Visibility: defroster/defogger system: windshield: blower for 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited. Dual climate controls are inoperable and cold air is constantly blowing on my windshield interior, causing it to fog up, limiting my visibility considerably.
Repeated failure of blower fan for which there is apparently not a suitable fix from Jeep. Current fix is either (a) part from supplier other than Jeep which fails every 6-9 months or (b) Jeep recommended part which reduced air volume so dramatically that defrosting windows is unsafe. Failure of the blower motor is also unsafe due to the inability to defrost the windows.
Rear brake and safety lights on 2001 Jeep keep not working flaw in workmanship and construction of assembly. Driver seat coming lose at base brackets that slid the seat back and forward. Window lifts break constantly. Blower door brakes ceasing defrost and windows fog during cold days.
I own a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee with dual climate control. Whenever I try and use the heat it does not work, I have no front defrost for my windshield. The only air coming out of my heating system is cold air. It is because of a faulty blend air door. This can be a dangerous problem if in the cold weather the windshield fogs up, there is no way to defrost it. Visibility: defroster/defogger system:windshield:blower.
Visibility: defroster/defogger system:windshield:blower the blend doors on the 2001 Grand Cherokee limited break causing a no heat condition which will not defrost the windshield in the winter causing poor visibility.
I have a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee with about 35,000 miles. The heating system has recently stopped working. I checked this problem on the internet and it seems that many 1999-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokees have this problem. It appears to be quite costly to repair. It obviously affects visibility on the windshield.
The vehicle does not blow hot air out the passenger side only cold. The blend doors are broken. Hard to defrost a windshield with no heat, hard to see out the windshield.
2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee= my vehicle should have been covered under the lemon laws of the us. Equipment failures: - window regulators- replaced 2 - heated seats- both seats have the wires burnt in two in them; possible fire hazard. . . Not covered in recall of a later year - blend doors broke- had to replace all three motors and doors - left turn signal does not function consistently - door lock system is failing: driver's door has quit locking; has to be done manually; back door behind the driver makes a squawking noise when you lock the doors, tailgate is not locking; alarm will go off if you open the door, but it is not locked. _constant small coolant leak.
Heater just stopped working. Have a/c but no heat.
Dual side heating and air is not working properly on my 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Passenger side is ice cold constantly, while my driver's side is working properly for now, but for how much longer? after a lot of reading of other articles, there should most absolutely be a recall, especially if I have to pay that kind of money to get it fixed, then I should be reimbursed.
Heater does not work properly.
Hvac, a/c, defrost, heat not functioning. Blend doors, recirculation doors failure at 60,421 mi. Dealer repaired and then failed again at 72,170 mi. Potential safety hazard in northern climates. Windshield cannot be cleared of snow & ice while driving.
This is a sever problem with my 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited. The blend door seems to be malfunctioning and if the window begins to fog and I turn the defrost on it shoots out cold and makes the front windshield fog even worse.
The contact owns a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee. When the contact attempts to activate the heater in cold weather, it does not function properly. She also cannot defrost the windshield while driving at any speed. The mechanic stated that the blend air door caused the failure, which is common for the Grand Cherokee when it reaches 50,000 miles or greater. The current and failure mileages were 85,000.
My heat only comes rom one side of my 2001 Jeep grand.
Incident: defog & heat does not work; had to drive 25 miles with windshield wipers on constantly in order to clear windshield, still did not do well even with newer wipers. . . 1) I woke up, started up Jeep Grand Cherokee in order to defog windshield since it got cooler overnight leaving fog on windshield. 2) defog would not work, even though the vehicle had warmed up sufficiently and temp gauge indicated such as well. 3) had to take to dealer since regular mechanic could not perform service; replaced actuator, blend door and other parts. (unk if replaced parts are available since dealer performed service repair.
Dash creeks after vehicle is turned off. Both passenger and driver side vents blow cold air regardless set climate control temperature or if a/c is on or not. Defroster vents blow only cold air.

Dealer estimated 2000. 00 for repair due to need for dashboard removal. Problem was blend door broke or damaged. Vehicle normally was running with a/c on, but now it sometimes did not work. Problem showed up after taking car for a/c service to Jeep dealership. Car is 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Air conditioner vents and defroster vents no longer controllable via automatic thermostat. Blend door failure. I am unable to heat, cool, defrost, or ventilate the interior of the vehicle including the front defrost function. Inability to defrost the front windshield resulted in conditions unsafe for continued operation of the vehicle due to poor visibility.
I have 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee with electronic dual climate controls will eventually require major repair in order to cure hot air/cold air blowing from vents when they're not set to do so. The cost to repair this issue, which has been known to pop up again after another 50k miles after repair, is generally $800-$1500 from a dealership. Should you opt to do this repair yourself, the entire dashboard will need to be removed, quite the arduous process, and parts are approximately >$300.

A faulty blower motor resistor has rendered my heater from working. The temp is around 20 degrees and without the blower, I cannot defrost my windows to drive safely. The blower motor resistor is out of the vehicle with visual electrical charring. The wiring harness is also melted. I've talked to 2 different dealers and their parts department has dealt with this problem before. So, I contacted the Jeep customer service 800 number. But according to your "customer service" line, I need to get my vehicle back to the dealer so they can tell me what I already know. My question is why the blower motor resistor is back ordered 4,000-6,000 parts? and why if I take my vehicle back to the dealer, will I be expedited a part. Are they creating a demand by not supplying the part and then the dealers raise the price of the part? I have already had one dealer say that if they locate one, that it'll cost more than the price advertised on their web site. This is the worse customer service I have ever had.

Windshield defroster failure.
A/c , heater does not function properly, sporadic air flow.
My 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee heater/ac blend doors are stuck. I cannot defrost. This causes dangerous situations where the wind screen is fogged, and I cannot see the road.
The defroster doesn't work correctly due to the blend doors failing to open when needed. I see this as a very dangerous safety issue in cold/icy weather here in new england. It seem to be a common problem after speaking with the Jeep service people and other Grand Cherokee owners.
I get no heat coming out of the vents, only cold air. It was 10 degrees this morning and I have a 45 minute drive to work with no heat. Could be a safety issue if I didn't park in a garage. There would be no way of clearing the windshield of ice. Went to the dealer and they tell me it could be at a minimum $1,200 to fix it and then they won't guarantee it will be a permanant fix.
There was no heat on passenger side due to blend door failure. Therefore defrosting the windshield properly was not possible. This was followed shortly by a leaking heater core which filled the car with coolant mist during vehicle operation. The blend doors assemblies were replaced along with the heater core to solve the problems.
Visibility: defroster/defogger system:windshield:blower ventilation blend door failure.
Front windshield and passenger side windows fogging. Ac making lots of noises. Smell of coolant inside vehicle.
Hvac blend doors broken in a position such that only cold air blows from system. This allows for no defrost of any of the front windows posing a significant hazard during winter travel. This is the second of this body style Grand Cherokee (99-04) I have owned, and both vehicles experienced the same failure between 50k and 60k miles. The first vehicle (1999) was repaired by heritage Chrysler Jeep in ozark, mo for about $1300. 00. The second vehicle (2001) has just experienced the same problem over last winter and is now in need of repair. I believe that this condition exists due to a poor design from the manufacturer and that the threat involved from potential limited visibility in the winter, coupled with the significant cost of repair and safety concerns, warrants a recall.
Ventilation system in 2001 Grand Cherokee blowing cold air and just not functioning. When windows were fogged the system will not clear window and could become a safety hazard.
