Electrical Equipment problems of the 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Two problems related to electrical equipment have been reported for the 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Electrical Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/18/2004

When the consumer attempted to brake, the pedal went to the floor, causing extended stopping distance. There was numerous repairs that the vehicle needed; the windshield wipers, gas cap(s), new keyless remote and the temperature gauge did not work. Recall# 02v053000. The consumer discovered there was a recall regarding the power assist, the consumer was original told there would be no charge and then later was told the charge would be $400. 00.

2 Electrical Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/01/1998

Due to the design of the velcro tape console overhead compartment, on a hot day the velcro tape loses its stick and the garage door oper ends up resting on the push-rod, the the garage door spontaneously opens and closes because the garage door button is resting on the push-rod. Resulting the garage door come crashing down on my child and another time on my car.
