Tl the contact owns a 2007 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle swayed without warning. The contact noticed the front and rear cross members were rusted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the contact was informed that the cross member was rusted and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was taken to anderson Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram (5711 e state st, rockford, IL 61108, (815) 229-2000) but was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 137,000.

I recently had to replace the crossmember on my 2008 Jeep Compass in the front due to corrosion causing steering issues when turning (loud clunk sound). The cost is expensive and I may have to replace the rear crossmember as well. I was also unaware of this recall and never contacted by the dealership to come in for replacement.

I have a 2007 Jeep Compass 4wd. The rear subframe on the driverside is rotten out and making the driver side rear wheel bend. I have a 4 year that goes in my car, and I have looked online. Jeep was made aware of the rust rot, and choose not to do anything.

Severe corrosion to the frame and sub frame of the Jeep Compass. The front sub frame is separating from the frame and now the vehicle is unstable and unsafe to drive. There should not be this much corrosion on a 2007 vehicle of any kind.

I bought this vehicle at hawk Chrysler Dodge Jeep 7911 w roosevelt rd, forest park, IL 60130 on 04/8/19 . I drove off the lot without a proper explanation/presentation of my vehicle, no one went over the features with me. When I arrived at home, a family member pointed out that the lcd screen qhere the mileage is displayed was not working. At first I thought it may turn on with one of the button on the vehicle because I've never owned a vehicle like this. After 10 -15 minutes of playing around with buttons I couldn't figure it out and called the dealership, the salesperson said to bring it back for an update. On the way back to the dealership I got into a car accident because I was on my way back to the dealer and I did not realize how fast I was going since mileage was not displayed. Now, I have damage on the front driver side of the vehicle less than 24hrs later. It is now 04/23/19 and the vehicle is under the dealership possession because the part to the lcd screen is on back order. According to the salesperson, I just needed an update, wrong.

Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Jeep Compass 4x4. The contact stated that there was a failure pertaining to the warning light illuminating for the tpms alerting the contact to check the front drivers side tire. The contact had serviced the tire with some air and without knowing, the cross member had fractured into the tire, upon making a left turn from a fueling station and the vehicle was unable to be driven. The vehicle was near a repair facility who inspect, diagnosed and informed the contact that the cross member had extensive rust to the point that it fractured into the frame. The vehicle was then towed to a second facility for testing and diagnosis. A dealer had not been contacted yet to diagnose the failure. The contact was uncertain if the vehicle was included or excluded from the manufacturer extended warranty campaign �x69 front and rear cross member corrosion, TSB 23012-14 and if the manufacturer had a specific guideline to repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was waiting for a response to determine the guidelines to repair the vehicle. The approximate failure mileage was not available. Dyd.

Front subframe rotted out on 2009 with only 90,000 miles. This is a safety issue if driving and brakes, which could cause serious injury and/or death to myself or others. My mechanic said this should not be this rotted for a car of this age. I brought it to mechanic for leaking oil, and when he lifted it he saw rust. The oil pain is now getting replaced for corrosion.

The vehicle failed inspection last week due to x58 front/rear crossmember being completely rusted and in dangerous condition. Apparently this was under warranty because this has been a serious issue. I was not aware of the problem nor the warranty and now I'm stuck with a car that is not drivable.

Several days ago while on the expressway, my Jeep Compass would not brake at all. We were forced to pull off on the median left side until it stopped. . Two days ago, October 10th, when pulling into a parking lot, with brake depressed, the car lurched forward and hit a sign just missing a tree. The passenger front right side, door, back door, and rearview mirror were damaged. This was the second incident. Very scary and luckily no one was hurt.

Sub frame rotted out - safety issue.

I was driving along. Hit my brakes. And then my driver front wheel screeched and went into the wheel well. After I had it towed to a shop they said it was a rotted out sub frame. If this would have happened going highway speeds I would have wrecked and possibly not be alive now. I was luckily on a back road so there was not any injuries.

While driving, banging noise from rear and front suspension was heard. Squealing noise (metal on metal) also heard from brakes. Mechanic inspected undercarriage and saw undercarriage was thoroughly rusted which damaged front and rear suspension and brakes. Was informed of danger in driving and advised to get to dealer immediately. Brakes damaged inside to the outside due to rust. All brake system parts were replaced. Mechanic also had to grind away rust to prevent further damage. Mechanic claimed this was the worst amount of rust he had seen in 20 year career. Repairs totaled $784. 44. May also have affected radiator as well. Heat now not working and prestone turns red from rust.

The dealer (ramey Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram, 27992 gov g c peery hwy, north tazewell, va 24630 (276) 988-6526) was contacted and stated that the vehicle was only included in a seat belt recall. The manufacturer was contacted and did not assist; however, the contact heard a message about the rust failure when she was placed on hold. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 80,000.

Started hearing a lot of noises in the front end, took it to my local mechanic. He said the front cross member was rusted in 2, which was causing everything to rock. Not safe to drive. He said this has been an ongoing problem for a long time with Chrysler products.

Jeep repeatedly leaks from dome light after it rains. My map light is filled with water when it rains. I had puddles of water in front and rear passenger foot area. The car smells really bad. My Jeep Compass stopped in the middle of the road just a month after I bought it.

The underneatheth is rotted and there was a secret recall! because as a owner of a Jeep I ever got a letter and if you look online almost everyone with this year Jeep has the same problem.

It has rapidly rusted out (sub frame). I have owned it for a year and a half and it was not that way when I bought it. Is there a recall?.

Takata recall my Jeep was t-boned, by on coming traffic. Both doors on the right side, were smashed in. The doors were smashed in, meaning the doors were inoperable. The doors can't be opened, or shut. None of the air bags, in the entire vehicle deployed.

I replaced my lower front pumper because it started looking like something was burning the pumper. After replacing pumper it happen again, I took it to the dealer they told me there was nothing they could do for me. My car sets in my drive way most of the time im retierd I dont drive my car much. I believe there's a defect in the material hope theres something that be done. Thank you!.

Our 2008 Jeep Compass has a clunking noise on the driver's side near the front wheel when driving and turning the wheel. We took it to a mechanic and he stated the subframe is heavily corroded and is rusting out. This is a known issue with this year, make, and model and was covered under an �extended warranty� bulletin that we were not told about and now that has expired and it is not covered anymore. I was told the bulletin expired 9/2017 so now 1 year and 7 months later my vehicle with only 112k miles is going to need an expensive fix or basically be junked. The 2007 vehicles had a recall and even though mine was manufactured in 2007 there is no recourse available.

I brought my vehicle a 2010 Jeep Compass to bodwells Jeep in brunswick maine last year to have the crossmembers inspected. There is an extended warranty on this vehicle for 10 years. Last year they told me that it was in perfect shape and now this year the crossmembers are so rusted through that there is a giant hole. They don't want to fix it for free and my car will not pass inspection.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that rear sub frame was completely rusted and needed to be replaced. The dealer was not called. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA. The failure was not repaired. The failure mileage was about 105,000. Fe.

Front end crossmember or also called subframe has rotted and rusted clear through at just over 10 years old I was informed by car mechanic. Jeep acknowledged the issue with the bad subframes and put an extended warranty on it. That only lasted 10 years. So car is now unsafe for the road and repairs are more then cars worth. Have read 1,000s of other complaints online for same issue with 2007 and 2008 Compasses.

While driving down the road, I have had the radio shut off multiple times, the stop/start feature keeps throwing errors, my temp gauges have went haywire, and the blower motor has shorted out and coolent has leaked out causing the motor to over heat. I have had to replace a tire with less that 10,000 miles on the vehicle. It has been back to the dealership 7 times for a total of 26 days, 1 time being towed. Also have had 4 trim pieces replaced. One piece is still on back order from 6 months ago. One piece is fine and the other 2 have already popped off. I have had this vehicle for only 11 months. The first issue started when the vehicle had 1404 miles on it and has had serious issues with in the last 5 months. Vehicle currently has 11,400 miles on it.

The heat shield that protects and separates the gas tank from muffler preventing the heat from the muffler to overheat the gas tank has fallen from the brackets that holds this safety / heat shield in place. This heat shield is extremely important preventing any heat to damage the gas tank directly above. The brackets that held up the heat shield appeared to be of very poor quality and would tend to fail from my observation. Without this heat shield it appears a gas tank fire could occur in hot environments or possibly at idle without any air movement to cool the space between the gas tank and muffler.

K frame front and rear is rotted. My car won't pass inspection. Needs manifold style catalytic converter. Needs to be replaced. Won't pass inspection. Car stalls out in traffic every time we refuel.

Rear oblique side impact behind driver side front wheel did not trigger side airbag, already fixed from previous recall. Both vehicles in motion, Jeep was the vehicle struck when pickup truck driver failed to yeild right of way at the stop sign. . Resulted in a broken neck to the 87 year old Jeep driver. Texas form cr3 report (which photos seem to somewhat refute) attached. Both vehicles totaled. Pickup truck lost right front wheel on impact. It ended up wedged between the vehicles.

The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Compass. While driving 25 mph, the contact heard an abnormal clunking noise and discovered that the subframe and cross member were rusted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The contact called a local dealer (hillview motors, 5309 us 30, greensburg, PA 15501), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact called a manufacturer and was advised to take the vehicle to a local dealer to be inspected. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.

Rotted front subframe. There was an extended warranty on this but I was never notified and now I have to pay for repairs out of pocket.

I recently purchased a 2008 Jeep Compass took it in for oil change and tire rotation they informed me that my engine cradle,there words not mine,was completely rotted and needed replaced! I do alot of traveling taking monthly trips to alabama and also deliver caters for my job. I often have my grandkids with me as well. I went on line and seen hundreds of complaints the same as mine! this issue is a death trap and Jeep manufactures should be held accountable for this defect! these Jeeps are not even 10yrs old this should not be happening I am posting my photos of mine to show how bad this situation is.

My Jeep did not pass inspection today. The underbody is totally rioted away from frame, this should not happen to a 2010 vehicle, I want to know if Jeep will recall or fix this problem . I did not spend 17,000 on a 7 year old vehicle for it to have a rotted frame , I'm very in happy with Jeep right now.
