Went to turn left at barely 5mph and steering locked up with my front wheels pushed outside of wheel well (driver wheel, passenger is facing in), causing a collision. Steering wheel won’t turn at all now.
Travelling with my young daughter on the freeway at freeway speeds at 9pm (nighttime). The entire vehicle just shut down. Everything - completely dark. Steering went out. Brakes went out. I had to get the car to basically drift to a shoulder and slow down gradually in a spot where we would be safely out of the way of traffic. Again no brakes or steering and completely dead. Hazzard lights would not work. I had to get the car towed and get my daughter and all of our stuff out of the car on the freeway at night in the complete dark. Scary stuff. It's an expensive car and 2022 is the first model year of the grand wagoneer. I suspect based on my experience with this car that this model year will have these types of problems going forward. The car has had electrical issues from day 1 and its unsurprising this happened. What is surprising is just how dangerous the situation was when you were in it. It was a shocking experience.
The water pump started leaking and I believe that the coolant coming out of the water pump got the electric power steering terminals (which are right below the water pump) wet which caused the power steering to stop working and needs to be replaced.
The electronic steering quit working at 55 mph, I was very hard to steer afterwards, there wear other indicator lights besides the steering warning light, I will add a picture of them. I did already do a report but have pictures to show the problem. I kept the core to figure out what happened, there is water in the unit control area for the motor. The issue started at the same time the water pump was leaking, and I believe that caused the water and corrosion in the electronic area. I also have another invoice for the diagnosis from the hudson dealer for about 600 dollars but mislaid it, if I need it I can get a duplicate.
I went to start my car and pull out of a parking lot when the power steering would not turn on. I tried starting and stopping the engine multiple times. I eventually left the car and returned later for it where the power steering was back on and fully functioning. I had a friend drive me and the vehicle to my house to be towed to a Jeep dealership the following day. The power steering went out and back on two more times during that 10 min drive. Jeep service received the vehicle the next day and said they could not find anything wrong with the vehicle and reset the computer. I was told to come pick up my car as there was nothing more they could do.
While driving all warning lights were activated and power steering completely failed. The vehicle was in drive and fully charged.
I bought this Jeep new in 2023 and it started making this noise when it had 7000 miles on it. If was normal operational noise, why didn't it have it when it was new? many owners on Jeep forums (jeepgarage, wljeepforum, Jeepforum, wranglerforum) report: rattle starts light and worsens with heat soak. The company often states it is a “normal operational noise. ”some report replacement of the entire sway bar disconnect actuator assembly under warranty resolving the noise temporarily or permanently but there is no standardized procedure. After an hour drive, the loud banging noise is huge distraction while driving. I have driven for many years and have never heard anything such as this rattle trap, especially for upward of $80,000, while fearing that it may leave the road at anytime. Any suggestions would be helpful. The worst vehicle I have ever driven and I am 74 years old,.
The hybrid battery had the potential to catch fire and it was recalled for a software update, the 95b update. After this software update was completed, the vehicle would completely shut down, regardless of being parked or while driving. The dealership deemed the vehicle "unsafe to drive" and has provided a loaner until they can correct the problem. In addition to this, the front suspension has been worked on many times, approximately 5-6 times to remedy a clinking noise when turning at full turn. Currently, they have not been able to remedy this problem. The manufacturer has refused to do a buy back on the vehicle, yet also refuses to give the vehicle back due to, in their words; "it is unsafe to drive".
Purchased used 22 gc summit reserve v8 and within hours of leaving dealer I knew something was very wrong with the front suspension. Fast forward to used car dealership pointing fingers at Jeep for not fixing issues not disclosed to me before the sale and Jeep claiming shady dealer practices we now know it’s the rack and pinion bar and components. 7 grand out of pocket after a day of ownership is not happening. My VIN is one of few not showing up for the recall z18/NHTSA 22v-154. It’s a perfect description of the recall and my Jeep is the correct year make and model. The Jeep is at dealer currently and the price keeps changing which tells me someone isn’t telling the truth and they’re covering something else up. I just want this resolved as I paid mostly cash for this truck and haven’t gotten to drive it for more than a couple hours to the dealership.
The contact owns a 2022 Jeep grand wagoneer. The contact stated while driving at approximately 80 mph the vehicle lost forward momentum and stalled. The contact stated that the "shift to park and restart" warning had illuminated. The contact coasted off of the roadway and shifted the vehicle to park (p). The contact was able restart the vehicle and continued on to his destination. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired, however the failure reoccurred. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled but a different warning illuminated, the warning was "acc disabled - a steering wheel symbol and an exclamation point. The contact was able to restart the vehicle but as he was driving the vehicle started losing forward momentum. The contact stated that vehicle had apparently gone into a "limp mode," the contact applied the accelerator pedal and was unable to accelerate beyond 15 mph. The contact took the vehicle to a different dealer. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure, the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The contact researched online and saw the contact information for the NHTSA safety hot line. The failure mileage was approximately 33,000.
Power steering would not work. Luckily I was pulling into my own driveway when this happened. The car was brought to the nearest Jeep dealership which I was then told they could do nothing about and no problem was visible on the computer or when they drove the vehicle. The vehicle was returned to me with no resolution.
I've had issues with this Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe randomly shutting down on the highway at speeds between 65-75 mph. The service engine and transmission lights come on and the vehicle itself dies out and will power on but will not start for about 10-15 minutes afterwards. This is the fourth time I've had the issue and the dealership can not pin point a reason/fix for the car suddenly stopping. This last time the power steering went out as well these issues have almost caused several accidents . The dealership just clears the codes after saying the can not replicate the problems I'm having and gives the car back. I've gotten to the point now after almost being rear ended trying to clear the vehicle that I no longer feel safe driving it not only for myself but the other drivers around me a car with a little over 20,000 miles should not be having these issues consistently.
Our car is now having two issues: 1. The first issue is extremely scary, but we found a temporary work around so have been dealing with it for months as we needed are car. If the auto stop/start is not turned off (which has to happen ever time the car is started), the car essentially puts on an emergency break and shuts down the car at the first for second stop. This happened in the middle of a busy intersection the first time and happened numerous other times including while I was on the phone with the Jeep dealership. It is extremely dangerous as you can be stuck at a stop light in the middle of the road and the car has to be turned off and turned back on. We drive on [xxx] in michigan daily for work and it is a 55mph road with dozens of stop lights making this a huge safety hazard. I have seen numerous other people on a Jeep wagoneer facebook page with the same issue. 2. The second issue is more recent, but has made the car un-drivable. While driving suddenly the "service fuel system" alert comes on with the check engine light flashing and the car feels like it is going to stall out, then it will regulate and the alert will go away, then it will come back a minute later. We immediately drove our car to the dealership as it was not drivable that way and they have had it for 3 weeks unable to find a fix. We put premium 93 gas in our car and it has not been in any accidents. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
In January work related to recall 95b was performed on the Jeep. The next day the issues started with a warning light indicating the hybrid system needed service. The Jeep has been in repair for this issue 6 times and over 56 days with no resolution. It is currently in for repair. A buy back request was made but both fca and the arbitrators indicate it is not a safety concern. There are safety concerns related to the warning light as it appears to impact electrical communications in the vehicle. Repair notes indicate the communication issues. Also, power steering has stopped working and the engine has died while driving causing a rapid deceleration. Multiple users are reporting the same issues or additional impact related to the hybrid warning light that started after 95b work.
The front suspension rattles and clunks constantly as if there is loose linkage or ball joints going bad. It is happening at every speed and is worse when it is hot outside. I am concerned that something is loose and will result in a loss of control. The dealer has been unable to find the source of the loud clunking noise but says everything looks ok.
The contact owns a 2022 Jeep grand wagoneer. The contact stated while driving approximately 55 mph, the instrument cluster was flashing "systems disabled" and the steering was difficult to turn. The contact depressed the brake pedal to slow the vehicle however, the brake pedal depressed to the floorboard. The contact was able to stop the vehicle. The contact drove the vehicle back to the residence and the vehicle was later towed to the local dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the failure had occurred once. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 32,000.
Lost brakes and steering going 55 mph, and then many warning lights were on the screen saying that different systems were disabled. Was able to coast vehicle to a safe location. Had vehicle towed to dealership 4/29.
The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 24v132000 (suspension, steering) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The contact had not experienced a failure. The VIN was not available.
I called our dealership to schedule the repair for this recall; they indicated that parts have been back ordered and they are only getting one part per week to accomplish repairs. They have a waiting list established on which I am number 62, which at the current rate of receipt of parts, I would be waiting for about 15 months to get the recall repair completed. For a recall that could potentially cause a crash without warning, this seems like something that should be addressed more quickly than 15 months.

On 02/23/2024, on I-395 express lanes (southbound) at approximately 55mph, I drove over an uneven portion of the highway being maintained/bumpy (far left lane). My vehicle intermittently pulled to the left while I attempted to steer right. I believed the problem to be associated with my steering/wheel components. After contacting the farrish Jeep dealer, 9610 fairfax blvd, fairfax, va 22031, I was told a recall (10b) related to an upper control arm pinch bolt being likely why my steering might be affected. An appointment was scheduled for 03/06/2024. The issue happened intermittently but inconsistently up to the appointment date. During the 03/06/2024, the farrish dealer indicated the issue could not be duplicated. And I was required to pick up the Jeep. I subsequently called fca USA, llc (1 (800) 334-9200) indicating my concern driving the vehicle with intermittent issues that could result in a crash. I also requested to maintain the loaner car that was issued during my service with farrish Jeep; but no response/action was issued or received due to a required management call. It is March 10th, and I have not received the call. The vehicle is not safe to drive based on my recent experience and is available for inspection. And if there is any small chance that the current recall is affected by uneven terrain or bumps at high speeds; then I it can be catastrophic for my and my child’s health. Thus, I humbly request to return this vehicle with a full return toward another purchase that is safe for my family and I.
Brand new car. Driven 600 miles. After shopping at costco I get to the car and it is completely dead. Will not turn on and every single code possible popped on the screen. Luckily I wasn’t with my kids or out of town or this could’ve been a nightmare. How can this happen with a brand new car? makes me afraid of what may happen in the future.
My safety is at risk driving this vehicle. There is an open recall stating you may lose steering without prior warning. This has been going on for over 1 month and still there is no remedy to fix this issue. This is out of control and needs to be fixed now before somebody gets hurt! (I'm not currently driving this vehicle because the risk is so high yet no dealer or Chrysler themselves will help me. They both told me I should continue to drive the vehicle. ).
My car now has 2 open recalls associated with it (for a grand total of 5 overall) - and it only has 9,580 miles on it. The latest recall, 24v-132, does not have a remedy yet available. Jeep indicates the earliest they will be able to fix my car is April 8, 2024. I have told them numerous times I feel it is unsafe to drive. They are not giving me a loaner. They are not giving me a rental. I am stuck until "someone from the recall division calls" me back. Even though it's a rist of the wheels falling off, which can cause a wreck with no warning! recall 24v-11 was enacted on 2/15/24. My defrost system doesn't work well . . .
Electrical issues- been to the dealer 4 times with no resolution radio turns to max volume while trying to lower sound. Air/heat turns on and off by itself while driving. Vehicle slams on brakes due to faulty crash sensor. Back lift gate repaired due to faulty sensor. This week power steering service light came on. 27,510 miles 1 owner.
The electrical system of this vehicle is causing several issues putting the safety of me, my passengers and drivers around me at risk. Starting at 6,300 miles the vehicle had a temporary loss of power steering. After parking for a day the power steering returned, leading me to believe it was caused by an electrical/software code issue. There was a safety recall for the battery pack starting on fire while parked, driving or charging. No fix was available for quite a while and I could not charge the car or park in the garage. Shortly after having the computer updated to stop it from spontaneously catching fire I have been getting a warning light saying to maintenance the hybrid system, and is accompanied with a momentary loss of propulsion. This happens without warning every 150 miles or so. The dealership said it had a ‘digital crash’ code and was not able to reproduce, but I have video evidence of the warning lamp coming on and then clearing itself. There is now a safety recall issued for this exact problem with no fix available at this time. There are no warning lamps in advance of these issues occurring, only concurrent to the issue happening. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle. Past experience tells me I could lose propulsion and/or steering at any time. I need to drive to work, it is unrealistic to not drive my vehicle until a resolution is found for the current round of safety recalls. I am afraid this vehicle is going to kill someone.
See attached document for complaint.
The vehicle suffered complete loss of power steering function. The wheel could not be turned and the vehicle would not respond. Cycled the vehicle on and off multiple times with no restoration of power steering. Vehicle was towed to dealership. Vehicle spent 18 days in service with no fix other than to clear code u0131 "loss of comm with power steering" and to do a eps flash. Vehicle power steering issue may come again and no fix offered by Jeep. Phone call to Jeep fielded no help and offered no assistance.
Most dashboard electronics failed and are available for inspection steering wheel red light symbol came on and I lost power steering ! red triangle safety symbol turned on hybrid electric vehicle failure abs brake symbol, loss of brakes hybrid service light engine service symbol red battery light symbol, battery power unavailable while driving the speed limit (25mph) in my village with pedestrians crossing the street and traffic around me, the Jeep 4xe experienced a cascading electronic failure with the power steering; brakes; engine power and most electronic functions with the dashboard lighting up every symbol on the screen. I lost complete control in order to regain control of the moving vehicle, I had to force the steering wheel to turn into a handicap space in front of me while attempting to brake at the same time. I was able to avoid the pedestrians and cars around me as well as the parked car next to me, without causing any damage to myself or those in the vicinity. If I was traveling on the freeway, loading onto my local ferry or driving on a major highway or freeway onramp, my life and the life of those around me would have been in serious jeopardy because I lost complete control of the Jeep. Jeep fca arranged to tow the car to the Jeep dealer who inspected the vehicle, downloaded the computer data, examined the report, confirmed the multiple problems and repaired the vehicle with a detailed description of the problems they encountered. Prior to the complete failure of the 4xe, there were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms or any indication of any kind of the impending crisis and near disaster. So far, there have been a total of four recalls. Two have been addressed, with the third to be serviced tomorrow and the fourth without parts avaible to keep the wheels from falling off. I have receipts but could not upload them. I'm happy to mail them to you thank you for your assistance.
Vehicle completely shut off while driving down highway. Completely lost steering response and breaking response. There was absolutely no way to control the vehicle. My daughter and I both thought we were going to crash and die. We live in alaska and it's winter time so the road conditions aren't the best. It took about 10 to 15 seconds and everything came back on and started working again. I drove my vehicle straight to the dealership I bought it from and have demanded a buyback process. I haven't had it a year and even the hybrid heating coolant system has had to be replaced twice.
About two weeks ago, I was driving my Grand Cherokee on highway with my wife and our two-year-old. The power steering light was on and the service light was on. There's also a message saying "power steering lost" popping up at the control panel. The steering was extremely heavy that I lost control of it and could not turn left or right. I pushed brake and turned on emergency light until the vehicle slowed down and eventually stopped on the road shoulder. It was very dangerous. At that point I did not even know there was a recall about power steering on this model - although later I found out my vehicle was not included in that recall it. I took my vehicle to local dealership (opelika Ford Chrysler Jeep). I also contacted Jeep service line. The staff from Jeep created a case for me (case #: 87833783) but was not helpful as he refused to give local dealership authorization to repair it - even though the service light was on when I brought it in. The dealership also had some communication with Jeep service. And they were denied authorization to repair it with recall exception or under warranty as they could not duplicate the issue. I was outraged by the lack of irresponsibility from Jeep as they knew I had a serious incident while they denied authorization to repair it accordingly only because my vehicle was not included in the recall list. I also requested to speak to the supervisor of the Jeep service staff but was told my case was officially closed. Just unbelievable!! I wonder who would take the liability here if we got the vehicle back from dealership without a repair and we crashed with a two-year-old on board.
2022 Jeep grand wagoneer series ii. Thia whole vehicle is a death trap!! since owning this vehicle it's been one issue after another with one dealership visit "repair" after another. With each repair the vehicle gets worse and the problems aren't fixed. My vehicle has been in & our of service over 20 times in the passed year. We even had it in for a 10 hour repair, where they said they fixed "all the technology". But that still doesn't work. We had it upgraded, but that doesn't to make anything better. . . It's slower than molasses & freezes - but that is the least of my issues. . . It seems like the dealership is doing nothing to help me & just putting band-aids on these issues, so I've finally decided to open my mouth. Not only are "minor issues" such as the radio not getting fixed, there are issues like my check engine light constantly coming on, my power steering going while driving, heating/cooling seats turning on and off whenever they feel like through out the drive & the adaptive cruise control frequently decides not to work. This vehicle is going to kill me and my family because everyone is downplaying how serious everything is, mind you the power steering went out while I was drving my soon to football. This whole vehicle should be recalled. I thought I was going to love this car, but it has been nothing but a nightmare! my Jeep is back in service for the power steering issue. Who knows how long it will be there. Or they may give it back and say "hey, it's good. " like they've been doing. Buyer beware. If you're thinking a grand wagoneer. . Think again!!.
Power steering would not work said to service blind spot unavailable and service electronic stability control.
We had two tires put on/rotation at the dealership and the two recalls repaired via a software update on or around the end of August. Once I left, felt the steering was hyper sensitive thought it was the tires. I had two incidents upon acceleration the truck aggressively yanking me into the opposing lane without driver input. Secondly, my wife had it happen to her on a very busy feeder road, the truck not only aggressively pulled her into the adjacent lane but also accelerated. I was told the software update corrupted the electronic steering input and the electronic steering gear resulting in the car 'getting a mind of its own'. I followed up with stellantis about a buy back or swap and was denied. I do not feel safe in the vehicle at all. It literally feels like a passenger is yanking the wheel out of your hands. Very dangerous. My truck is still in repair awaiting parts. Stellantis tells me that after the dealership service department issues a report, they may reconsider. I find it deeply troubling.
Power steering and other warning lights, including blind spot monitoring and lane assist, came on in a Grand Cherokee. I was unable to move the vehicle - the power steering was locked. Fortunately, it wasn’t on the road, but the driver was stranded until able to get the vehicle started eventually. The issue with the power steering is concerning, especially while driving. The engine light has remained on since.
A few moments after I started my car and started to move the steering wheel became stiff and very hard to steer. I received warning messages on the dashboard telling me that the power steering was unavailable. There were also other warnings regarding blind spot and lane control systems.
After starting the vehicle, I placed it in reverse and warning light came on - steering unavailable, lane change and collision warning unavailable. I was not able to steer the vehicle. Shut engine off several times and had the same problem. Later in the day, I started the vehicle with no problems. Called the dealer and they said that there was nothing they could do until it happens to them.
After starting 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe, multiple warnings displayed on dash including: service power steering, service electronic stability control, blind spot alert unavailable service required, and rear braking assist unavailable. The ignition was fully turned on and after shifting into reverse, there was no power steering which required extra effort to turn the steering wheel. The power steering was out for approximately 20 minutes. After restarting the car 20 minutes later, the power steering and blind spot alert was back. A check engine light persisted. After taking to auto zone to read check engine light, there was no readable code. The warnings have since went away. The vehicle had 2,497 miles on it at the time of this occurrence which was on June 9, 2023 at 10:18 am.
Dealer identified my concern with the noise the car is making as apart of the recall in the steering and no parts available to fix per dealer.
Power steering went out. Wheel locks and does not turn. Extremely unsafe and over 90,000 Jeep Grand Cherokees have recalls.
Upon starting the vehicle, multiple dashboard lights came on alerting total loss of power steering system (eps). This also triggered lights related to forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and lane keeping assistance. Vehicle was nearly impossible to steer out of driveway.
Car started displaying all mill lights in the message center, including “lane assist disabled,” “stability control arm needs servicing,” “traction control unavailable,” and others. After about 3-5 seconds of rapid fire messages being displayed, the car made a “shutting down noise” and then died on the side of the road. Had it towed to a dealership.
The first occurrence was upon starting the vehicle in a parking lot. The death cluster lit up with power steering unavailable, airbags unavailable, autobrake disengaged, and the the battery warning. The dealership towed the vehicle and replaced the batteries. In April of ‘22 while driving the vehicle the power steering became unavailable, forcing a difficult left turn off a major roadway. The same warning lights came on and the vehicle was not drivable. The vehicle was towed and a new power steering rack and steering gear were installed. Third occurrence was in the driveway recently when again upon starting the same warning lights were on and there was no power steering available. The vehicle is at the dealership now being inspected.
Lost power steering.
Upon startup power steering was disabled and the console message "power steering available service required". Blind spot detection and lane departure also showed as in-op. Wheel was very hard to turn. After traveling a few hundred feet I determined that the car was not safe to drive. After two vehicle restarts the problem cleared. If this happened at speed, in traffic, a serious accident is likely. Dealership is unable to look at problem for weeks. This is a serious safety issue which requires immediate attention from NHTSA!.
We filled the car with gas and tried leaving the pump. Turned the car on and all the lights on the screen started blinking and said service steering. The steering wheel would not turn either way. I turned the car off and back on and it did the same thing. After a third attempt the car drove again but the check engine light remains on. This is very scary as if it happened while driving would cause a wreck.
I drove the car in the morning with no issues for 45 mins. Later that day I started the car and three warning messages appeared-- service power steering, active lane management unavailable service required, & rear braking assist unavailable. There were no previous warnings or messages. The car was not safe to drive because I could not turn the wheel easily at all. When I called the dealership they told me I would have to have it towed in, they had no loaner car for me and that they may be able to look at it on Feb 27th! this happened on February 14th. Completely unacceptable.
The auto/power steering light came on upon starting engine. Driver could not move power steering and was left stranded. Nothing unusual promoted the event. Driver waited several hours and restarted with no issue. Concerns over what would happen if power steering failed while car in drive.
Power steering unavailable service required messages pops up steering becomes very tough to turn.
2nd time in last 2 months loss of power steering and all warning lights came on dash while driving. Very difficult to steer and would have not been able to make emergency maneuver. Vehicle was in shop for 30 days for same issue and power steering component was replaced but problem occurred again. If this had occurred when making a turn I would of been unable to control vehicle.
Power steering failed while vehicle was operating at highway speeds. After several ignition restarts power steering was restored. Several auxiliary safety systems failed at the same time.
Started the vehicle and had no power steering. Turned off and restarted several times to see if it was just a computer glitch. It couldn't be steered at all. If this had happened while driving there most certainly would have been an accident.
Power steering failed while driving. Blind spot detection failed. Third electrical issue since purchased in February 2022. First issue car would not start due to key fob transmitter issue. Second issue. Car would not start due to electronic fuel injection issue.
The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle the message "power steering unavailable, service required" had suddenly displayed and the power steering malfunctioned causing the steering wheel to become difficult to turn in either direction. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who replaced the steering rack and pinion. After retrieving the vehicle the contact was driving approximately 25 mph when the same steering malfunction had occurred causing the driver to loose control of the vehicle and crash into a tree. During the incident the braking system had also malfunctioned and the brake pedal was hard to press and the vehicle did not stop before crashing into a tree. The driver sustained a headache and back and should pains. The front seat passenger sustained back and neck pains. The cause of the failures were not yet determined. No police report was taken. The vehicle was towed away. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 2700.
I was driving down the road doing about 35 mph and suddenly I lost power steering and car jerked to the right. Power steering light, forward collision control, lane assistance, traction control and blind spot warning lights all came on, and a message appeared on my dashboard to have them all serviced. I took my Jeep to the dealership I purchased it at in April and they are inspecting the cause of the problem. This is the second time my lane assistance and forward collision have had issues, and the dealership was unable to find the cause the first time. This is first time for power steering, blindspot and traction control.
From around 100 miles the active lane management started to fail. After few visits to dealer and attempts to calibrate front cam, problem persists, so Chrysler didn’t know how to fix it. After a month waiting for a “tool” to fix it, power steering disconnect. Car back to dealer to avoid a safety accident. After a month I was advised that both failures were cause by a damage rack and pinion that needs to be replaced and test to see if that’s the reason for the failure as explained by the service advisor from autocentro Chrysler at caguas puerto rico. Iam still waiting.
We purchased this grand wagoneer on mon June 27th and left for our family vacation we had planned in oklahoma. We live in castle rock, CO. The next day on Tuesday as we were driving on the I-35 the transmission would drop out of gear and the rpm's would rev up. This would be while doing nothing but driving normally . Then it happened about 5 times over the course of 1. 5 hours. We stopped for gas in and upon leaving to re enter the interstate the vehicle would kick when the gas was pressed. My definition of kicking is that the front end would kick right and the rear end would kick left. This was with any amount of torque from acceleration. In trying to figure out what is going on I called the closest Jeep dealership fowler to see if we can stop in and have them re program the transmission assuming that or the drivetrain might have been the issue. But then as I was driving it was making the vehicle kick more and it was getting scary as the vehicle could have flipped if I wasn't being as careful as I was. We were going to try to coast our way slowly to the dealership to avoid being stranded and try not to accelerate much but within a few minutes a large noise like we were carrying a train under out car started and it was very obvious something was wrong as the car was pulling and making lots of noises. I pulled over and looked under the car. Everything looked fine other than an enormous amount of grease on the frame by the rear right wheel/inside. There were zero warning lights, errors or messages of any kind on the dash throughout all of these issues. The diagnosis is that the cv boot ruptured and the axle separated from the frame also destroying the differential. In turn, the only conclusion is that it was not assembled correctly at the factory. The parts are at fowler Jeep right now in ok. Jeep is repairing it but not buying it back. This vehicle is unsafe and noone in their right mind would want to drive this car again with the unknown.
Upon starting the vehicle a steering wheel icon popped up on the dashboard warning “power steering unavailable, service required. ” this was the first time I had seen this message in the 3 weeks since taking the vehicle home from the dealer. I then turned the ignition on and off a few times, but the warning persisted. When trying to maneuver the vehicle the steering was very hard, proving this was not just a false alarm. Not being able to properly steer the vehicle was an obvious risk to myself and family, especially if it was to suddenly happen while driving. Because of this I promptly called the dealership tow service to bring it into the service department. It is now 6 days later and the dealer has not had a chance to look at it yet, or confirm anything about the issue with me. From my own research I have seen numerous complaints of the same issue starting from the 2021 Grand Cherokee l and with the new platform 2022 Grand Cherokee 2 row and l models. Although this seems to be a widely known issue no recalls have been made.
My vehicle has had continuous electrical issues, for instance today, I could not turn off the radio, some days the left speakers do not work. The carplay and other features are intermittant. Secondly the power steering just randomly stopped working, the dealer states its the lojack, removed the lojack and now I have paid for a feature, that I no longer have, and just waiting for the next time the steering goes out, because there is no proof this is the problem. I returned my 2021 Grand Cherokee l and was able to retrieve the difference, and pay the difference for the 2022, assuming they had resolved the electrical problems, before producing another year. We are, or should I say we were Jeep people. My husband has a 2001 Jeep wrangler. I have had a Jeep cherokee, multiple Grand Cherokees and now two Grand Cherokee l. . . . I love the vehicle but I am no feeling very confident in the safety of this vehicle.
Had vehicle through multiple warning lights, crash protection inop, lane assist inop, abs inop, power steering inop, turn signal didnt work. This happend twice. The first time taken to shop and said it was fixed but had it less than 50 miles and same thing happened. It was going down the highway at 70mph and steering went out with no turn signals. Turned vehicle into dealership looking into vehicle buy back.
With 173 miles on the vehicle, I went to start the vehicle and the power steering, electronic stability control, blind spot monitoring, and lane assist lights all went on. The power steering did not work and I was unable to back out of my parking space. I repeatedly turned the car on and off and the lights persisted for at least an hour. After an hour, all lights went off and I was able to drive the vehicle. This could have been extremely unsafe if this had occurred while the vehicle was in motion. This also was problematic as I was stranded in a parking lot late at night. I immediately took it into the dealer and they cannot reproduce the problem and I am driving a loaner as I do not feel safe in the brand new vehicle. No warning lights came on prior to this problem appearing.
My steering wheel locking mechanism becomes undone while driving I have reached out to the dealer numerous times with no resolve.
Power steering unavailable 1 week after purchase of vehicle at 380 miles. Safety hazard in driving to any location. After research, apparently this is a widespread issue with LS steering and are somehow still being sold. This is a huge safety issue and should have been address when initial complaints were brought to light immediately. I am unsure how this model is still being sold and would like to be properly be reimbursed and return of this vehicle due to the misinformation and inaccuracy in marketing and sales of this vehicle.
The vehicle locked into 4wd low while driving and would not come out. I found this dangerous as my family was on board and put us at risk.
