Three problems related to car will not start have been reported for the 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Went out shopping. Drove 15 minutes from home. Car running at normal operating temps. Went into store for 10 minutes, on return car would not start. Would crank and turn over, but not fully start. After letting sit for 1 hour, the car started with no other action. While trying to start, all other functions worked ok. Radio. A/c. Headlamps. Etc. Car also starting stalling after the "no-start" issue began. Stalled at any temp, any speed, highway, around town. Car stalls, but still have lights, flashers etc.
The contact owns a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While driving between 30 and 50 mph, the vehicle shut off in the middle of the road without warning. The contact almost crashed at the time of the failure and lost control of the vehicle before pulling off to the shoulder. The vehicle would not restart immediately most times, but would start approximately three to four minutes later. The dealer could not determine the cause of the failure. The failure mileage was 135,000. Updated 11/17/08 the consumer believed the problem was electrical. Updated 11/24/08.
While turning igniton switch vehicle would not start without servel tries . Dealer was contacted, and stated that fuel seal needed to be replaced. Please provide further information.
