This is my third time experiencing this system failure. Each time while driving and the vehicle in motion, the truck shuts off. Each time this has almost caused an accident as I was turning onto a street. The first time it shut off in the middle of driving was as I easy slowing down to stop at a red light and lost all controls as the vehicle died. I did not accidentally touch anything. This is extremely dangerous and something needs to be done bout it ASAP. It turns off unwarranted while driving. I have to put the vehicle in park and press the start button to turn the vehicle back on. I do not know what part is causing this problem. It happens out of nowhere occasionally and not everyday either.
The 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee overland I purchased two years ago has started to completely stall while driving causing the power steering to not function as well as the brakes. This engine power turns off randomly at around 10-15 mph (when making turns, stopping and/or accelerating) but there are no warning lights that appear on the dash. All electrical power to the car still functions and the engine stall is not noticeable until applying pressure to the brakes or trying to steer the wheels. The first incident was (easter) 28 April 2019. The car shut off around 10 miles per hour as I made a left turn crossing the incoming lane into a parking lot. Luckily there was no car coming or a serious accident would have resulted. The frequency of these types of stalls have become greater. They are happening at least once a week without any type of warning. The most recent incident was November 7th 2019. This vehicle was released from the dealership on November 1st, 2019. The vehicle has been taken to the dealership multiple times to find the problem as well as maintenance. Nothing has been found that would cause this. The dealership says the vehicle is perfectly fine. As simple test drive will not be able to find the problem. This is the same concern as fca recall t59 and NHTSA recall # 17v-572.
Vehicle shuts off within minutes of starting while stationary.
Takata recall while I'm driving the vehicle it will shut off. I will put it in park and it starts back up. This is unsafe because I can be driving in traffic or be in an intersection and it just shuts off. I've taken it to have a mechanic look for any readings and nothing is coming up. It also shuts off while trying to start the vehicle up for the first time. It takes several attempts, again nothing coming up when taken to the mechanic. This has been going on for almost a year.
Yesterday my Jeep engine turned off twice while driving on city roads. This happened in the morning on my way to work and at night on my way home from dinner. Luckily this happened on city roads either before getting on the highway or after getting off the highway, as I take the highway daily for work. Conincidentslly both instances happened while attempting to turn right. I did not hear the engine turn off while driving, but noticed because as I was attempting to turn there was no power steering. The radio, dash and interior lights never flickered or turned off when the ingine stalled. Again, luckily I was not at a high speed when this happened and put on my hazards and was able to slowly come to a stop with the brakes but they were very slow to react. I put the car back in park and started it right up both times. Very scary experience to have the engine just shut off in the middle of traffic and panic to avoid an accident from occurring.
Vehicle in motion, but decelerating from higher speed to a stop or lower speed. Engine shuts off. No warning/dash lights come on everything else (radio, lights) continue to work. The only way to know the engine is no longer running is the power steering and power brakes don't work and the rpm on the tachometer go to zero. Car typically will re-start with no issue, but will almost immediately stop again. When the car sits for about 15-20 minutes, it'll start right up and drive fine. There has not been a pattern, other than slowing down. It's stalled on me the following times and situations: * slowing down to turn right off the highway - was raining, started right up after stall ran fine (2014) * slowing down to a complete stop at an intersection, would restart, but not stay running. Waited 20 minutes for towtruck and the vehicle started right up. (2016) * slowing to a stop for light in town, started right up, but would not remain running, waited 20 minutes ran fine (2016) * stalled in stopped traffic. Started right up was able to drive to a parking lot but stalled again and would not restart for 15-20 minutes. Ran fine once started again. (2017) * stalled in stop and go traffic on I-95 in philadelphia. Started right up again, but had to wait 20 minutes for it to remain running (03/2018) * stalled when coming to a stop for stop sign. Wouldn't start right up. Had to wait 15-20 minutes then it started and ran fine. (09/29/2018) have taken to the Jeep dealer on the three earlier occasions, however, they indicate that they are unable to replicate the situation and there are no engine codes to review - therefore they are unable to correct the situation. So I have been driving the vehicle as is, but after the last two times of this occurring I must remedy the issue. Assistance will be greatly appreciated.
My car turns off while driving differnt times of the day could be in the morning or could be during the day. It just shuts off with no sign the lights are on in the front the radio is still on its happened several times. Some times does not want to start randomly. . . This is my 3rd time taking it into the dealer with this same issue and they keep saying nothing is wrong with it. This last time I was on the freeway and it just shut off. I just want them to repair it. The fist time I took it in I want to say I was under the warranty miles around 34 or 36000 I am going to confirm with the dealer.
In the last 2 days, my 2012 Grand Cherokee has shut off while driving twice. On 10/29/2015 exiting the highway with my 2 year old daughter. The second time was the following day 10/30/2015 with my wife driving by herself. I have had the vehicle for about 30 days. I purchased it from the dealership. The vehicle shut off. There were no warning lights. The radio and lights all still worked. I had to coast to the side with no brakes, no power steering. Once stopped I could put it in park and start it again without issue.
Vehicle engine shut off during right turn in busy intersection without any warnings. Unable to turn or control vehicle. Also the brake on lights come on in the consul during normal operation. Based on other Jeep model recalls, I believe the problem may be related to the tipm-7 module. The vehicle is a Grand Cherokee overlander 4wd. Vehicle was able to be restarted and has not had another failure, however, this is an unsafe driving situation when the vehicle's engine dies while in motion in any road condition. Maybe related to recalls p54.
06/30/2014: car was craning slow. Outcome: battery replaced. Brake booster recall and replaced. 08/18/2014: car was towed in. Outcome: fuel pump overlay was replaced. 09/15/2014: car was towed in not starting. Outcome: battery replaced and new alternator replaced. Last incident happened on 09/12/2014 I was driving home, the car panel started flashing, vehicle shut off, and I lost power steering. No control of my car. Thankful I wasn't in an accident. I had my children in the car. Precious cargo. This is a huge safety issue and concern. If I was on the freeway I can only imagine what would have happened. My car only has 37k miles on it. An alternator should not be needed to be replaced at such low mileage. I can understand 100k. Plus 2 battery replaces needed within 2 months. This car is not reliable nor safe.
