Electronic Stability Control Problems of Jeep Compass - part 1

While in motion the electric emergency brake will ingage on its on cause the car to suddenly slow down and stop, very dangerous especially of in traffic. Another issue while in motion at random times the � engine� or transmission�? feels like it slips? and makes it hard for the car to accelerate engine light turns on and says service engine. I have to pull over and stop the car restart so the transmission doesn't heat up.

I took in my vehicle about a month ago to get a fix on a service engine light issue. It seemed to be a problem when I had my ac on and the transmission light and service engine light would turn on. I wouldn't be able to accelerate and it would make a jerking movement when I put my car into drive. I took my vehicle in about a month ago and they said that the problem had been fixed. Well today I get in my car to drive on the highway in the dmv and as I'm leaving the street I live on my car stops with no warning. I let it rest for a few minutes and then turn it on again; it hesitates to turn on making a weird sound then turns on about 10 seconds later. I put it in drive and it starts to drive but then jerks and completely stops. I bought this car in the beginning of the year and if I knew I would have all these issues with it and be fearful that I could've gotten into a crash or worse on the highway- I would not have bought it!.

Twice my vehicle has lost power while making a right turn. Electrical systems seize up, emergency brake engages without me setting it and unable to roll down windows.

All warning lights flashing on and off randomly and dinging while in motion. Also vehicles doesn't want to accelerate and rpms jumping up and down.

2nd time this happened within a month. Dealer changed batteries 1st time. Computer system runs through a number of messages stating various settings are not working. Example: engine light, air bag, oil, with every warning light there is. Vehicle just shut down on a busy road. Very dangerous. 15 min later it started back up like there wasnt a problem. There is excess oil use also. Changed oil, a month later, its a 1/4 low. No drips either. This should not be happening for a vehicle that is only 3 years old.

On Tuesday, 9/15/2020 I went to turn on my Jeep Compass from my driveway and it would not start. However the check engine light came on. Later that evening I tried starting my Jeep again, it started with no problem, and the check engine light was now off. On Friday, 6/18/2020 I took my vehicle to advanced auto where they checked my battery, alternator, and starter - all 3 items came back good. On my way home from advanced auto I was stopped at a traffic light on south railroad street in palmyra, PA. When the light turned green for me to go, I went to release my foot off of the brake and the vehicle just completely shut off - it was just completely dead, nothing was working. I then went to put my foot back on the brake, and I felt pressure underneath the brake that wouldn't allow me to completely press it down. After a few minutes I tried turning my key and restarting the car, and it turned back on and I was thankfully able to drive it back home. On Monday, 9/21/2020 I called a tow truck and had it towed to ladd-hanford in lebanon, PA. On 9/22/2020 kelsey shellehamer called me from ladd-hanford to inform me that the crankshaft sensor was faulty, that there had been recalls for the same model but just not my year, so she was going to call Chrysler and see if they would pay for it anyway. On 9/23/2020 I received another call from kelsey. She stated that she spoke to Chrysler, their warranty department and also mvp, all of which declined responsibility for fixing the part.

I came to a red light; my car cut off like normal; when I took my foot off the break it would not start back up. I had to cut my hazards on. I put my vehicle in park and tried to turn my vehicle on. I tried 3 times and it finally started. My vehicle started making weird noises; on my control panel it said start/stop not ready battery protection mode. I parked my car and let it cool of for 2 hours. I got in my vehicle, started, left my house, when I got to the stop sign. It did the same thing. Im honestly scared to drive my vehicle.

I bought my Jeep Compass in February. Last month when coming home my service parking brake system and service auto shut off system light both came on. When I got home I was like that's odd and called the dealer. They said they would look at if I brought it to them. I got ready for work, went to leave and my car wouldn't move. The parking brake was stuck on. I was furious and called the dealer and said they needed to have it towed and they refused. My mom ending up taking me to work, then the next day the lights mysteriously went off. Now yesterday both lights came on again. I plan on taking it to a dealer on Thursday to have it looked at & hopefully fixed. I just have read a couple complaints saying they have been stuck at red lights and nearly hit due to similar issues so I might be trading this vehicle in.

Shuts off while driving then difficult starting again.

Stop/start not available, backup camera goes out or does not work, engine is super hot high heat, check transmission ligh, check engine light, amber stop start light,putting in reverse and car will die out or hesitate, only 14,000 miles 2 years old all these symptons came on this week. Truly frustrating 2 year old car and its rediculous how bad this is. I will never buy this Compass or Jeep again.

My traction control makes a loud noise, after having it back to the garage 3 times I have been given 3 choices. 1 listen to the noise, turn up my radio or 3 turn off the traction control. Jeep has no answer or fix for the noise. I find it troubling that they would suggest turning up the radio which to me causes a safety issue or to turn off the traction control which seems to me was put on there as a safety feature. This has been an ongoing problem since I have owned this vehicle.

I was driving my car and it was not getting any speed with the pedal floored. The car started making loud noises from engine and the etc light came on, check engine light came on which is the mil light, also the esc light,I was driving and almost got hit because of it driving fine speed limit and then down to less than 5 mph on a very busy street and intersection. There is a major issue as I had it in the shop a month ago for another malfunction. I was driving 55 mph and suddenly it just lost all compression to less than 5 mph. I was able to finally pull over to an area that had no shoulder so I was half in the road and turned the car off. Read the manual and said to cycle the engine several times to see if better. Ir wasn't better,and now trying to go into reverse, pedal to the ground it creeps 1 to 2 mph.

While driving the etc light came on and car lost speed to 20 mph. Also the engine light came on. I pulled over got out my manual and it said to put in park and turn off car. Cycle? it and try to start again. It worked for the next 5 miles and did it again. Air conditioner stopped putting out cool air. I drove home at 20 mph.

While driving my Jeep continues to stall and stutter and gives off multiple error codes. I get my 4 wheel turned on, abs, fuel pump, and an electrical code that is a lighting bolt in a set of parenthesis. This is happening each time I am driving and the car slows to about 10 mph then begins to stop driving.

Our vehicle acts as if it has an electrical problem, radio no longer works but clock does, engine crack shaft makes it hard for vehicle to start. Car was checked for batter, alternator and starter and check out all good. It struggles to start just started a few weeks ago. It takes alot to build speed sometimes and stalls sometimes acting as if it wants to cut off.

Issue is what seems to be with the front suspension and it's alignment. I'm pretty sure there's not anything broken, in fact I'm actually baffled unless it is a possible �camber� issue/setting. More specific: negative camber, causing both tires to bald on the inside, evenly if that makes sense. (but I'm not going to act like I know my stuff, cause it's not my profession) see attached below. . . Also spoke with service supervisor mentioned (over phone), he says a potential toe out, in which is also on attached sheet. If needed I could send the photos of the tires wear pattern. Car mileage (43k) vehicle does not pull, vehicle was not in motion, & we've only had the vehicle a little over a year. Read about other recalls of same make/year thus reason behind complaint. There in the attachment, looks a little over-emphasized, however, issue is this bad.

My Jeep dashboard lights come on car starts to stall not picking up speed then after a 30-40 seconds it pick back up with engine and lighting vault light wont go off. I first time it occurred I was in motion om city streets doing speed limit of 50 mph an I instantly had to pull over when it was clear cut it off then started it back up cause I could not miss work.

The tipm is failing caused me to stall at 70mph on a highway in traffic doors unlocked and then threw all electrical codes.

I was backing out of my drive way when the car completely stopped and stalled. I tried turning the car back on and it sounds like it is on but does not let me accelerate or reverse. I tried multiple times turning it on and off and it still would not let me drive. We pushed the car back into the driveway and about 3 hours later I tried turning it on again and it turned on. We took it back to Dodge (this is the second time this car has stalled like this randomly) and they could not duplicate the issue and released the car back to us.

12-29-19 vehicle stalls while driving. Changed oil as tech states that it is normal for a call to stall while driving if it is under the recommended oil level. 1-7-2020 vehicle stalls at stoplight. 1-9-2020 Jeep changes out ignition switch. 1-10-2020 pu vehicle auto start stop would not engage. Went back to Jeep. Could not recreate the problem. 1-10-2020 auto start stop malfunction. 1-11-2020 went back to Jeep could not recreate the problem bring back in on Monday. 1-13-2020 car turns off by itself while at stoplight. 9:57 auto start stop malfunction red light blinking on dash. 1-17-2020 pu car mileage 24190 stop start unavailable services top start system at 24193. 1-18-2020 car stalls again while driving.

I was at a red lighting turning right and when I started to go the car stalled and would not let me go forward. I tried turning the car on and off and it made a noise like the car was turning on but would not let me move forward. I tried turning it on and off a couple times then the check engine light came on. I popped the hood and then tried turning the car on again, this time it did turn on and was letting me move forward and then it stalled again and would not let me go forward. My husband had to push the car and jump start it (its a manual) we drove straight to Dodge to have it looked at. They were unable to duplicate the issue and released the car back to us.

My 2019 Jeep Compass has had numerous safety concerns, especially related to the engine and the push-to-start feature. Most recently, I have been in (d) drive, both stationary (I. E at a red light) or in motion (I. E highway, main road, side street, rotary) and both on a city street and highway when the vehicle's dashboard alerts me to shift the car into the (p) park gear. I can feel the car start to decelerate when it send this message. First, I shift the car into the desired gear (p), then brake locks itself so that I am unable to use to push-to-start feature and place the car back into drive. This has happened to me 4x/more. I have had my car in the service center at the dealership twice for the issue and they are unable to find the actual problem. It seems to me that it is the engine/push-to-start feature. In 2017 I had a defective battery and the car acted very similar, so I am thinking it may be the battery again. I filed a claim/case with Jeep today. I am awaiting proper documentation from the service center in terms of invoices. My life is at risk due to this huge safety issue.

I bought my car in 2018 brand new with less than 10 miles. In the first few months, it required a brand new radio system and rear camera replacement. In some months following that, I have had my car stop on me while driving, approximately 4-5 times with only excuses as to why the car would unsafely do this. First time was an update that needed to be done. Second time was the keyfob battery but accused it of being lack of oil changes (I don't need to go to the dealership for oil changes). Next, was no explanation at all. Last was yesterday when it died twice in one day in the middle of the road. They called to let me know that it probably is because my oil is 3/4 way depleted even though I had an oil change done less than 3k miles ago. Their suggestion is that I return every 500 miles so they can top me off if the oil seems to be an issue. These are thankfully in less busy streets mostly driving straight but once while turning. Once included an error code that I was told was an electrical system error but it didnt register. I have pictures and videos on my phone from the incidents. I have also written to the ceo of Jeep, attorney general and will be contacting an attorney from an article I found on this issue from April of 2019. My photos and videos will not send and upload.

My etc light came on as I was lsitting at a stop light . Complete loss of power and could not accelerate past 20 mph. I turned the car off, let it sit for a mintue and restarted and everything was fine. But then after a few more minutes of driving it happened again.

On November 14, 2019, my wife drove our 2018 Jeep Compass on a local street, within minutes, the car began slowing down in the middle of the road, came to a complete stop, and then shut off. Before the car shut off, the emergency brake light came on. On the first attempt, the car did not turn back on. On the second attempt, the car turned back on.

While driving on the interstate at 70 miles per hour my Jeep Compass loss power. The engine light, etc light esc light all came on as I was driving. This in turn immediately dropped my speed down to 20 miles per hour.

I only have 25,000 miles on my 2015 Jeep Compass and am now being told by the dealership that I need my throttle body replaced and the connectors to be rewired. It seems to be a trend here. How is this not a recall? car won't accelerate when it is cold outside, and my throttle sensor and engine light are on. Dealership wants over $1000 for repair, and it is not covered under the power train warranty. I live in a highly populated area, and it is so dangerous when your car won't accelerate during heavy traffic. There have been several occasions where I am forced to pull into a parking lot until the car will go again. Definitely could have caused a crash or incident.

Car has shut off while driving about 12 times the past 2 years. I noticed started after 6k. My oil is perfectly fine and I keep up with all the oil changes especially since it is a lease and is free with who I lease it through, its very dangerous and I have 4 children!!!!! also sounds a hard knocking sounds while accelerating as it shifts into another gear and jerking of the entire car forward when this happens I had to immediately slam on my brakes as it almost caused huge accident and not to mention shakes me and my children up every time this happens. Why aren't there any recalls on this if there are soooo many complaints?.

My truck stalled out while I was driving on I-75. I tried to restart it, and it came on but the electronic stability control signal and the electronic throttle control signal was flashing. The truck wouldn't go over 20 mph, and the signals never went off.

Driving on i70 & i81 going 70mph engine loses power. Was able to get off the road shut down the vehicle. Once restarted seemed fine but does this out of the blue and dealer can't mimic.

I lease my 2018 Jeep Compass. On four occasions the car has stalled and not been able to operate. Two of the stalling has been in traffic while the car was in motion (highway and intersection). Everytime I take the car in for service the dealership can't duplicate the problem. It did stall again at the dealership so I left it again. On all the occasions dealer had a look they said it was a part that needed to be repaired, then a software update. Then saying they left too much cleaner. Just last week I picked up my car from dealership with a full tank. I drove 100 miles miles and the fuel indicator did not move at all. I know when I have a full tank of gas I have a total range of 326 miles. Then the total range number kept fluctuating. At one point it said I had 328 miles left then went down to 200 then back up to 300 all within 6 miles of driving with a 3/4 tank full. Therefore it wasn't accurate. I took the car back in and dealership said it was due to a software update but I just had a software update last week. At this point I don't feel safe driving this car and I fear for my safety and am scared for the next time my car decides to stop while driving. It is unsafe and a hazard to myself and others.

I have been to papas now 5 times for the same two problems my start stop keeps stalling when trying to turn on 3 times now and has had the check start stop system light come on 3 times now. Also my part of my powertrain was broken and my strut broke.

Etc, air bag, tracking indicator lights come on randomly. Have had to go to jiffy lube twice to have sensors reset with one remaining. Eventually indicators come back on again. They come on while driving. Hard to get Jeep to move, "jerky" until I reach 20 mph. Have to pull over to turn car off then turn back on, continue for a mile and then repeat.

Vehicle not starting, unable to accelerate over 20mph, idling, shaking, radio unexpectedly stopped working, vehicle not communicating with the �computer� ecm.
