Takata recall , in the middle of driving all my warning lights on my dash went off and the car cut my fuel service off, leaving me unable to accelerate, I pulled over in a parking and the steering wheel locked up, I turned the car off and couldn't start it back up as the brake pedal was locked also. I have had this problem numerous times and visited the dealership plenty times and they aren't able to diagnose a real problem , it's a recurring problem. A new computer was put in it also and I still have problems.

9/9/19jeep Compass latitude just shut down no warning lights, alarms, or codes it stopped while driving I was leaving home depot in dearborn mi headed to the freeway I was still in parking lot speed limit 10 miles per hour when my vehicle completely shut down I restarted it first try drove a few feet it shut down again I had no control of the steering at all I finally managed to pull into a parking spot I call snethcamp dealer in redford mi I spoke to kate she suggested it was the oil but I checked and the oil was fine I got it started and drove to the dealership with the engine light on but it never blinked I explained to service that the truck just shut down then it tried to start but took a minute to crank diagnostic showed p0335 crank shaft sensor failed pins worn outs dealership replaced crankshaft sensor, connector, wiring 3 way I've been reading the complaints on the internet about the Jeep Compass just stalling out but there isn't any recall the internet is loaded with the complaint of this problem I am begging you to please investigate this before someone is seriously hurt.

Abs, traction control, and 4x4! came on when I started the car. Drove out of work's driveway stop at sign then accelarate down a steep winding hill and my car was accelerating by iteself. . Rpms went from 3 to 4 and I was not pressing the gas peddle. . I pulled over because the car didnt want to stop. . Abs felt like it came on and felt like no brakes. . Luckily it did stop with pumping and didnt flip over into the huge drain ditch. We havent even had this car a year and we already had to spend over 1 grand in the first 3 months for the relay. . In which there is not even a part to replace it. . Guess I either quite working and live on the streets or take my chances every day driving the death traps that we are paying thousands for. . And it seems these have all been known issues . .

4 separate time in less than 2 weeks my car completely stopped while I was driving. 2 times while driving to my job in city streets . And 2 times driving on a highway. This is very dangerous.
Car comepletely shut down, and went limp while driving 65 mph on highway. Car would not go over 10 mph, power steering failed, and check engine light began flashing. Very dangerous as car shuts off without warning at high speeds. Power steering came back on and check engine light was no longer flashing. Had it towed; upon arrival, car turned back on again with no issues or check engine light. Check engine came back on later in the day. This seems to be a recurring issue. Mechanic was unsure if it had something to do with a sensor or crankshaft issue.

While driving the car it started pulling to the left and steering wheel was shaking. There was also a pound squealing noise. Pulled vehicle to the side of the road and noticed the driver side fron tire was leaning inwards. Looked under the vehicle and noticed the sub frame had rusted through and broke.

2019 Jeep Compass latitude purchase date: 7/14/19 mileage: 26 first incident: 7/16/19 mileage: approx 75 on way home from work approx 7:00pm. Auto start/stop feature engaged, stopped at stop light in traffic. Engine shut down as normal, traffic light turned green, took foot off of brake to accelerate, car would not accelerate and had to put it into park and press the start/stop engine button to get the car to restart and then ran as normal second incident: 7/18/19 mileage: approx 100 on way home from work approx 5:30pm. Auto start/stop feature disabled, driving down the road, car in front turning right, slowed down to allow the other car to turn, Compass would not accelerate again afterwards. Pulled over and stopped completely, emergency brake light came on and alerted that it had somehow been engaged (I did not engage it). Had to put car into park and press start/stop engine button to restart car, then drove as normal. As a result of these two incidents I do not feel safe driving this car.
Electronic stability control problems with my 2013 Jeep Compass. 2 times already(one on the highway)where I am driving and the light comes on causing my vehicle to lose power and travel at a much slower speed(my speed drops). This is extremely dangerous. If this is a recall, Jeep, please look into this before this defect kills someone. First there was a defect in which my transmission needed to be replaced the year after I purchased it. Now this. If its a recall, please reach out to owners before someone loses their life.

Car won't go after stopping when foot is off break.
From on ramp to i290w. Going 30 mph and accelerated to get on highway and car engine was revving and vehicle would not go faster with stepping on gas pedal. I was on the highway and unable to go with the flow of traffic. Dash lights lit up and I had to go as best I could to emergency lane. I near caused an accident with the oncoming traffic on the highway.
My car stalled as I was driving, lucky enough I was coming to a stop light. When I turned it back on it worked fine. I have read this is a command thing to happen in Jeep Compass.
Engine light, traction light and flashing lightning bolt light came on while driving and vehicle wouldn't exceed 30 mph. Occurrence first happened when turning out of a driveway. I constantly have to shut down/restart vehicle in the middle of traffic, at times, to get back to being able to accelerate normally, otherwise, if able, I will pull over to the side of the road and place the car in park to see if there are any changes. Lights will randomly come on and drastically alter ability to operate vehicle. Other occurrences appeared whilst waiting idle in line at a drive thru, driving down city streets--stop sign to stop sign, driving over road imperfections like bumps or potholes, even safety speed humps. From my own research online, I believe I have an idea to what the cause of this issue is. Due to the flashing lightning bolt signal, it seems that the electronic throttle body has failed.
Dry, hot surface on highway. In construction moving through stop and go as two major routes were merging. Approached area going under a overpass, slight downward and sweeping left curve. Speed was approximately 20 mph off and on due to heavy traffic flow. Gently depressed brake to slow then went to gently accelerate and car just quit, had no acceleration. Looked at instrument panel and esc light is on. Be put hazards on, put car in neutral and restarted. Everything went back to normal. Truly terrifying as there would be no way for a tow to even get to me or for me to get out of the car! I was against left side wall, on a curve, under a bridge in a heavy traffic construction zone in cleveland! dealership will charge me $115 just to look at it. Reading up I find there will not even be a code so why bother. This issue is dangerous!.
Jeep will not start with key. Then I had to press on gas to get car to start, now it doesn't start at all with key. I have to use my automatic starter to get my car to start then put my key in. This should be recalled. This is not safe, and obviously a Jeep problem. I have researched this, and so many Jeep owners have this problem.
I get a no bus the how dash lights up nothing works when no bus shows up. I cant give a turn signal I don't know how fast im going. Nothing works when no bus is reading on the dashboard.
Takata recall it cut off on me at the light in traffic andit jerks when it pull I got everything fixed so they told me to get it checked I did its the computer malfunction.
While driving this vehicle at 55 mph on a parkway, the middle dashboard began randomly displaying 'service now' and 'service' needed messages for the hill-assist and auto-start features. It continued flashing other messages that I could not read because at the same time, my steering wheel completely locked up. It would not turn left or right. I had trouble applying pressure to the brakes. This was an extremely terrifying experience because, as mentioned, I was moving quickly on a parkway with other cars around and an inability to control or easily slow down my vehicle.

2014 Jeep Compass sport lost power while driving on the highway this vehicle went from going 65-70 miles per hour to barely being able to get up to speed of 30mph that is with pressing accelerator all the way to the floor. Once exiting off of the highway the vehicle continued to lose power when pressing accelerator pedal all the way to the floor. The vehicle will start, but barley has any power to drive. This is very life threatening and dangerous! this problem has been noted and should have been recalled way before now. I have seen reviews about this happening to other Jeep Compass owners. Please fix ASAP! before lives are taken. .

Computer message in the car information screen stated shifter service as I was turning on the car. Currently there hasn't been a recall on this item but according to the research there needs to be on set up. Everytime I attempt to accelerate there is a delay also upon braking just a tip jerks the whole vehicle.
As I was driving on an 8 lane expressway my vehicle experienced an engine stall while driving. I immeditaely tunred on my hazard lights to alert other drivers and crossed 7 lanes to come to a complete stop as I could no longer accelerate. I turned off my vehicle, turned to the on position to allow all dahsboard lights to turn off and then off. I turned my vehicle back on and continued to drive to my desitnation but this time when it happened I just was going up a hill, cars in front and behind me I was right in the middle of the intersection with another engine stall while driving. I need to be added to the manufactures list of the know defect of their voluntary recall they initatiated. My car is not safe to drive and becuase this is intermittent I can not recreate this issue at the dealership. I am not on the list of a recall even though I am having engine stalls while driving.
Takata recall complaint - engine, fuel propulsion system, vehicle speed control 2014 Jeep Compass sputters and jerks, difficulty accelerating daily on all types of roads and highways since 2016 until current and now since 5/6/209 and 5/10/2019 the engine light randomly came on along with the electronic throttle light. Unable to accelerate above 45 or 50 mph. . Only gain speed when going downhill. I was scared and had the car towed home I was on the freeway my life was in danger.
Engine burning way more oil than it should, the vehicle then will seize and shut down. This can be at any point while driving and gives no warning as to when it will happen. Jeep will not take any responsibility about this hazardous issue in their engines you shouldn't have to check your oil all the time to make sure it won't happen again. The dealership will have you come in for a consumption test and even putting a claim into Jeep corporate, they will not acknowledge how bad of a problem that is. Their needs to be a recall or fix soon or their will be lawsuits unfortunately when something happens.
I can be at full speed my car would reduce speed or completely shut down in the middle of driving.

While accelerating onto a highway, my vehicle suddenly shut off. I immediately put hazards on, tried to pull to the side, stopped and tried turning the car back on, after 2 attempts it turned back on but I was scared the entire hour long ride home so drove in the slow lane so that I could pull right off the highway if it happened again. I took the vehicle for service and they said it was the hood latch sensor. They replaced it and it worked fine for a month or so then again this happened while driving down the road about 40 mph, car suddenly shut off. Again another scary experience. Took the car back and they said the actual hood latch needed to be replaced. Pulled out of service center and it happened again, pulled back in to service center and a day later they called and said hood needed realignment. Worked again for a few months then today, again driving down the road, oil pressure low warning flashed on my dash then went off, the check engine light flashed on then yet another warning that read switch to p then desired gear. Car then lost almost all power but luckily had just enough power to get me to a side road where I barely made it onto the road before it shut off. I tried turning it back on and after 2 tries it powered on but when I put into drive and hit the gas, it would not move. It was like it would not engage in gear. This is an extreme safety hazard as this vehicle suddenly stop without warning while driving.
2014 Jeep Compass lost sudden speed on interstate. Couldn't accelerate over 20mph. 4x4, �lightening bolt� , traction control and engine lights all on. Extremely dangerous when traveling in high speed traffic. Was almost hit by a transfer truck.
Less than 2500 miles as of today. Since start of lease in January: check tire pressure system light on, checked 5 times pressure is fine. Car stalls and stops when driving on highway. Does not accelerate. Car fails to start, says press brake and start button but does not start until 3x of turning off and on. Sometimes d flashes; sometimes a@ flashes on screen. Does not always restart at traffic lights when a@ is not pressed. For this reason I always press a@ to reduce stalling. Car will not initially start when a@ is pressed. In the last three weeks: engine not warm enough notice appears constantly despite warming car 5 plus minutes in 60 degree weather. Rear passenger speakers crackling and static sounds. Strange creaking sound when accelerating, braking or driving around 30-35 mph. Stalling/gear issues/flashing r and d caused car to go forward over parking lot bump and into gravel ditch instead of reversing.
I bought this vehicle at hawk Chrysler Dodge Jeep 7911 w roosevelt rd, forest park, IL 60130 on 04/8/19 . I drove off the lot without a proper explanation/presentation of my vehicle, no one went over the features with me. When I arrived at home, a family member pointed out that the lcd screen qhere the mileage is displayed was not working. At first I thought it may turn on with one of the button on the vehicle because I've never owned a vehicle like this. After 10 -15 minutes of playing around with buttons I couldn't figure it out and called the dealership, the salesperson said to bring it back for an update. On the way back to the dealership I got into a car accident because I was on my way back to the dealer and I did not realize how fast I was going since mileage was not displayed. Now, I have damage on the front driver side of the vehicle less than 24hrs later. It is now 04/23/19 and the vehicle is under the dealership possession because the part to the lcd screen is on back order. According to the salesperson, I just needed an update, wrong.
The etc light comes on and the vehicle won't go when stepping on the gas. The engine cuts off in the middle of driving. Some days it starts some days it doesn't. Replaced the relay switches twice and the etc. Neither seems to help. I drive a highway to work everyday and I pray that if it acts up, I can find a place to pull over.
I was driving 44 mph headed to a red light intersection with 4 lanes of traffic coming the opposite direction when my Jeep shut off I had no steering, no breaks and no engine running. I was moving forward at 44mph unable to control the vehicle and kept hitting the start button. After several attempts the car restarted saying low oil pressure and I was able to steer the car off the road before entering the intersection and getting kiled. Car was towed to dealership d'ambrosio auto group. Oil was checked and I was advised there was no oil in the engine, the vehicle had 3,650 miles on it and it's brand new. Maintenance says oil change at 10k miles. Service mgr. Told me the same exact thing happened to the parts mgr. Sister. I have also been told by 1 other person the same thing happened to her while driving in traffic. Service mgr. Told me to bring vehicle back in 2k miles and if oil is low they would replace engine at no charge.
I took my car to get fixed and the Jeep Compass was having issues with the crankshaft my crankshaft have to be completely replaced and I just found out that there was a recall on the 2016 Jeep Compasses. My car won't turn off at high speed and that little speed in the middle of nowhere at a light driving this was extremely dangerous.
Electronic control throttle started to go all of a sudden.
My car would shut off while driving on highway and streets. My car shut off at high speed, low speed, short distance and long distance. I was advised by a mechanic that this was the crankshaft sensor that was recalled on 2016 Jeep vehicles though mid July and my car is August (recall s89). I took vehicle to Jeep dealership and was advised that the cause is the crankshaft censor but im being charged $350 for this same bad part because my vehicle is no longer under warranty. I almost dies on the highway due to this faulty part. I took my car to 3 mechanics and will out of pocket $800 because the recall did not extend to my vehicle. Its wrong and extremely unsafe!!!!.
Tl- the contact owns a 2018 Jeep Compass. The contact stated while his wife was approaching traffic, when depressing the break pedal when the vehicle seized. The driver was able to restart the ignition and experience the failure again. The driver was able to restart for a second time and drive to her destination. The driver stated on a second occasion that the vehicle was at stand still at a parking spot, when shifted gears to reverse and began to hesitated. The driver stated the check engine warning light was illuminated. The driver stated she was able to park the vehicle at a different parking spot but continue to experience the failure. The driver stated after the vehicle was parked for 30 minutes, she was able to drive to a dealer. The driver stated on a third occasion, when trying to shift gears to reverse, but the vehicle seized and steering wheel also seized. The driver stated she shifted to park and all the eletronical features and radio were illuminated and working but the ignition failed to start. The driver stated "engine was running" warning message was illuminated. The driver stated the vehicle was showing warning message "depress the break" and was unable to shift gears. The driver stated she was unable to turn off the ignition. The driver stated the vehicle was at a stand still station for a couple of hours before she was able to drive to dealer. The vehicle was taken multiple times to local dealer Chrysler Dodge Jeep of paramus located at 315 NJ-4, paramus, NJ 07652, where they were informed needing maintenance services. The driver stated she continue to experience the failure. The manufacturer had not been informed of failure. The failure mileage was ap 12,062. Dp.
