The vehicle experienced sudden acceleration while the consumer was parking in driveway. The vehicle struck a large tree.

While pulling into the driveway vehicle suddenly accelerated and crashed into a tree. Vehicle went 70 feet from start over a patio , crushing all the furniture until it hit a maple tree. Vehicle was totally wrecked, and air bags deployed. The engine was still racing, wheels were spinning, horn was beeping and there was smoke around the vehicle. The vehicle was still in drive.

3 Car Accelerates On Its Own problem

Failure Date: 12/11/2001

Consumer took gear shift lever out of the "park" gear and engaged drive gear, vehicle accelerated suddenly, hitting two parked cars, one moving truck, and was stopped by crashing into a garage. There were no injuries to report from this incident. No determination has been made as to the cause of this problem.

4 Car Accelerates On Its Own problem

Failure Date: 06/20/1999

When traveling and upon approaching an intersection, depressed the brake pedal and vehicle continued to maneuver, causing extended stopping distance, and resulting in unwanted acceleration. Consumer has contacted the dealer . Please provide any further details.

While waiting at a stop sign vehicle suddenly accelerated for no reason, possible cause faulty throttle sensor. Also, Jeep has a higher bumper than mid-sized Toyota and went over bumper of Toyota, causing damage.

Driving vehicle, started to brake; for no apparent reason vehicle suddenly accelerated, took to a dealership; they could not find the problem & would not try to fix problem.

7 Car Accelerates On Its Own problem

Advised by NHTSA recall to have spacesaver spare tire replaced with a full sized spare tire as per recall. Took vehicle to dealer for repairs. After picking up vehicle discovered that they had not fixed problem. In addition vehicle experiences sudden acceleration.

8 Car Accelerates On Its Own problem

Sudden acceleration twice, once causing accident.
