We received a recall for this Jeep last fall(2014). The number is p60/NHTSA 14v-634 labeled alternator. The recall states that the alternator diodes in our vehicle may experience a rapid failure. Variability in the failure mode ranges from no output, reduced output, and/or a fully shorted to ground condition. Depending on the alternator failure mode and timing, vehicle electrical system voltage may drop to critical levels, disabling systems such as antilock brake system(abs), electronic stability control(ecs), electronic control module(ecm),and/or central body controller(cbc). The driver will have little or no detection of the alternator failing, which can result in vehicle shutdown while driving and/or an underhood electrical fire. We contacted our dealer twice in the last 5 months and both times were told they do not have the parts. By their own statement this could result in a critical and disabling situation. We should have this replaced today or given a safe vehicle to drive until ours is made safe. How long do they get to put off repairing this????? why has Jeep not made these parts available? and if they have why are dealers not installing them. Our dealer is fox Chrysler Dodge Jeep in auburn, new york.

My car continued to make a sound as though the engine was still running when I turned the ignition off. I think this could be something to do with the recall on the alternator diodes. It seems the alternator may be failing. The power when the gas pedal is applied hesitate's at times also when driving. My fear is that I will be driving at a high rate of speed on the highway and the car will loose all power completely. This will leave me without any steering control at all too. I fear for my life at this time. I was told by larry h. Miller that I should replace it at my cost. When I asked how much that would cost the service advisor ben kary lied and said he did not know the cost to replace the parts. Also, if there are parts now then the alternator/diodes should be being replaced by Chrysler now before a severe catastrophe occurs. I also had the brake booster replaced. Since then there is a rattle under the hood on the drivers side where the brake booster would be. Every time I go over a bump in the road a rattling sound happens. It is as though this is something to do with the suspension of the car or alignment too. Ben kary, service advisor at larry h. Miller 7800 e. 22nd street, tucson, az. 85710, 520-258-6016 has not been able to identify this problem. Ben kary wants me to come in for yet another day to try to get the problem identified. This will make 3 days of losing time from work and being inconvenienced. I have been to this dealer on 2 occasions and have gotten no satisfaction or resolve at all.
