondly, the transmission has a scary delay on stop to go. About 3 months after purchase I noticed when at a stop or very slow speeds the car will hesitate when pressing on the gas petal. I have had some near accidents due to this. The best way I can describe this is a loss of power. When accelerating from a stop or very slow speed the car doesn't respond or move then out of no where it will jerk and speed up. This has been an issue when yielding to on coming traffic making accidents more likely. I have taken the car to the dealer and was told it was a learning transmission and it should go away. I did receive a recall update to fix the hesitation but so far I don't see any positive change in this matter. The car still has a loss of power and I will bring the car back in for service.
Abs anti lock break system the first time it happened, I was slowing down at a stop light, and then starting back up the car stalled and would not move it had to be turned off and on in the middle of an intersection a car from behind had to skid and almost crashed into me another time I was turning onto a major. Road and it suddenly stalled once again almost got rear ended this happened a series of times, and was taken into a local mechanic each time, in which case they said it was the wheel sensors and replaced each one both independent and Jeep dealership reproduced and confirmed the issue no warning lights prior to the first issue. Every time the car was taken into mechanic the warning lights were cleared for @ 30 days each time the warning lights came on the car would simultaneously stall again.
Since the last over-the -air (ota) software update, numerous systems have malfunctioned and then fixed themselves. The exception is the dashboard lighting problem to be addressed by NHTSA recall # 23v-576, fca recall # 88a which also started with the latest update, is continuous, not intermittent. I feel the most serious malfunction is when a turn signal will not turn off, irregardless of manual control/lever use. Overall, my main question / complaint is since all these problems were installed by the ota update, why can't the fixes also be installed ota instead of having going to the dealership? thank you.
My emergency brake engages while my vehicle is in drive during auto assist feature is on. My vehicle stalls. I have to put my vehicle in park, then shut my car off and restart it while in traffic. I have been in several near collisions. I have been a victim of road rage. My 2019 Compass has been experiencing this issue since July 2020. After 11 service visits, my vehicle is still not fixed and the dealership is no longer willing to help. They say there is nothing that can be done. I have copies of all service repair orders from 2020-June 2023.
Handbrake won’t lock brakes grinding bad problems coming to complete stop emergency brake won’t go off.

The vehicle was in motion going 40 mph when the dashboard displayed high coolant temp. The dashboard continued to flash other warnings such as check engine and oil change required. Then, the emergency brake light was on, engine light, and oil light. This caused the vehicle to lose total power in the accelerator and partial power in the brakes. The event led my vehicle to cause a complete stop in the middle of a highway. To the resolve the issue, I powered off the engine and restarted the vehicle. After powering the vehicle back on, all was normal other than the check engine light was still on, but it did run perfectly fine. Coolant level in reservoir is normal. This instance has taken place on multiple occasions.

This vehicle randomly shuts off. It is usually when I’m going at a slow speed or applying the break. It cuts off and jerks for a second and then I put the vehicle in park cut it off and restart it and it works normal.
Upon start up of my vehicle I noticed my center display for speed, etc had turned itself to spanish, but my radio was still in english. My forward collision warning, lane keep assist, auto emergency braking, and front collision avoidance had all turned themselves off, and my auto park brake had turned itself on. After contacting a dealer they stated they had several complaints and to just turn them back on/off. Having these safety features turn themselves off can provide a fall sense of safety and cause accidents.
