We purchased a 2001 Grand Cherokee limited from a local dealership with 50,000 miles in may of 2005. No heat from both passenger or drivers side vents. Blend door hinges separated and inop. Recirculation door also inoperable vehicle had 53,500 miles at this time. Drivers seat heater failed at 65,000 miles. Pcm failed at 75,000 miles and this was the only repair covered under warranty. The Jeep now has 81,000 miles and we have had vibration and pedal pulsation from the front brakes three times since we purchased the vehicle.
My passenger side air vents suddenly started blowing cold air in 2005. When I took it to the shop I was told it was the blend door which would require removing the whole dash and cost approximately $800. I asked if there was a recall on this problem since it appeared to be a manufacturer's defective problem. I was told there was no recall, but that made no sense to me. I did some research and found that I am not alone in the problem. Something should be done about this because many people can't afford such a costly manufacturer's defect repair.
Passenger side of Jeep Grand Cherokee blows cold only cold air. Must be a popular problem. Repair cost exceed $1200 and a respectable dealer or repair shop. Updated 09/10/.
My heater and defroster does not work. This is known problem related to the blend door failure with Jeep Grand Cherokees with dual climate control. This is very dangerous in icy weather.
Blend door on air conditione/heater faied. It cost over $1000 to have fixed to get the heater back operational only to have it fail less than a year later which the dealership won't warranty.
Heating system worked fine until warm air suddenly stopped blowing out of vents. Took the vehicle to the dealership and they said this was a common problem that they probably do about 3 or 4 a week. Total repair bill was $780. I didn't have this kind of money and it apparently was never recalled, just TSB. It has been two winters now driving with extremely fogged windows due to no heat. Jeep has done nothing to help with this huge expense.
Heat and air system dual climate control, blower stops working will not defog windows.
Blend door failure.
On my 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited climate control is not functioning properly. No matter what the setting is, it blows cold air from some vents and hot from others. The repair cost is estimated around $1200. The brakes were almost causing a loss of control while driving down the mountain road. The truck would start shaking violently as I apply the brakes, to the point where the steering was not affecting the behavior of the truck. Repair and part replacements cost $820. Outrageous!.
Heater blend door inoperative a common defect in this model. Heat on drivers none on passengers still not corrected. I refuse to pay $1300. Repair bill on what is Jeeps defect.
Blend air doors for ac/heat fail and cause loss of heat and windshield to fog up. Been serviced and replaced twice along with ac/heat controller.
