Failure Date: 10/20/2005

I have 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited that the rear window is not safe for a child at all my 4 year old son got his hand rolled up between the glass and the rear of the door pillar luckily he screamed before real damage could have been done. I don't know why this was never looked at by Jeep cause the Grand Cherokee has the same body style from 1999 to 2004.

Intermittently consumer cannot get the windows to roll up or down. Dealer informed the consumer that the window motor regulator needed to be replaced. Old regulator was replaced by a new one designed by the manufacturer.

4 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 09/18/2003

Had car 1 yr, 62,xxx mi; when we test drove with 36,xxx miles, the brakes shook violently when braking; dealer installed new rotors; 3 months later I replaced brakes; 3 months after that vibrating again - rotors turned and replaced brakes again; brakes are squeaking again now; in shop for third time for transmission problems - slips gears, clunking in low gears, won't shift, surges ahead when stopping; revs up prior to shifting; dealer keeps replacing parts to fix the problem; replaced 2 electrical window regulators (drivers & passengers side). This gorgeous vehicle is a nightmare.

5 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2003

This is the second time in six months that the seat supports have broken away. I am not a big person and the seat is not often moved. This structural failure of the seat is unusual, when abuse is not present, Chrysler should be assistance, when it is apparent that there is a either a design flaw or structural failure.

6 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 04/20/2003

The front electric window on the passenger side stopped working. I can still hear the motor click like it is trying to roll down the window but nothing happens. All other windows work correctly.

The air bag light was intermittent. The passenger side window and the driver side lock assembly was inoperative. The dealer was not willing to do anything to help. Scc.

8 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 06/29/2002

The car is not quite 3 years old and the passenger rear window fails to work. The window is not used often. The daimeler Chrysler stated because of teh mileage they would not perform the repair free. My question to daimler Chrysler was what does mileage have to do with a window working? either they work or not. I mentioned that there were several tb on the power windows working sporadically.

9 Power Window problem

Left headlamp appears to be burned out, when ride over bump it goes on. Lights/headlights on dashboard flicker on/off while car is in garage parked. 13 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 10/10/2000

What a lemon! we are averaging $2000/year in repairs. Power windows that stop working, water pump breaks, brake rotors need replacing before brakes wear out, leaking differential, transmission, and now we're told by dealer service department we need a new transfer case. Whoever designed/built/sold this vehicle doesn't have much pride in their workmanship.

Since puchase of vehicle there has been a vibration when applying brakes. Took vehicle to dealer, and they replaced rotors. Consumer states that recall 00v136/man recall 879 explains the problems vehicle is experiencing, however consumer has been charged for all repairs. 19 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 07/19/1999

I bought two Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles in April of '99. In both vehicles, the window regulators have stopped working. I can't roll-down the windows, and the problem can't be fixed immediately, because the parts are on a national back-order list, so other Jeep owners must be experiencing similar problems.

20 Power Window problem

Driver's side power window does not operate properly, the window does not roll up or down.

21 Power Window problem

22 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 06/12/1999

The window on this vehicle has not worked for some time now and I am concerned for the safety of my family. The window does not work at all. I have had this vehicle into our local dealership three times now and they can't seem to fix it nor do they take me seriously. I would appreciate any help I can get.

23 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 06/01/1999

Have experienced numerous quality problems including the 4 wheel drive grinding and jumping, window function problems, rear washerhose leak into rear compartment, rough transmission into reverse from park, oil gauge failure and engine clicking noise during acceleration. Dealer on many occasions says they are normal for the truck to experience and not to worry. I don't believe them.

24 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 05/01/1999

Abs light, and brake light came on, indicating a brake malfunction. Wiring to the right wheel speed sensor was cut by lower control arm. The vehicle has electrical and suspension problems. Driver and passenger side power windows inoperative. Fuel pump failed. Vehicle is leaking transmission fluid due to pan gasket failure. Fuel is leaking from fuel tank due to defective fuel sending unit seal. Abs light, air bag lights are on and a/c blinkers are not working due to ignition switch looses. Vehicle makes noise due to power steering gear assembly failure.

25 Power Window problem

Our 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee is 4 months old and is nothing but trouble; the transfer case was replaced, the car makes a grinding noise at highway speeds and the dealer thought the replacement of the transfer case would solve the problem. It didn't however. Furthermore the gear oil had to be replaced because the car would buck and even stall sometimes when I would make tight turn. Furthermore the transmission is sometimes clunking. Our power window needs a new motor. The car keeps on pulling to the right and that still hasn't been fixed. We have been very disappointed and wish the lemon law would be a little bit more protective of consumers than car dealers and manufacturers.

26 Power Window problem

All of the windows in this Jeep have stopped working over time. The first time was Jan. 27, 2000 (shortly after purchase) rht front window stopped working and regulator was replaced. On April 28, 2000 the passenger front window stopped working and regulator replaced. On October 6, 2000 the passenger front door window stopped working again and the regulator was replaced again. On June 26, 2001 the driver front window and the passenger rear window stopped working and the regulators were replaced. Finally on June 4, 2002 the drivers rear window has stopped working. This time the dealership says that the Jeep is out of warranty and wants to charge to $217. 00 to replace the regulator. The Jeep was covered on the other previous instances. I feel that there is an ongoing problem with the windows in this vehicle. I am afraid that one day all of the windows will fail on it making it impossible to get out of this vehicle if I am in an accident or other incidence.

27 Power Window problem

I will be stopped at a light or in traffic when all of a sudden the rpm's will become very erratic. The needle will jump up and down from 700 to 200 to 0 etc. The vehicle has stalled on several occasions in the middle of traffic almost causing a rear end collision. The problem only happens when the car is in drive, with foot on the brake. Been to dealership several times. They have connected a Chrysler CO-pilot to monitor and record problem. Have recorded problem several times. Currently waiting for a response. I do know of 3 other people with 1999 Grand Cherokees that have the same problem. Since the vehicle does stall out in the middle of traffic, it does represent a safety issue. Since this obviously is not exclusive to me, Chrysler needs to fix the problem immediately, or take back the vehicle. Again this is a brand new Jeep. For the record, I have had other defects with this vehicle, although minor compared to this one. Defects include rattles, window motor failures etc.
