1 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 03/12/2008

The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact researched his vehicle and learned that there were two brake recalls related to his VIN. He was upset because he was not notified of the recalls by the manufacturer before purchasing the vehicle. There had been no failure to date. The recall numbers were unknown. The current mileage was 1,100.

2 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 09/04/2007

Vehicle was traveling approx 25 mph. Approaching intersection low pressure was applied to brakes with the intent to gradually increase pressure in order to come to a smooth stop. Almost immediately after applying light pressure to the brake pedal the brakes failed. The brake pedal was pushed completely to the floor but had no effect resulting in a complete failure and the vehicle entered a busy intersection. A delayed reaction application of the emergency brake gradually slowed the vehicle to a stop. Authorized service center (at place of purchase) stated the master cylinder failed and needed to be replaced.
