Subject: vehicle fire following abs recall repair – safety complaint I am filing a safety complaint regarding a vehicle fire that occurred shortly after a recall repair was performed. Vehicle: Jeep (grand cherokee/2019) mileage at time of incident: approximate: 58,350 approximately four weeks ago, my vehicle underwent a recall repair related to the abs system at westgate Jeep located in raleigh, nc 27617. Following that repair, I experienced brake issues due to air in the brake lines, which required a return visit to the same service provider for correction. On April 5, 2026, the vehicle caught fire while parked in my driveway. The fire originated in the front driver-side engine compartment area, where the abs and brake components are located. The fire caused extensive damage to the engine bay, wiring, and surrounding components, rendering the vehicle inoperable. Given the timing and location of the fire, I am concerned that the recall repair or subsequent brake system work was performed improperly leading to either a brake fluid leak or an electrical malfunction or defective parts that caused the fire. This incident presents a serious safety risk, as it could have resulted in injury or loss of life. I am requesting a full investigation into: - the quality and safety of the recall repair performed - whether improper installation, damaged components, or fluid leaks contributed to the fire - whether other vehicles repaired under this recall may be at similar risk the vehicle has not been altered or repaired since the fire and is available for inspection. Supporting documentation (repair invoices, photos, etc. ) can be provided upon request. I respectfully request that this matter be reviewed urgently to prevent potential harm to other drivers.

2 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/11/2025

Fca us has failed to make parts available to remedy NHTSA recall 24v-838 in over 12 months.

3 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/04/2025

I am reporting a serious safety failure related to the abs/esc recall on my 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Parts have not been available for over a year, and my vehicle has now experienced the dangerous conditions described in the recall. Before the failure, while stopped at a red light in drive with my foot firmly on the brake, the vehicle suddenly rolled backward on its own. I had to forcefully press the brake to stop it. This should never happen and indicates brake system failure. About 10 minutes later, while driving on the highway, the vehicle experienced a sudden safety system failure. Multiple warning lights came on (abs, esc, brake system, check engine), the accelerator pedal became unresponsive, a burning smell came from the vehicle, and I temporarily lost control. I could not pull over immediately due to traffic, which created a very dangerous situation. The vehicle eventually became undriveable and required towing. I am thankful my children were not in the car. This is an extreme safety hazard. Stellantis still has no parts available and has not provided a repair or transportation option. This forces owners to choose between parking their vehicle indefinitely or driving a known unsafe vehicle. I request NHTSA review the lack of parts and enforcement of this recall, as it is putting families at risk. Owner: [xxx] , [xxx] email: [xxx] [xxx] my contact information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

4 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/23/2025

Vehicle reverse camera will stay on while driving. Leak in gasket. Leak in right mount. Radiator issue undiagnosed. Car is available for inspection at anytime as it is currently inoperable and I do not have the thousands of dollars to fix what is wrong with it while it only has 53k miles and licensed repair shop (not dealership as I was told by tech there to get initial issues fixed outside for a lower cost - all repair and service records also available) has advised faulty parts as listed above. Forgive me, I am not a car person so I do not know what exact things, but can provide. Have been on the phone all morning with fca, manufacturing, and back and forth until this information was received. I have pulled a recall list by VIN and found that some issues with my Jeep are on there; however, apparently my specific VIN is not associated with the recalls listed (can provide report), I am responsible for repairs. Only warning lamp I have received was for a "cylinder 1 misfire" that was diagnosed at Jeep of fontana in CA, where I was told to take it elsewhere. Now, after having a tuneup last week, I started my Jeep on Sunday and it began smoking. Was told at local shop, mountain view tire in rialto/fontana, they cannot fix. Please assist!.

5 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2025

I am filing a complaint regarding a serious and widespread defect in the uconnect 8. 4 infotainment system installed in my 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited and many other fca/stellantis vehicles. The screen has developed a delamination issue that worsens over time. Symptoms include glue dripping from the edges of the screen, “ghost taps” where the system responds without being touched, and unresponsive or inaccurate touch inputs. This is not a cosmetic defect. The infotainment system controls multiple functions beyond entertainment, including navigation, bluetooth phone connectivity, climate control, backup camera, and access to vehicle settings. Malfunctions cause driver distraction and interfere with safe vehicle operation, which could easily lead to an accident. When I contacted Jeep/Chrysler customer care, I was informed this is a known issue. My research confirmed that fca/stellantis has issued an internal service bulletin acknowledging the defect, but they refuse to issue a formal recall. This appears to be a deliberate decision to avoid the significant cost of replacing defective units across multiple models, leaving many unsafe vehicles on the road. This problem is widespread and well-documented among owners. It is unacceptable that stellantis treats it only as a service bulletin issue when the defect directly affects safety. Drivers must be able to rely on the infotainment system to respond correctly, especially since it integrates with systems used while driving. A delaminated screen dripping glue and producing ghost inputs is a hazard, not a minor inconvenience. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this defect and require fca/stellantis to take responsibility through a formal recall and replacement program to protect the safety of drivers, passengers, and the public.

6 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/28/2025

The uconnect touchscreen had bubbling in upper left corner within the first year of being brand new. I didn't know at that time that it would lead to complete failure of the uconnect system which includes: the handsfree safety controls on steering wheel not functioning so no handsfree phone calls or messaging etc, black and unresponsive touchscreen, no navigation because screen and sound doesn't work, no function in usb ports connected to uconnect system, no audible alerts (or any sounds) from speakers for collision warning or radio etc just zero sounds, no back up camera because the screen doesn't work, no uconnectivity from mirror in case of collision. Oh and the mysterious globs of clear adhesive glue dripping below the screen more specifically dripping below the control knobs that are below the screen right into my center compartment where the usb ports are located! this is a known issue caused by a manufacturing defect with the glue used by Jeep to bond the layers of the screen. It should absolutely be a recall covered by Jeep! my warranty has expired so no luck for me unless uconnect covers it. Fingers. Crossed on that. I checked fuses all good, did a soft reset that brought back charging ability in usb ports and the screen turned a dark blue instead of black but wtill no function, and did a hard reset by disconnecting my battery cable for 1/2 hr. Nothing worked. I was told it would cost over $2000 not including labor if the uconnect system needs to be replaced. My Jeep only has 12500 miles on it. Its keep in a carport with a cover and very well maintanined. This is absolutley a safety issue! so dissapointed as this will potentially be the 2nd expensive issue with my Jeep coming out of the pocket with such low mileage. Still waiting on reimbursment from last recall 94b which still has no remedy available and therefore cant get approved for reimbursment. That was over $3k to fix! please take better care of your loyal customers Jeep!.

7 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2025

The uconnect system on the vehicle has a delamination issue on the screen. I took the vehicle to the authorized dealer and they said it was a known issue. I tried contacting the manufacturer and they offered a 60% cost assistance since the vehicle is out of warranty. I researched the issue on the internet and found multiple people have similar concerns with the uconnect system. Some reported that the screen stops to respond to touch which means a driver can struggle to turn on/off heated or cooled seats, heated steering as there are no physical switches to operate those features, to name a few and can cause distraction while driving. If the seat heat is on and one wants to turn it off once the seat is warm enough, they cannot. My vehicle has delamination on the three sides of the screen. It started on the one corner and gradually spread to the other edges. I can see that one day it will cover the entire screen rendering the system to be unusable.

8 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/13/2025

I took my vehicle on a road trip- it ran fine and I did not have any warnings or indications of a problem. When I stopped at my hotel room, the vehicle was fine. I went out to start it the next morning and I was met by a vehicle that would not attempt to start. It came up with a check engine light, e brake light, abs error and a couple of other lights/error messages. I had to have the vehicle towed to a local shop where they informed me that this was associated with recall 94b. This recall was posted over six months ago and there is still no fix available. My vehicle will not start or run, and is not safe to drive even if I could get it to start. I am being told that it is impossible to fix until the manufacturer releases a repair option. I had to pay not only to have my vehicle towed and inspected by the first shop, but also I had to pay for it to be towed all the way back home (because I was on vacation when this happened) and it is now at a second shop who has confirmed the diagnosis and that no repair is available. This is my primary source of transportation for myself and my children, and I am being told that six months ago this issue was acknowledged by the manufacturer, but they have not fixed it. I contacted the support line for the manufacturer and was transferred six times, and then I was ultimately told that a supervisor would call me back with a solution, but that hasn’t happened yet. I asked if I should have my vehicle towed again to get it to the dealership for repairs and if they could offer me a loaner vehicle and the representative said she couldn’t advise me on that and I had to wait to hear back from a supervisor. I need them to either make a fix available or provide me a loaner or replacement vehicle if they are unable to resolve the problem. I purchased this vehicle in good faith.

9 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/08/2025

I am experiencing a delamination issue with the uconnect screen in my 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee high altitude. I noticed this issue years ago when my car was still under warranty but thought it was a protective film on the uconnect screen. Now, the uconnect screen in my vehicle randomly turns off while driving which is a serious safety issue, especially when using the navigation system. This is a well-documented problem affecting many owners which typically manifests as bubbling or peeling of the screen's surface, leading to erratic touchscreen behavior such as phantom inputs, random changes in settings, or complete unresponsiveness. The root cause of the delamination appears to be the degradation of the "loca" adhesive between the screen's layers, often exacerbated by heat. This degradation can lead to the separation of the screen layers, resulting in the aforementioned symptoms. The problem affects various uconnect systems, notably the 8. 4" uconnect 4c uaq and 4c nav units. I have had this issue diagnosed and confirmed by huntington beach chysler Dodge Jeep ram in huntington beach, CA.

10 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2025

Chrome is peeling along perimeter of cup holder, and is razor sharp. While attempting to clean, sliced 2 fingers tips. This could be extremely dangerous to little children.

11 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/20/2025

A arm broke while I was driving causing me to hit a pole. Service stability control and abs light came on in dash right before I crashed. Garage where vehicle is located said it was the an arm that caused me to crash. Had taken it to 2 different dealerships both said they could find nothing wrong prior to accident. Jeep has 88,000 miles on it. This is unacceptable I'm just glad one of my children was not driving at this time. Also my air bags did not deploy!.

12 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/24/2025

I am writing to formally express my frustration and deep concern regarding recall 94b, which affects my 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee altitude and currently has no available remedy. This recall, as confirmed by fox Chrysler Jeep in southfield, mi, directly impacts critical safety features, including the anti-lock brake system (abs) and other key functions essential for the safe operation of my vehicle. Given the severity of this issue—especially during michigan’s harsh winter months—I find it unacceptable that no resolution is currently available. Fox Chrysler Jeep has verified that all warning lights on my dashboard are related to this recall, yet they have informed me there is nothing they can do at this time. As a loyal Jeep owner, I am extremely disappointed that stellantis has not yet provided a solution to an issue that directly compromises my safety and that of others on the road. Given the circumstances, I am requesting immediate assistance from stellantis to explore options for getting out of my current vehicle and into a new or used vehicle that is not subject to such serious, unresolved recalls. I cannot continue to drive a vehicle that poses such a significant safety risk, and I believe stellantis has a responsibility to provide a viable alternative for affected customers.

13 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/04/2025

My car is saying to service my electeonic stability control. It is making weird noises when I back up. It’s skidding when starting off from a complete stop. This is absolutely putting my safety at risk. And I am afraid to drive the vehicle to my job. With the esc not working driving this is putting me at risk. And if there is no fix “yet” what am I supposed to do? the vehcile was also shaking when I was going up a curved on ramp to get on the highway probably 35-40 mph?.

14 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/03/2025

While ideling at a stop light the vehicle rpms drop low and the engine shuts off. This has occurred multiple times, 4-5 times over 6 months. When this happens the dash displays "vehicle requires restart" this happens in traffic and has left me as a stalled vehicle and a hazard to others.

15 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2025

As a result of recall 94b and fca us llc’s failure to act/provide remedy for over 1 year. I am reporting an ongoing safety issue with my vehicle involving the electronic stability control (esc) system. Since January 2025, the vehicle has intermittently spun out, particularly in cold or wet conditions, creating a serious safety hazard. Fca acknowledged the defect but repeatedly stated no remedy was available. I attempted to bring the vehicle to dealerships, provided diagnostic scans and photos, sent multiple letters (including certified mail), and followed all escalation procedures. Despite this, fca has denied a buyback, provided no safe alternative or loaner vehicle, and failed to respond to communications. Representatives have been inconsistent, unprofessional, and dismissive — including laughing during calls while I reported the defect and impending winter hazards. The defect remains unresolved, the vehicle is unsafe to operate, and fca’s repeated denials and lack of communication prevent any path to a safe resolution. I am filing this complaint to document fca’s mishandling and to request that NHTSA require them to take appropriate action. The full detailed summary and supporting documentation are attached.

16 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2024

Recall 94b has been outstanding for a year now. I feel this is an unreasonable amount of time.

17 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/26/2024

If the manufacturer has failed or is unable to remedy this safety recall for my vehicle in a timely manner. We are approaching the one year mark and this is causing me great concern.

18 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/20/2024

Jeep Grand Cherokee’s are know for their faulty transmissions, I just bought a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee from the dealer and it has a faulty transmission. I’ve research and found out that other owners have same issues. This issues cause the car to jerk forward going from 2nd to 1st gear. This can be an issue because the jerk is strong and can cause an accident when stopping. Please help us out with this issue as it is a safety concern. Thank you!.

19 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/14/2024

2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee; manufacture date October 2018 vehicle engine off and vehicle in park in the driveway. Came out to the car to get something out of it and found that the passenger side active headrest safety feature had deployed. My car was not involved any type of collision - nothing has hit my car. It just popped out all on its own when no one was in the car and the vehicle wasn’t even turned on. I have seen several reports on this problem, and Jeep agreed to extend the warranty on this problem indefinitely but only on year models up to 2018. My vehicle was manufactured in 2018 but the dealer says my vehicle VIN is not included for this warranty. That’s ridiculous! the same exact problem has occurred to my headrest that they cover for everyone else but not my vehicle. Same problem, made in the same year as the other vehicles were made but mine not covered because the vehicle is labeled as a 2019 design. Also, the faulty part is also made of plastic!!.

20 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/26/2024

The uconnect screen is delaminating. This is a known issue for this year/make/model. Jeep has a history of repairing this under warranty. Despite my vehicle falling within their guidelines for a no-cost repair, they have denied my request. This is a safety issue because as the screen delaminates, it (from what I understand from other Grand Cherokee owners) becomes non-functional. This means the backup camera and critical vehicle controls and settings can be come unusable while the vehicle is in use. I have requested that Jeep repair this under warranty as has been done for many other Grand Cherokee owners (based on my own research).

21 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2024

The touchscreen in the car which has controls for the radio, navigation, phone and other features in delaminating and causing the screen to change buttons, features while driving. The screen gets stuck or shuts off while driving causing a safety issue while driving.

22 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/24/2024

I received a letter in the mail that my Jeep had a recall for some type of sensor that affects the brakes and brake lights. I’ve read that a malfunction in this sensor can cause my brake to not work and can cause me to crash into someone or something. The fact that this issue hasn’t been resolved yet is beyond me. This recall came out in 2022. It had been 2 years. What’s going happen when a mother is driving her family around in her Jeep that also has this recall on it, she switched the brake on but it doesn’t brake and she and her family crash into someone. Life’s are at risk here. I am planning to start a family within the next year and I will be getting rid of this car because I will not trust my family in it.

23 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/22/2024

The screen on my information center is delaminating. Took the vehicle to the dealership for extended warranty service and was told this was not covered under warranty. When this is a known issue not sure why the manufacture is not covering this claim.

24 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2024

Uconnect display has air bubbles forming on top left and top right corners. Both bubbles run down the side of the display.

25 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2024

Uconnect display has air bubbles forming on top left and top right corners. Both bubbles run down the side of the display. We own two of the same Grand Cherokees and both exhibit the same failure.

26 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/06/2024

My display screen is glitchy. Sometimes it does not show the back up camera. Other times even while driving down the road it shows my back up camera when I’m traveling forward.

27 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2024

The touch screen dash display has become delaminated and sometimes does not turn on when the vehicle is shifted in reverse. Thus, it's difficult to see if a child or pedestrian is behind the vehicle when placed in reverse on the dash screen. This poses a serious safety issue and I have read on several forms that this occurs just after 3-4 years of use and is a common problem.

28 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2024

The screen is delaminating. It will on its own changes settings, stations, etc. Dealership confirmed ongoing issue with these radio screens. It could disable sos features and vehicle information, such as; fluid temps, suspension angles, and other necessities needed for safety and proper operation. Warning lights will also show up in the dash due to safety items potentially being disabled due to screen changing things by itself.

29 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/12/2023

The radio screen is deplaning.

30 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/07/2023

Uconnect screen delaminated causing the screen and radio to go bad. I have no phone connectivity, no radio, no use of navigation or climate control.

31 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2023

In the cold weather, usually under 40degrees, sensors come on alerting me that stablisation is disabled, auto start/stop is disabled, check engine light comes on, parking brake illuminates and does not turn off while driving, cruise control does not work, radio information cluster intermittently works etc. It's seems to be all electrical. I have taken it to the dealership several times and they can't figure out what the issue is. At first they said the auxiliary battery was bad and I paid over $400 for a new battery and still have the same issues.

32 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2023

The abs module and esc system malfunctioned. A message stating “service electronic stability control” appeared on the dashboard. The component is still installed in the vehicle and is available for inspection upon request. The esc warning indicates that the system may be disabled, which could compromise the vehicle’s stability and braking performance—especially in emergency or poor weather conditions. I do not feel safe driving the vehicle, as the malfunction may affect the ability to stop or control the vehicle properly, increasing the risk of an accident. I contacted the dealership and an independent mechanic and they confirmed the issue is related to recall z48. However, they also stated that no repair or remedy is currently available. The “service electronic stability control” message appeared on the dashboard. This was the first noticeable symptom, and it started about 2-3 years ago. Also, my check engine light is on all the time. I cannot remote start. I few times, I’ve had issues with the brakes and my Jeep not starting.

33 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2023

The radio screen starting developing bubbles on each side. After speaking to several dealers by phone they are telling me this is very common with this yr vehicle that the screen is delaminating and Jeep will not cover this. For my concern how and who do I contact? beings this system controls the heated seats is this eventually at some point going to stop working? each time I turn on these seats I am concerned the heat will not shut off and if traveling a distance I do not want to get burnt. Could you please help/assist as I do have a friend that was burnt from a heated car seat. Thank you.

34 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/25/2023

The radio in the car, which controls the whole car, started dialing people out of the blue, over and over again. I finally had to pull over and disconnect my phone from the system. This could have called an accident as the repeated dialing caused me to take my eyes and concentration off of the road. No doubt I was a distracted driver at this time - due to what they call "system bubble". Jeep/stellantis knows of the problem but they refuse to correct this problem that causes drivers to become distracted. They need to fix the problem ASAP before someone gets killed on count of this. Further more, I now have to take my eyes from the road to my phone because I can't use the system to use the handsfree system. This is a violation of the state of alabama law. We can no longer have our phones in our hands, while driving a car.

35 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2023

While driving, my 2019 Jeep grand cherokee laredo began smelling like burnt plastic, then a red warning triangle came on in the speedometer saying, ‘stop safely vehicle shut off soon’. At the same time, the engine warning light, battery warning light, and skid warning lights came on. I pulled over and when the car was examined the red plastic housing around the terminal that can be used to jumpstart the battery had melted. The vehicle is being towed to the dealer for a repair.
