Gas pedal broke off while driving. It is made of plastic and the arm that attaches to the pedal snapped off. We towed to a shop to have repaired today. No warning lights or sounds. Thankfully I was going slow and not on a busy street. It could have been a bad outcome if I was merging into on coming traffic. My safety and others were at serious risk due to my car not being able to accelerate with no warning.

When I attempt to fuel the car, the gas pump immediately shuts off regardless of the gas station or the pump that I am at. The gas also seemed to not want to go into the tank, as I could see some of the gas leaking out around the rim of the tank even though it was empty when I began to fuel.

Car starts just fine, I let it warm up, it idles just fine. It is a 6 speed manual, I can reverse out of my driveway and drive 1 block to the stop sign and the car will stall immediately. This has happened more than 10 times in the past month. I have replaced the spark plugs as of yesterday 1/14/2026 and it ran fine all day through busy city and many purposely made stops along my drive and back home. Today 1/15/2026 I went to go to our gas station in town, and the car stalled again at the same stop sign. This time, it would not restart, it shut itself down, and I had to open the drivers door and close it for it tonregister the carvwas shutnoff, and then attempted to restart. No go. We tried the old fashioned push start and pop the clutch and this failed also. I ended up holding the pedal down for it to even sputter. I then waited a minute and retried starting the engine. It sputtered so much I had to give it more gas to keep it running. I made it back to my house and it died turning into the driveway. It will be parked until a solution can be found.

Upon engine start up at the home of my s/o, [xx], the warning "service automatic throttle control" appeared on the dashboard. Placing the vehicle into gear first in reverse, then in drive resulted in sudden acceleration and erratic lurching. I had no brakes whatsoever. At one point my s/o nearly hit on the dash per signed affidavit. I had to place my 2024 Jeep Compass in park in order to stop and then slowly maneuver it into a safe parking spot before having it towed to golling Jeep ram Dodge in bloomfield hills, mi. Tech diagnosis two days later showed error code 2299. But the vehicle started and operated as normal. Nothing wrong. After a test drive the next day to be sure, they had me get my vehicle. Although my door sticker gives a manufacturing date of 6/2024, I call your attention to NHTSA recall 24v-240 over throttle control system software. Strangely enough, this exact same malfunction occurred at the same address on [xxx], almost a year earlier. It was towed at that time to suburban jdr in farmington, mi where, again, my vehicle showed the same 2299 code but otherwise, performing well, advising me to come get my Compass. So, both times my 2024 Jeep Compass took control away from me, this time with no brakes, almost injuring my s/o. Fortunately, both incidents happened in her gated community with no pedestrians or traffic. In addition to this intermittent, dangerous malfunction, I owned both a 2018 and a 2021 Compass one of which, like the Dodge ram recall, had a horribly malfunctioning turn signal. The vins: 2018 [xxx] ; and the 2021 #[xxx]. This is real and dangerous. That I can attest to. Sincerely, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

I'm not sure if these are related incidents or not, but at the end of Nov. 2025 I was driving in heavy traffic when all of a sudden I noticed a warning light on the dash came on. Then as I kept going another light, and another, each one about a minute apart until all of the warning lights were on. Then the car started cutting out and then it just died. I had been making my way over out of traffic because of the warning lights all coming on, but the car died before I could get all the way over. I had to be pushed out of traffic and into a parking lot. I spent the next 4 hours trying to get it started, a mechanic I called said it was most likely the alternator. Being it was 10p I couldn't get it fixed until the next morning. I bought a new alternator and had the mechanic fix it the next day and everything was fine. No problems at all until about 3 weeks later when I came out of a store at 9pm and the car wouldn't start. I tried several times, it was turning over no problem, it had plenty of power but wouldn't start. After about an hour of trying it finally started up. I hadn't done anything just kept trying it. There were no warning lights, no nothing. It just started and ran fine. Now it has been about 3 weeks since that incident and it has been having many problems. It is completely unreliable and will die while I'm driving it. There is no warning lights that come on. I never know if or when it's going to do it. The check engine light will come on but when I took it to a shop to have them see what was wrong, the check engine light was not on. I have done this twice and both times the check engine light is off when I get there. It has died in the middle of traffic and starts right back up, it has done it many times and won't start up again for half an hour. There is no warning, no signs, it just does it. This of course is very unsafe and dangerous. I am at a loss as to what to do. I read there is a problem with this car and a sensor that goes bad.

When driving on expressway at about 70 mph. Engine light comes on. Car loses acceleration. Start stop states it’s unavailable. Have to pull over on side of road and turn car off. Restart car and it drives normally with engine light on. Took it to a local dealership and they stated it need ed a software update. They then test drove the car and problem did not reoccur. The very next day while driving on the expressway again at about 70 mph. Same problem has occurred. The car has 26,996 miles on it as is still under warranty. How can a software update cause a car not to function while driving. If we would have been in a middle lane and unable to pull off on side of road we would have been required to stop and turn off car in the middle of the expressway.

My 2019 Jeep Compass (VIN: omitted per instructions) experienced a serious powertrain issue where coolant leaked into the transmission, causing overheating and vehicle failure. The car became inoperable without warning at 74,000 miles. There were no prior signs or symptoms. A certified Jeep dealership confirmed a mechanical failure involving a faulty internal part that allowed transmission fluid and coolant to mix. Jeep denied full coverage despite it being a known issue among other owners. This is a significant safety risk, especially if the vehicle were to fail while driving. I am the original owner and the vehicle has been well-maintained with no accidents. A case was filed with Jeep, and a partial repair discount was offered, but the out-of-pocket cost is still unaffordable. This defect needs to be addressed as it renders the vehicle unreliable and unsafe.

My start/stop system stopped working suddenly and it jerks forward almost stalling as it accelerates and decelerates. The radio glitches and flips between settings at a fast pace. It randomly loses power when accelerating and traction control flashes on dashboard. The check engine light came on for a few days then went off.
Major electrical issues and car cutting off in traffic and every warning light showing and will send show repair bill once it get it from turnersville newjersey Jeep dealership. Today or tomorrow.
Car dies looses power and stall and multiple lights on dashboard failure causing power failure while driving. Battery's were replaced twice and still problem and car stuck at Jeep dealer and service manager give me a bill $600 for electric diagnostic and $1000 plus taxes to repair.
Stopped at stoplight. Engine start/stop was selected on and stopped engine per usual. Released brake and engine didn’t restart leaving vehicle un-powered in traffic. Shifted to park. Let vehicle recycle on/off power a few times. Engine was able to be restarted several minutes later. This happened before ~1 year ago and dealer replaced aux battery and torque sensors but couldn’t replicate failure and never disclosed any actual fault found.
While stopped at a traffic light, I went to accelerate when the light turned green. The vehicle turns off to save gas when it is at a standstill and will power up when the brake is released. Today at the light I went to release from the brake and it would not move. Instead it started I had to turn on again. Which it took several times before it would start. Cars were behind me and one almost hit me due to the light being green and I was just sitting there.

Thermostat keeps going to hot or stops working and drops to cold. Replaced thermostat coolant sensor since that’s what the code popped up. Didn’t work it continues to out. Radiator cap is collecting engine oil and not coolant. Engine oil is getting into my radiator hose. I had just got my radiator and stuff replaced by the dealership. I only had it for 6 months and been putting a lot of money in it and I’m still having engine and thermostat and radiator problems. Also it keeps smoking when it already has coolant in it.

My car randomly turns off and I’ve had it looked at and they can’t find a problem I’ll have it reset and it soon starts randomly turning off while I drive. New batteries checked alternator.
Everytime I drive it acts as if it’s not getting sufficient fuel to the engine . Have had multiple things replaced to try and fix the problem but still not helped . Whole engine sputters when I stop and acts as if it’s not getting any fuel to accelerate. Has almost caused a few crashes . To my surprise recalls have been made for my vehicle but says they have been repaired. I personally don’t think they have.
The vehicle just went through an inspection with the dealership before being sold to me. The vehicle is stalling when making turns and driving. There are no warning lights, there is a full tank of gas, no warning of it going to happen and it just stalls. The Jeep stalled at an intersection, stalled driving through a parking lot and again today stalled turning from an intersection. It almost caused me to get rear ended in an accident. Luckily they did not but that was scary enough for me to check for recalls and to my surprise there is for my year and type but not my VIN, my vehicle was manufactured April 2012, does not have high miles and should not be having these issues.
Cuando estoy con el vehiculo en marcha suben las revoluciones del vehiculo este diminuye la velocidad corriendo, lo cual podria ocacionar un accidente.

When filling the gas tank and it gets near full, the gas will splash back onto the side of the car, the ground and can get on my clothes, shoes, etc. Jeep vehicles have a long history of this specific problem. No recalls for this VIN. Please help. This is dangerous and scary. It happens every time I fill the tank.
While driving Jeep losses power and stops. At garage now and they can’t find reasonable explanation. Has less than 50k miles. Danger while driving since it just shuts off while no lights come on to indicate problems.

The vehicle mostly jerks when in drive mode/accelerating. There is possible oil leakage (slightly for the time being).

My coils had to be replaced several times. Last week I started to drive my car on a major road, shaking and no power. My car had to be towed once again. My mechanic told me the Jeeps have issues with the coils. Not sure why this keeps happening but now it's scary to drive my vehicle and not knowing how quick this happens again. Recently my check engine light came on and off, changed the fuel gas cap, and had a code read. My mechanic mentioned that there was a safety recall regarding the manifold ? if so was this ever done and where I would like documents provided. Please respond via email vfelton5@gmail. Com.
I have had problems with a hitch or pause in the acceleration of my 2012 Jeep Compass since at least April of last year. I purchased the vehicle used in January 2021. In and of itself, the hitch would be a minor thing, but I think it's related to other problems I'm having with the vehicle losing acceleration, which has become a real point of concern. This has occurred multiple times when I start accelerating from a stop, such as when I'm at an intersection. The car loses acceleration, the traction control light sometimes will come on, the steering will tighten up like I've lost power steering, and the car will come to a halt and stop idling. Nothing happens when I give it gas after it's stopped in these circumstances. I learned that if I turn the car off and back on, that will serve as a sort of reset, and I regain power and can get back on the road. The car has had active codes for a catalytic converter and a crankshaft position sensor. I replaced the crankshaft position sensor in April of last year (with an oem sensor) after losing power while merging onto an interstate. That seemed to resolve the loss of acceleration problem, but it recurred starting in December of last year. I replaced the crankshaft position sensor again recently, this time with an aftermarket sensor, as I thought the sensor I put in previously may have been defective, but the problem has started occurring more frequently. Losing power while turning into or crossing intersections is a scary thing, and I've begun to feel I cannot drive the car safely. I've read accounts online of many Jeep Compass owners having problems with losing acceleration, and I've begun to suspect that the problem is not simply related to the parts associated with the active codes. The sad thing is that I just finished paying off the loan I took out for this car, and I have little extra money. I don't know what I'm going to do. Please investigate these vehicles (problem affects various Compass model years).
It is not allowing me to check everything but the bottom line is this. It is highly inappropriate to know that there were three recalls on this vehicle it says 2 were completed there were investigations done and I do not have the ability to view them as a consumer especially whrn I was trying to buy it and now when I am trying to find out if it is related to a problem I am having. I need the full detailed list. I have asked the dealership and not received the documentation, please provide them. Thank you. April king.
While driving I often get an oil warning light and have had my engine system entirely and randomly shut down while driving. I have the oil changed regularly and serviced regularly and still have this problem. The entire system shuts down while driving and I’m left unable to move. It’s incredibly dangerous!.
Coolant mixing with oil three times in a month span with new parts being replaced. With further inspection, driver was not at fault. Vehicle malfunctioned. Overheating after replacement of thermostat, head gasket, and water pump. Auto start/stop goes on and off requesting service.
Burning through oil! no light on for oil and not to mileage for oil change. Happened to check oil this morning and there was only a tiny bit on stick like hardly any. This is not the only issue with this vehicle.
When I fill up with gas, the car will shake and die, upon starting. Due to this, I no longer fill up the car - I merely put $20 in gas - at a time.
With absolutely zero prior indication of a problem, the car became completely immobilized in drive while attempting to turn after being stopped at a traffic light on a busy four lane road. Every imaginable code was cycling through on the dash and all warning code lights came on. I was unable to shift the car into any gear. Meaning, I could not shift into neutral to push the car safely out of the way of traffic. Additionally the car could not be turned off. I could not roll down the windows and the touchscreen was inoperable. After approximately 6-8 minutes I was able to shift into neutral to push the car to a safer area. The same immobilization issue happened 3 days later after the battery and alternator were replaced. This time, I put the car in reverse and it became immobilized in exactly the same way. The car turned itself off after approximately 10 minutes and was towed to the dealership where it has been for 30 days. The dealership scanned the codes on the car and the result was 300+ error codes. The dealer cannot diagnose the problem but they have been able to replicate the issue. The car is well maintained and there were no warning messages or other symptoms of any problem prior to the first incident January 27, 2024. The car remains at the dealer and it is available for inspection.
This 2019 Jeep Compass, has mixed the coolant and oil causing a blown head gasket, according to the dealership, it needs a new engine, and something that is too common on the Jeep Compass, as mine is shy over 8k it is not covered under warranty. No warning lights came on, no lights of high temperature in the transmission, oil or coolant. The car did stall in the middle of the road, causing risk for myself and the child I had in the car. As this is a common problem with the Jeep Compass, how is this major issue not a recall? why is Jeep/ Chrysler waiting and endangering many of their consumers lives, and not fixing this issue??? the vehicle is available for inspection, with towing being invovled as I am terrified to drive this vehicle.
When stopped at a stop sign (on a slight incline, if that could be a factor), the Compass suddenly lost power. No reaction from pressing the gas pedal at all. In drive or in reverse. The check engine light came on and the temperature gauge went all the way up. Putting it in park and restarting cleared the check engine light and the temperature gauge was right back to normal. Almost like nothing had happened. Thankfully it was a small intersection with no other traffic. But could this happen on the freeway?.
Engine cuts out while driving. Had to pull over to the side and reset by instructions from google. Took the car to a local garage and he said it was a computer issue. This part was replaced 3-4 years ago and is failing again. A red symbol like a lightning bolt and the check engine light was on.

I was driving my 2018 Jeep Compass with my 5 month old, my car slowed down to a complete stop and said put in park while I’m driving, the d on the shift control kept blinking. As I put it in park in the middle of the road it still didn’t work, so I shut my car off and tried to restart it, it did nothing and then randomly started on its own 2 minutes later, after driving it, it happened again! I almost got in 2 car accidents in less then 20 min as I can not move it to the side of the road it just stops on me. This has happened once more the day after! no one can explain what my car is doing. But I’m afraid to drive it, and scared I’ll get in an accident or cause one because it’s already happened 3 times!.
Vehicle experience a dashboard message stating “high coolant temperature” or “coolant temperature too high” followed by an immediate engine shutdown. ” it happens while I'm driving or at a idle.
My Jeep has died 3 different times in traffic. Once at full highway speeds, once in a intersections, etc. All with my minor child involved. They have "serviced" my vehicle 2 timed already and returned it with the same dangerous issue. They are saying they fulfilled the recall because they replaced a part, yet the issue persists. Last time I checked, fixed things work properly. Please force them to fix or replace my Jeep before myself or my child dies.
While driving, the Jeep Compass lurched forward several times rather than having smooth acceleration. Within 5 minutes, the vehicle was sputtering and the engine just shut down completely. The "brake" light illuminated on the dashboard, but no check engine light has ever been on. I was able to restart 4 times as I was trying to get to a mechanic. The last time I restarted it was struggling to start. Mechanic has since looked at it, and there are no codes to indicate what is going on. I did notice online that there are other complaints of Jeep Compass shutting off while driving, so I wanted to file a complaint.
