I was driving on the highway and their was a tractor trailer traveling at a slow rate of speed. I preceded to pass it on a two lane road. As I passed the tractor trailer my now flashing check engine light came on and the my vehicle started to shake, so I pulled off the road immediately. My vehicle had about 100000 miles on it and had ran great up until this point. I had it towed to the local authorized Jeep dealership. They let me know that my lifters and cam was damaged and needed to be replaced in which was a $4000 job!.
My car was services on a fuel pump safety issues;;;now im experiencing the same issues. . . This is a major issue. . . This can cause my life and other on the road. . . If my car keeps shutting off while driving. . . I contacted the dealer. . . I was told I didnt have any warranty after was replaced it accordding too them. . . ? thankful no accidents but my car shutt it off. What are my options now???.
The car has shut off three times and on the third time I was driving about 40 mph and almost lost control. Very dangerous lucky I was exiting the expressway.
Warning lights on dash randomly come on and off. Back hatch randomly opens without activation. Happens when vehicle is stationary and moving.
Having issues with gear shifting and the major complaint is the vehicle completely shuts down without warning and I have had vehicle in multiple times for the same issue and no answers. This happens as vehicle is moving and you have to pull over with no power no steering nothing. Scary deal. This has been going on for years.
The catalytic converter went bad 6 months after I purchased the vehicle as I was driving on the hwy the check engine light came on I took it back to Jeep they told me $2300 to fix it. And I had just purchased the vehicle 6 months prior.
In August 2017 I purchased the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee from mossy motors. A recall 17v-435 was issued and an unknown dealership inspected, not reprised, the alternator and marked complete to the recall. In may 2019, the alternator, which was in recall 17v-436 quit working while driving and surged the pcm on my car. Causing all steering, lights, etc to quit working and thankful did not cause an accident. I was stranded ok the side of the road and had to be towed. Upon replacing the alternator (we paid for because we thought all recalls were complete as stated - until further investigation), it was found the pcm also needed to be replaced due to surging from the alternator that was inspected, instead of replaced. Fca is reimbursing for the alternator but said they will not for the pcm, although I was told from an fca customer care specialist, fca was aware that if the alternator was not replaced it would indeed cause the pcm to fail. I have attempted several times to dispute the non-reimbursement for the pcm replacement, but no one at fca could get a case manager to call me back and just instructed me to contact the dealership. The dealership who completed the inspection is unknown to myself, and stated unknown from the customer care representative at fca.
The covering in the dash is coming up that may prevent the air bag from deploying.
Engine recall for tipm.
Starting issues, starts up and quickly cuts off. All lights and power are on. Plenty of fuel in tank but not overfilled. I think it is the fuel injection area. I worry it will just cut off due to that while driving. This has happened at least 3 times in the past 3 weeks, it is becoming more frequent.
Takata recall while I'm driving the vehicle it will shut off. I will put it in park and it starts back up. This is unsafe because I can be driving in traffic or be in an intersection and it just shuts off. I've taken it to have a mechanic look for any readings and nothing is coming up. It also shuts off while trying to start the vehicle up for the first time. It takes several attempts, again nothing coming up when taken to the mechanic. This has been going on for almost a year.
Takata recall the airbag does not work got into an accident and airbag did not pop out. The light for the airbag comes on and off.
Car's tipm has been messing up. They say there hasn't been a recall on my model for that and another says it has been fixed. My car won't start at times, my horn honks at random times and just today my car stalled while on the interstate. I know the tipm had been a problem with these vehicles but I cant get any help with mine without paying out of pocket. I've about had it with my Jeep.
Alternator failed due to recall. I was not notified of this until after having failed and needing to be towed after being stranded on the side of the road in the middle of the night. All the cars functions had completely failed. The car was unable to be moved to a safe place, doors were locked, leaving my dogs locked and gated into the cargo area until lowing assistance arrived. Since the alternator was fixed I have had multiple visits to the dealership for replacement of battery, Jeep failing two more times while driving down the road, needing additional towing assistance. Multiple electrical malfunctions continue to occur, including: forward collision warning, "brake warning flashing for no apparent reason. The passenger side heat failed needing to be replaced. All of the seat heaters within the vehicle have failed needing to be replaced. Most recently the drivers seat move forward function has stopped working, make the vehicle difficult and unsafe to drive as it is not at the appropriate drive distance. Contact to dealer to discuss fixing issues as they are electrical and most likely due to recall of the alternator. Jeep dealer declined that it was a related issue and that Jeeps are known for these issues. Car is felt to be unreliable and unsafe to continue to drive at this point with the unknown reasons and causes for the recurrent malfunctions.
Unknown cause of overheating. Authorized service performed by dealer. Upon initial diagnosis of vehicle no code was put out while simultaneously in active overheat mode. Multiple investigations performed by service techs were performed.
4 times in the last 3 weeks, the last time just today, as I was decelerating and turning right while getting off highways onto exit ramps, the steering wheel felt like it locked - the power steering turned off, as did the power brakes - I had to coast, and the rpms showed 0, although all the lights were still on. I was forced to put the car in park - while still on the exit ramp - turn off the car and turn it on again to get it to drive normally. Which it did, as if nothing had happened. But it's unnerving and certainly unsafe, and a quick search on the internet reveals it seems to happen quite frequently to other Jeep Grand Cherokee 2012 drivers.
I've tried 6 times in 3 years to get my recall done since I learnt of my fuel relay . Now according to my mechanic my catalytic converter is messed up due to waiting on the recall. The first 3 times was back ordered, the 4th time I went to my appointment and was told there computers were messed up just needed to see the car to still be on recall list. 5 and 6th time they never got part in. This recall is messing up my car. My check engine light will not go off due to the converter due to the fuel relay. If my check engine light is on I can't remote start it in cold weather . When will I be able to actually get my recall done before it messes up more of my car.
1. Jeep dies for no reason when decelerating it happens at highway speeds when taking the foot of the gas it last happened on highway 1 on a big curve, steering and brakes lost power on a cliff side road. (scared me and the family 1/2 to death) it has happened on the dumbarton bridge in commute traffic it also happens when decelerating on off ramps or coasting to stop lights. You need to completely stop the car put it in park and press on the brake to restart it. This in traffic is also dangerous Jeep says 10 things may cause it and they will not fix try any of then because they cannot pinpoint which one it is. 2. Cruise control slams on the breaks for no reason. Another dangerous problem no cars in front of me, open highway, no overhead bridges or guard rails in sight and the brakes slam on.
Dashboard delaminating, leather seat ripping under normal ware with lots of maintenance. The leather used in the dashboard is separating from the dashboard itself and causing a wrinkle effect, where as the leather seat just ripped even though its cleaned and conditioned at least 4 times a year.
Starter turns over but wont crank and leaves me stranded. Horn goes off at random times. Windows and door locks sometimes wont work. Google says its the tipm. Happens while vehicle is moving and non moving. Has happend multiple times.
A ticking noise coming from the engine area. When accelerating the ticking gets louder. Had noise checked by mechanic and it was the lifter and rocker arm. Had some replaced, this would be the third time. I have a 3. 7 engine v6 Grand Cherokee and found that Dodge has a recall for the charger, which is the same company.
Fuel pump, recall done but not effective. Almost three times a week, the Jeep Grand Cherokee does not start or stalls right after starting. This is when I am parked and will just keep cranking and not start. The dealer wants to charge me to replace the fuel pump and does not acknowledge the recall is faulty. Driving on the highway, the car stalled on me for no reason and then took 5 minutes of cranking to finally start again. Luckily I was not in the middle lane on i95. At first it happened once or twice a week, now it is almost everyday.
At 150,000 miles, developed a leak in the combination a/c condenser/transmission cooler unit. The dealer says this is essential to the transmission but not considered as part of the drivetrain. This defect seems to be very common with the wk2 model Jeep Grand Cherokee beginning in 2011 through the present. There should be a recall to correct this design defect.
The car started overheating randomly while driving on the highway. Pulled off, and the radiator hose was leaking, and the battery light turned on, in the vehicle. The car was leaking fluid, believe it to be radiator, and ac fluid. Took the Jeep into the mechanic to verify the issue, and figure out what was going on. Shortly before taking the Jeep to the mechanic, while driving, the service 4wd light appeared, and then the red lightning bolt turned appeared as well, on the dash as well. Not sure what is going on with it now.
Wind shield wipers, over drive light and head lights on and can not turn off. Signal lights and interior lights not working.
Since purchasing this vehicle, the entire wood trim inside the vehicle has broken off chunk by chunk and continues to do it. It started with the front around the start button and has worked around to the passenger dash and now is falling off on the doors. Sometimes I will get in my vehicle and see a piece of wood on the floor board. Dealership states that only the carbon fiber trim on the srt is covered but not the wood for my 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee overland. First started when my leather dash started to bubble and wrinkle up. Also, the plastic vents on the dash broke during the leather dash bubbling up and once that was fixed by recall, dealership stated that plastic vent is not covered even though it is caused by the leather wrinkling and bubbling up.
The metal bezel on cup holder trim peels and causes cuts on hand and fingers. Its the center console shifter bezel trim with lightening assembly. This has been going on for about a month now. (65k miles) I've cut my hand multiple times. I believe its the hot/cold that causes to peel. Poor craftsmanship. 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee laredo. Apparently on Jeep forums there are plenty of complaints there about this. I'm not the only one.
Thermostat housing needed to be replaced because check engine light on03.
The dashboard has warped and lifted significantly from the underlying structure, particularly near the defroster vents and windshield area. The deformation appears to be caused by failure of the internal adhesive or mounting system used to secure the dashboard. The vehicle has only approximately 55,000 miles, and the issue does not appear to be due to normal wear or misuse. The vehicle and dashboard are available for inspection upon request. The warped dashboard creates potential safety concerns related to the passenger-side airbag deployment area, as the deformation occurs near the airbag seam and mounting points. A compromised dashboard structure could potentially interfere with proper airbag deployment in the event of a crash. In addition, the raised and distorted panel can cause glare or visual distraction while driving, which could affect driver visibility and concentration.
Coolant on Jeep went to 245 red light went on. White smoke with bad smell out of the exhaust and no heat. Burning smell outside of car. . Took the car to petboys. They filled it with antifreeze and said it could be the head gasket . . Took it to Jeep dealer ran test said it was fine. . . 4 days later went to 245 again burning smell and white smoke out of exhaust. . Filled it with antifreeze again. Drove on highway and local streets. . . I'm afraid the Jeep will go on fire. . Please help, me. . Thank you.
Takata recall . Carbon fiber trim on the interior has peeled off.
The vehicle turns off while driving at high rate of speed. The first time it happened my wife and 2 year old daughter were in the vehicle in traffic. Brought in twice to the Jeep service center and the could not duplicate. The vehicle just turns off randomly while driving. Opened a case with fca Jeep na and both the service center and fca have told me sorry about your luck we couldn't find anything wrong with it. I find it hard to believe that an auto maker would feel comfortable releasing this vehicle to a customer let alone having it on the road in general. I don't have anything to attach to the complaint because the vehicle is still at the Jeep service center.
I recevid a recall in August of a alternator that would be replaced. . How extremely important to repair the vehicle to ensure your safety and your passengers. It still , hasnt been fixed. I call them , they hang up on me.
I own a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee VIN: 1c4rjfctxcc178319 for the past several months since purchase, the Jeep has had issues starting and has stalled while driving at high rates of speed. . Read more...
