After normal gas fueling, car is stationary, fuel meter registers more gas in tank than physically possible. I filled up the tank and meter shows over 400 miles of fuel available. Typically it should be around 330 on a full tank. Also, while driving my mpg meter fluctuates rapidly from 7 mpg to 60 mpg. I see on Jeep forums that this is a common problem with Jeeps. Very upsetting considering all of the recalls already for this model Jeep. Fuel gauge repair estimated at $1400 !! (dependable Jeep - reseda, CA. ).
Every time I fill up my gas tank my vehicle will stall out. This has been going on for months now. I took it to the dealership and they are telling me this was a known error and chryster has made modifications to the gas tank/vaper lock but I am responsible for the $1600 it will cost to fix it. If this is a known defect, then it should be covered under a recall.
Fuel delivery system (notably tank filler and related emissions equipment) poorly designed to fail just after California 50k mileage warranty. Dealer wants $800 to fix a problem the mfg. Designed. Alternator recall-with no related parts to repair-driving and waiting for the vehicle to erupt into a ball of fire is unacceptable. What components are being installed on 2018 models? why can't those parts be installed on my 2014? I am being prejudiced against, as I cannot legally (thanks to ab 217) trade the vehicle in, as no dealer can resell it with an open safety recall!! I need to get another car-but I can't!!!!.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the capless fuel tank leaked fuel from the nozzle and the check engine indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the seal needed to be replaced. The failure was not remedied. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While refueling the vehicle, the nozzle would intermittently shut off after two to three gallons had been filled into the fuel tank. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel filler neck was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000.
Sudden shutdown of eco-diesel with fuel still present in tank, dealer identified faulty fuel tank pump. No replacement part available, no estimated time frame for available replacement. Less than 3000 miles on car. Jeep tech in detroit knew of problem indicating that others have reported similar events. Jeep recommendation is keep fuel level above 1/2 tank with no permanent solution or fix available at this time.
