6 Body problem

Failure Date: 11/12/2020

While parked the rear hatch has recently started to go up almost all the way and then come back down, sometimes very fast other times slowly. It hit me in the back the first time. I called the dealer to inquire about recall r27 / NHTSA 15v-393, they said it was not listed for my VIN, the vehicle was built in 3/14 and displays all of the issues listed in that recall.

7 Body problem

Failure Date: 09/23/2020

On 9/23/20 my 2014 grand Jeep cherokee accelerated on its own causing me to crash into a fountain wall. I was parking and almost at a complete stop when my car went haywire. It felt as if I got hit from behind, my dash lit up, my engine revved real loud and my car lunged forward. There was enough force to lift my front end and place it on the 2nd tier of the fountain wall. I was in a tight parking area at the hialeah gardens building department. Please google earth the parking lot to understand the parking lot and how compact it is. I had an investigation done on my car and received a very generic response via email regarding the findings and that Chrysler / Jeep were not led to believe that the incident was due to a manufacturing responsibility. Not one person has called me to discuss. Jeep is very lucky my kids were not in the car and that I didn't kill anyone or myself. Customer care has been a joke. They told me that I can request call backs but it will never happen. I have a right to know what the investigation showed on my car. My car accelerated on its own! I cannot get any response from the Chrysler / Jeep on the investigation of the little black box and how they came up with their decision. I believe they send these generic emails out to shut you up and hope nothing further comes about. They know we have no means of talking to anyone and get away with having defaulted SUV's. They get away with lying and being unobtainable. I have additional pictures if you need to see them.

11 Body problem

Failure Date: 01/03/2020

In my 30 years of owning many different vehicles, I have never experience door popping. All my hinges upper and lower needs to be replaced on my 2014 grand Jeep cherokee limited 4x4. From my research, this is something that many Jeep owners have complained about and are left in disappointment as I am currently. There is no recall or TSB on file which is mind-blowing considering this is a safety issue. If it was one door, I could say, ok understandable things happen. But all 4 of my door hinges upper and lower need to be replaced be cause all my door pop. Jeep manufacture has decided to stick their head in the sand and ignore the complaints of this safety issue.

12 Body problem

Cowl panel trim is crumbling and causes a 'bee humming' noise when vehicle reaches 55 mph or more. Very annoying and drowns out radio/music. The chrome trim around the cup holder on the center console is DE-laminating from the plastic and has created a sharp as a razor edge on the cup holder when you must insert your fingers and or had to grab your beverage while driving. The cut that I got was quite painful, and if traffic was worse I could have been distracted enough by the pain to get into an accident. 21 Body problem

Failure Date: 01/24/2018

I have owned 5 Jeep cherokees and this has to be a lemon. I purchases it new. I have had many many recalls, most major. Recently I heard water splashing under the passenger seat, which resulted in water coming into the passenger side flooding the carpet. I was told that the box holding the battery was where the water was located. They have been working on it for two days and can not find where the water is entering. Now they are preparing to remove the trim for a possible location. They checked with my extended warranty company and they said this was not covered. I am afraid this issue will cause a fire in the vehicle since the water is entering the electrical system. I was told no recall from Chrysler addresses this major issue with Jeeps, even though is is common. I am afraid to look at my bill if they ever find the leak. We have been having major rain here in georgia this year and it is not used very much, so it was stationary when this happened. I was told this was a very difficult task to find where the water was entering the vehicle, and they had many Jeep vehicles with similar issues. I have no idea when I can get my vehicle back. I cannot upload photos as they have the vehicle.

23 Body problem

Failure Date: 09/09/2016

I put the car into park, and as I was exiting the car, at a dead end road in my neighborhood, I realized that the car was going in reverse, as I was half in and half out of the car. The door knocked me to the ground, and the car almost ran over my foot. I got abrasions on several areas of my body, sprained my knee, elbow and my hand. My glasses also got ran over and were destroyed. The car kept going in reverse, and hit a chain link fence before I could run to catch up to it. The rear hatch door is all scratched, the window scratched, the left rear quarter panel is dented and scratched, inside the hatch on the left hand side of the frame is scratched and dented, the left rear light is broken. I called brown's Jeep in patchogue, NY after receiving this recall approx 8 weeks ago, to schedule an appointment to have the recall fixed, and was told by them that everyone was calling about that recall, and I'd have to be put on a waiting list for the recall. I haven't heard a word from them since. I feel as though Jeep should pay for all the repairs to my vehicle and fix the recall ASAP, as well as pay for new glasses for me, and give me a loaner car until the repairs are complete. I also think I should be compensated for getting banged up, although I didn't break any bones. It was very scary. I got a police report as well.

24 Body problem

Failure Date: 07/13/2016

Wife parking on 1st floor of parking structure in downtown green bay, WI July 13th 2016. She shifted to reverse to adjust the vehicle so as to enter the parking space correctly. The vehicle started to move back while she looked over her shoulder to see what was behind her. All of a sudden the truck stopped going back & violently jerked forward. The truck started moving rapidly forward even though it had not been shifted into drive. The front tires jumped up on the curb at the front of the parking spot. The truck hit the cement wall violently at the front of the parking space. The front of the truck actually went through a portion of the cement wall. The motor was revving loudly while the truck was pressed up against the wall as if trying to push its way through the wall. Wife had difficulty getting vehicle to shut off as the push button start was ineffective due to the vehicle not shifting easily out of gear. The accident resulted in $11k+ in damages to the truck and $40k+ in damages to the parking structure. There is a recall on the shift lever for the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee which is s27/whtsa 16v-240. Tried to get recall fixed a month prior to the crash but was advised by dealer the parts were not available as of yet. Crash occurred while waiting for parts to be available. Chrysler says this recall is not the cause of this incident. Reluctantly filed accident claim with my insurance company. Claims adjuster advised he had 2 other incidents where the insured claimed this model of truck had shifted itself into either reverse or drive on its own.

34 Body problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2015

The collision avoidance system activates and slams on the brakes without cause while traveling forward which is startling and dangerous because I have been nearly rear ended by another driver for braking without cause. When parking the gear selector feels like it is in park it is actually in reverse or neutral. Brakes squeak and were wearing groves into rotors when vehicle was brand new. Also the front bumper has never fit correctly as well as the fender moldings peeling off. Very sad for a $55,000 vehicle.

35 Body problem

Failure Date: 09/04/2015

I would like to report 2 incidents where my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee has rolled after it was \put into park and the engine was turned off. The 1st time happened on 9/4/15 after parking my Jeep and exiting the vehicle it rolled backwards approximately 1' into the car behind me. No damage to the other vehicle and only small scratches on my rear bumper. The 2nd time was 9/5/15, after parking the vehicle on a small incline the vehicle rolled 2' forward into a guard rail post causing significant damage to my front bumper and grill. I brought my Jeep to the smith haven Chrysler Jeep dealer today 9/23/15 to have the vehicle inspected and the service representative told me "this is normal especially on an incline" and "it should not roll more than 3 feet". I could not believe I was being told that this is a normal and there was nothing to do about it. This is clearly a safety issue.
