The mechanic diagnosed that the water pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. In addition, the contact stated that three months later, while driving at 35 mph, the battery warning light illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The contact also noticed a burning plastic odor coming from the air vents. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the alternator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the initial failure. The failure mileage was 42,000.
