While driving at 80 mph, a very large buck ran in front of the car on the interstate. After driving back by to see the deer the next day it was probably around 300 lbs. The entire front portion of my vehicle was caved in. No airbags deployed whatsoever. Hitting something so massive at such a high rate of speed should have deployed some sort of safety mechanism I. E (airbags!!!!!).

The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign numbers: 14v636000 (electronic stability control) and 15v461000 (equipment) however stated that the part was not available within a reasonable timeframe to schedule the recall repair. The dealer did not give a specific date for when the part would become available and indicated that it may take longer than six weeks. The manufacturer was contacted and could not provide an estimated date for when the contacts vehicle would receive the recall repair. Additionally, there was an abnormal noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. The approximate failure mileage was 13,000. Djr.

I had a roll away incident back around July 25th 2015 after placing my truck (2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited) in park in front of a gas station located on rt 23 south in riverdale NJ with my child in the car. I had just bought gas and realized I needed to get something inside their store so after the pump finished I pulled up in front of conv. Store, placed it in park and ran in for not even a minute, come back out and my truck had rolled away into a one way exit sign. There is a nice dent in my right front bumper. . I just passed this gas station over the weekend and the sign is still in the same bent position since my truck rolled into it. I know I placed my truck in park and locked the door on top of that because my 8year old was with me and I was only going in for a minute. Thankfully a sign and a rock (it didn't hit the rock) were there otherwise the truck most definitely would have rolled out onto the highway causing death or injury to my daughter and death or injury for whoever hit my truck. My stomach was in my throat. A friend of mine who knew about my story saw your recent article about this potentially really bad problem and sent me the link. After reading this I know this is exactly what happened to me. Please, I'm a concerned driver and parent and not feeling good about this truck after reading your story and experiencing this first hand. Again my daughter was in there and thankfully she was ok. When I realized it had rolled I ran to her, opened the door and she said daddy the truck moved without you in it. So any help or guidance would be appreciated. Not looking to start trouble but I'm paying 400. - a month for something I thought was safe. What do I do next?.

A teen driver pulled out in front of my wife and she hit her going around 20-25 mph. The whole front of the Jeep needed to be repaired to the tune of almost $6,000. 00. However, the airbags never deployed. My wife did go to the hospital complaining of lower back pain and a few days later had a sore neck as well. I realize it was a high speed impact, but the with that much damage it seems like the air bags should have went off.

The car make an awful sound when driving . Once the speed is over 30 miles per hour the windshield cowl make a very loud noise it has been doing it for a long time I just couldn't figure out what it was until I took it to a dealer and they said that it was common problem with these vehicles. It has just been getting worst over the years.

I pulled into a parking spot in a parking garage but was favoring the right side. I backed up approx. 6-8 feet to straighten the car out. As soon as I put the car in drive, it lurched forward at full throttle, with my foot still on the brake. I couldn't stop it. The car accelerated rapidly and shot forward, over the parking barrier and rammed into the cement support structure of the deck. The impact was jarring and the car jerked back upon hitting the structure. Although the distance was only about 6-8 feet, the impact did $3,300 damage to the car. I took photographs of the accident site and the damage to my car. The photos show that my front tires laid down skid marks on the pavement and up and over the parking barrier as I was trying to stop it. A clear indication I was on the brake. The force of the car pulling ahead against the brakes was very strong and was only stopped once I slammed in the parking garage wall. After contacting Jeep, I was referred to the special investigation unit. I met with a special investigator and he evaluated my vehicle and sent the findings to Jeep for further evaluation. The investigator declined to view my photos of the accident scene. A few weeks later I was notified that the findings showed nothing was wrong with my car and the case had been closed. I appealed but was once again denied. Other occurrences of a similar, but less dramatic, nature occurred with the vehicle both before and after the accident. I reported several of these to the dealer. Finally in may I was told I had a problem with my transmission and they reprogrammed it. I have not had any occurrences since. I am convinced my car had/has a serious transmission issue that poses a danger to both me and those around me. I have read numerous stories online about people experiencing similar issues with the transmission on 2014 Jeeps.

Sunroof has failed 6 times and is now ready for it's 7th repair. The sunroof's automatic functions stop working so when it fails you have to push the close button repeatedly while the sunroof moves maybe 1/4" on each depression of the button. The dealer replaced the motor once and for the other 4 times I was told it needed to be calibrated. The last sunroof failure they went in and went through all of the electrical connectors and said they found some electrical wiring problems and fixed them. The sunroof failed again 2 weeks later. The airbag warning light, due to another electrical connector issue. The electronics in the vehicle malfunctions regularly which affect the radio controls, navigation, central locking, phone, and I get random erroneous errors on the dash display. The radio/navigation units have been replaced. The navigation screen locks up but the voice will continue to give you verbal instructions. If you manually lock the vehicle and start walking away the horn will beep twice and the vehicle will unlock like the keys have been locked in the car, even though they are in your hand. I was told you cannot use the lock buttons on your door to lock the vehicle. When you walk up to the car and grab the door handle to unlock the car it fails, and you have to grab the door handle all over repeatedly to get it to unlock. The dash display will give false messages while driving like already in desired gear and no one has touched the shifter. The voice will come on randomly and ask you what number you want to call, again no buttons nor the display have been touched. Error on display memory system, the programmed seat switches were replaced. Transmission issue, the module was replaced. Rear hatch failure, finally switch was replaced. Rear tail light lens replaced as it was full of water. Check engine light, faulty oil pressure switch. Engine vibration, bad ac comp.

January 2nd. 2015 I pull out of the fashion square mall and turn on to rio road into the right lane. This is the turn lane on to route 29 north. I travel about 50 yds. The reporting officer said my vehicle was traveling about 40 miles an hour when I rear ended a truck I felt the impact and heard the crunching metal and I vaguely remember seeing the top my hood being shove back. I was stunned I knew I was hurt and I was having trouble breathing. Someone call 911 and the medics loaded me into the ambulance. I could hear what they were saying but had trouble focusing. The police, and fireman where discussing why the air bags had not deployed for the amount damage done I also remember the medics asking why the airs bags had not deployed.

October 13, 2014 my 2014 gr cher has the most dangerous shifter design I've ever used in a motor vehicle! the ignition switch does not kill the engine if the vehicle is in gear even if the vehicle is stopped. The shifter does not always enter park when operated which creates the possibility that the vehicle may drive off when the driver believes he has stopped it. . Combined with the quietness of the motor, ambient noise may make it impossible to know that the vehicle is in gear with the motor running! after pulling into my garage with landscapers working in the yard, I thought I had placed the vehicle into park and hit the ignition button to turn it off. Unfortunately, the shifter kept the car engaged in reverse. And, the motor didn't turn off! not only did the engine not shut off, but the vehicle began to drive backward as I exited the driver's seat. Fortunately, I jumped back into the vehicle and avoided being crushed between the open car door and the garage door frame. Unfortunately, the car backed out of the garage with the door open causing $4,000 damage to the vehicle. This is my 8th Grand Cherokee (since 1983) and I am very, very unhappy with Jeep's designers. This needs to be fixed. And I should be made whole for the $4,000 body work!.

4 car pileup on i684 putnam county NY, in which our vehicle was 3rd in line, this is horrible section of highway were connecticut drivers need to merge to the far right lane (3 lane hwy) to exit towards connecticut. As the trooper and tow truck driver told me "they pull vehciles off that section every day. " the incident took place in the far left lane (passing) the first vehicle (connecticut license plates) slammed brakes to attempt to merge to the center lane, 2nd vehicle in line also slammed brakes to attemp to miss car 1 and cars 3 (our vehicle ) slams into car 2. The vehicle behind us 4th in line also made contact with us with very very light damage. Vehicle 4 was the only vehicle that didnt need to be towed from the scene. Our Jeep was almost as direct as a front hit as you can get just slight more towards the passenger side. Radiator support is pushed all the way to the engine block, both front fenders buckeled into the driver and passenger doors which made the fire departs have to pry the drivers door open. Windshields is also cracked untop of much more damage, no air bags deployed and my fiance (the driver) was brought by ambulance to the er and suffered a broken nose by the impact causing her to slam face against the steering wheel , and some other bruises and pain in neck and back area.

Approximately a year prior the vehicle experienced a similar failure. Jeep Grand Cherokees have a integrated roof flush rail. It is standard equipment on this Jeep. Racks and recreational objects such as kayaks, canoes, surf boards and bikes are attached to the racks that are in turn attached to the flush rail. The flush rail failed and two kayaks were pulled off the roof during mild to moderate desert winds. This failure resulted in two kayaks and the thule rack equipment being thrown off the roof onto the highway. The roof rails are only attached to the roof with compression nuts and the roof is not reinforced in the area of the flush rails. This design is seriously under engineered and extremely dangerous. The thule racks and straps held the kayaks together which resulted in 100 pounds of kayak, approximate 17 feet by 4 feet thrown in the path of oncoming vehicles. Jeep has been informed and takes no responsibility for this failure.

I have a long narrow driveway with a bit of a slope toward the house. When going out the driveway I seen a trash container tipped over. I put the vehicle in park, letting it idle, while I exited the vehicle to remove the container. Looking back I seen the Jeep backing down the driveway toward the house under it's own power. I tried catch it,but it hit the side of the home on a garage wall. Total damage to the vehicle is around $9400 I've yet to get the house damage estimate back. I didn't see if the vehicle was in park or reverse when I exited. I pushed the shifter clear forward till it stopped, then exited. The shifter has to go thru reverse before it gets to park. In the past I've noticed that it did not always go into park when I had put it there. I drive like normal people drive. I have 55+ years of driving experience. We shift by feel and not always looking down at the shifter. When a shift lever goes thru the motion forward and stops, we expect it to be in park, not reverse. This is a major flaw in the vehicle. I love the new 8 speed transmission, but don't trust the shifting mechanism. My wife is very reluctant to drive it because of this issue. I've contacted Chrysler about the issue. They seem concerned and are wanting to look at the vehicle when repaired. However, I'm not certain, hearing about other issues with vehicles, whether they are just trying to blow smoke until I quite down. I did obtain a leg injury when attempting to stop the vehicle. Not serious, but surely could have been. Had there been a child, pet or other person behind the vehicle, it could have been disastrous. There needs to be a fix to this problem. I have a family member that works for state farm insurance. They've also had similar complaints. There's not detent in the shifting, it just goes forward and stops. All electronic, not mechanical as they used to be.

Vehicle was in a level parking lot with a boat and trailer attached. Vehicle was in park configuration with engine running. Vehicle was left unattended for about 1 minute and it rolled about 100 feet, through the parking lot and across a road and down a levee where it hit a tree on the left front side. The driver was not in the vehicle when it hit the tree. The California highway patrol arrived at the scene and there was no citation issued. There was no other property damage other than to the vehicle and the boat trailer. The insurance company paid for the damage to the vehicle less the deductible.

I was driving on the highway in rush hour traffic when the car suddenly accelerated and side swiped a school bus. The car went out of control and was unable to be stopped, crashing into a concrete media on the left side of the highway before spinning across three lanes of traffic and crashing into the concrete barrier on the right side of the highway and finally stopping. The car was totaled - the entire frame was twisted, all four tires were destroyed, the bumper was hanging off. There was severe damage to the entire car - not one corner or area of the car was not dented, dinged or scraped. None of the air bags deployed (despite the violent nature of the crash). I walked away from the accident but had a herniated disc in my back and an injury to the rotator cuff in my right arm and missed a significant amount of time from work while recovering.

Jeep rollaway complaint: my brand new 2014 Jeep cherokee rolled away from me when I put it into park. I got out of the car to get the mail and few seconds later, I hear a crash. The Jeep rolled off the driveway into a tree. Thank god no one was in the way and my daughter was not in the car. I got back into the car and found that it was in reverse, not park! the font bumper was dislodged and smashed. I had been having a lot of trouble getting the electron gear selector to choose the correct gear since the day I bought the car. 50% of the time I would discover that I was in reverse when I thought I was in park. There is very little clearance between the two gears, nothing definitive like there is on a slide track in most cars with a definitive clunk when you put it into park. The only way to be absolutely sure was to look down at the gear shift to see the light indicator. I've been driving all my 59 year old life and have never had an accident. I was so upset and frustrated with the gear shift that I took it back and ordered a 2013 Jeep with the old gear shift on a track system. I'd had it! if they don't change the gear system in the next Jeep, I will have to buy a different make. The problem, although may have been some kind of defect in the electronic gear shift, is, in my opinion, not a defect, so naturally Chrysler will not find any defects. I think it is poor design and a hazard. It is a human interface problem. Park should not be so close to reverse. The gear shift only moves about a 1/4 inch one way or the other. You can not depend on feel to tell which gear you are in, which you can when you have a car with a slide track gear shift. Also, another incident: I was making a left and had to break hard for a sec, my purse moved forward and easily pushed the gear into neutral when I needed to be in gear for oncoming traffic. Stupid design.

Double parked my vehicle in a busy urban retail commercial area in hoboken, NJ and left it running while I went into a store to pick something up quickly. When I returned the car was gone. It had backed itself up halfway down the block and turned into traffic, crossed 2 lanes of traffic and smashed into a car parked on the other side of the road. Caused minor damage to the rear quarterpanel. Could have run someone over, could have mowed down a bunch of kids, who knows!?! the electronic shifter in the Jeep should have been in park but was actually in neutral. Impossible to tell with no tactile feedback, all the gears feel the same to the touch.

Bottom line: battery was sitting in a pool of water 4 inches away from the neg/pos battery terminal. Potential electrical fire ? a newly acquired 2014 Jeep laredo with less than 1000 driven miles from the date of delivery. We were hearing a water sloshing sound that was profound upon starting from a dead stop and then coming to a stop sign. Once the vehicle was stopped fluid was heard sloshing around similar to a cooler of ice water. After doing an internet search there were similar problems found with this vehicle in the past. Since this was a brand new vehicle, I took it to the dealer as I wanted to know if this was safe to drive. The service dealer of course said he never heard of this and that I would have to make an appointment. "I will not leave until someone either drives this car or looks at it and say it is safe". The counter guy was annoyed at my request and he went and got his chief service manager. To my surprise the service manager said to me as he was walking from across the service bay that he knew exactly what the problem was. We walked to the vehicle and he opened the passenger door and moved the passenger seat all the way forward. Then he opened the rear passenger side door, took out the floor mats and opened the battery compartment that is located "inside" the vehicle under the passenger seat. There was water pooled around the battery and 4 inches from reaching the + and - terminals. The service manager went under the vehicle and removed the plastic plug the size of a quarter. Water gushed out of the drain plug for at least 5 min then it turned into a trickle. The service manager schedule the vehicle to be fixed by a company that deals with water leaks. My complaint is that this posed an potential disaster from an electrical short caused by water pooling. Now is there going to be a mold problem in the future?.
