1 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/31/2026

The Jeep will randomly lose cabin heat and blow cold air. It seems to happen mostly when the battery is drained. Took it to dealer but they tried to say it was normal which we stated it can’t be normal to not be able to defrost your windshield in the winter. I called mopar and they opened a case which then the dealer said they had luck changing a coolant valve that tends to stick. Not sure if that will fix issue or have seen people have luck with the ech. It happened at 36000 miles.

2 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/30/2026

On 01/30/26, I delivered my vehicle to an authorized Jeep dealership for the third time in connection with safety recall 68c involving the hybrid battery system. The recall addresses a battery defect that carries risk of fire. This is the third occasion on which I have had to leave my vehicle with the dealership because the recall repair has not been successfully completed. During the most recent service appointment, the recall repair procedure failed. I was informed that the hybrid battery would require full replacement and that the vehicle could not be returned to me. The vehicle has remained at the dealership and out of service since that date. As of 02/16/26, I have not been provided with a confirmed estimated time of arrival for the replacement battery. The vehicle remains unusable pending completion of the recall repair. No loaner vehicle was provided when the vehicle was rendered inoperable due to the failed recall repair. I was therefore required to obtain a rental vehicle at my own expense in order to maintain transportation for work and daily obligations. On January 30, I received written authorization from Jeep customer care approving rental reimbursement at $60 per day and explicitly listing specific companies as acceptable providers. Based on that written authorization, I secured a rental vehicle within the approved rate. After incurring rental expenses, I was informed reimbursement would be limited to $25 per day due to the rental company I chose being categorized as a third-party provider, despite being specifically listed in the written approval. It is not feasible to obtain a comparable rental vehicle in my area at $25 per day. The reimbursement discrepancy remains unresolved. The vehicle remains out of service. I am continuing to incur rental expenses and will be responsible for paying the difference out of pocket despite having relied on written authorization.

3 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/21/2026

Turned on the car to the find the check engine light was on. Drive 5 minutes to my son’s school to pick him up. Turned the car off, then back on to see if maybe the check engine light would go off. Instead the check engine light, battery light and service hybrid charging system errors appeared on the dash. The car would not turn off and I was unable to put it in gear at all. It left me stranded. I called a tow truck and about 10 min before they were set to arrive I tried turning it off and on again and it started like normal (check engine light still on) drove 5 min home and it did it again in my driveway. Happened again when my husband started it to take a look. This happened to us one other time about 3 months after we bought the car. We’ve only had it 9 months. Both recalls have been completed. This is unacceptable.

4 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/16/2025

Vehicle hybrid system shuts down vehicle at random times. “service hybrid system” warning comes on, dealership will not fix or acknowledge the issue. The battery is at fire risk if I charge the vehicle. Car has shut down and died multiple times, and does not respond for up to 30 minutes. Car has shut down while driving, putting itself into limp mode, citing the hybrid system. There has been 10 recalls on this vehicle, with new ones coming multiple times a year. Car losing ability to drive, or catching fire due to hybrid system, puts the driver and other drivers on the road in danger of collision or even death. All recalls have been remedied when a solution was available, but vehicle still does not perform up to safety standards.

5 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/14/2025

My vehicle is subject to active recall 68c involving high-voltage battery fire risk in Jeep 4xe vehicles. Manufacturer has confirmed recall applies to this vehicle, but no remedy is currently available. I have been instructed to limit charging and parking due to risk of thermal event/fire. This creates an ongoing safety risk to myself, family, my home, nearby properties and others. My vehicle remains in use without a permanent fix.

6 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2025

I am submitting this complaint to report what I believe to be a manufacturing or design defect involving the sunroof of my Jeep Grand Cherokee. On or around December 1, 2025, I discovered a severe water leak originating from the sunroof area during normal rainfall. Water entered the vehicle interior without warning and caused substantial damage to the headliner, interior trim, and other interior components. The amount of water intrusion was significant and far beyond what would be expected from normal wear. The vehicle has only around 45,000 miles and is regularly maintained. The leak occurred without any visible damage to the sunroof glass and without prior indication of a problem. The sunroof was fully closed at the time. This suggests a defect related to the sunroof sealing system, drainage system, or overall design rather than misuse or external damage. This defect presents a serious safety concern. Water intrusion inside the vehicle creates the risk electrical system damage or failure, mold and health hazards, impaired visibility due to water dripping near the windshield, distraction to the driver while operating the vehicle. In heavy rain conditions, this defect could reasonably occur while driving, creating a dangerous situation for the driver and passengers. As a result of this defect, my vehicle sustained significant interior damage, requiring repairs. I believe this issue reflects a broader defect in the sunroof design or drainage system rather than an isolated incident. I am concerned that other Jeep Grand Cherokee owners may be experiencing similar failures. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this issue for potential safety-related defects involving sunroof leakage in Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles. The severity of the water intrusion and resulting damage indicates a defect that could pose a risk to vehicle safety and occupant well-being.

7 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/24/2025

I am filing a safety complaint regarding my 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe summit reserve which is affected by recalls 78c and 68c. These recalls have no remedy, no timeline, and no clear information from stellantis. I no longer feel safe driving my daily driver, and the lack of progress has created a serious safety and reliability issue. Stellantis has instructed owners not to recharge the vehicle and to park away from buildings or other vehicles. This implies a potential fire risk that many owners cannot avoid, especially those who live in shared parking areas, garages, apartments, or townhomes. This should be treated as a major safety hazard. Stellantis has already attempted software updates and even high voltage battery replacements, but these efforts have not resolved the problem. The fact that previous fixes failed suggests a hardware defect involving the battery system or related components. Stellantis has not provided accurate or transparent information, and owners have no path forward. Because stellantis advises against charging, the hybrid system cannot be used at all. This eliminates the purpose of the vehicle and increases operating costs. I have spent many hours at dealerships with no solution. Stellantis customer care has stated that they will not offer support or compensation and directed me to a third party arbitrator. I respectfully request that NHTSA increase oversight of recalls 78c and 68c, investigate whether stellantis has properly identified the defect, and determine whether the company is meeting federal recall obligations. I also ask NHTSA to consider whether this situation warrants interim owner compensation or potential buy back evaluation due to ongoing safety risks, failed repairs, and the complete loss of hybrid functionality.

8 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/09/2025

I went to start my car and pull out of a parking lot when the power steering would not turn on. I tried starting and stopping the engine multiple times. I eventually left the car and returned later for it where the power steering was back on and fully functioning. I had a friend drive me and the vehicle to my house to be towed to a Jeep dealership the following day. The power steering went out and back on two more times during that 10 min drive. Jeep service received the vehicle the next day and said they could not find anything wrong with the vehicle and reset the computer. I was told to come pick up my car as there was nothing more they could do.

9 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/11/2025

On September 17th I was driving approximately 65-70mph on the freeway when the dashboard flashed the "service hybrid electric vehicle system" warning and icon. My vehicle lost forward momentum and I slowed at a very rapid pace. I pressed on the gas and the vehicle switched over to the gas system, regained power and I was able to drive without further incident that day. I feel like I could have crashed on the highway and gotten injured, or injured someone else! on October 11th I was driving in a restaurant parking lot, approximately 5 miles per hour and starting to idle when the vehicle dashboard flashed the "service hybrid electric vehicle system" warning and icon. This time ,the vehicle shifted itself to park suddenly and I received an alert to press the brake to turn the vehicle off. After several attempts, I was able to turn the car off and back on again. I have an appointment on October 17 for the issue to be looked at by the dealership. This is a 4xe with only 40k miles on it.

10 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/29/2025

Exhaust small in cabin. Exhaust manifolds leaking pulling exhaust into the cabin through the climate system. When the recirculation is turned on, then the smell is not present. When the recirculation is off then the exhaust smell is strong inside the cabin. The exhaust in the cabin is causing causing respiratory problems, fatigue, eye irritation and I am concerned of passing out when driving. I frequently have to turn on the recirculation button to keep the exhaust out of the cabin but in the winter time and in high humidity situations the window fog causing an additional safety issue. I am also forced to open the windows during this time causing excessive noise and temperature control issue. I called dealer months ago and they said not covered but now I learned should have been covered but now past the 60k mile limit.

11 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/16/2025

The entire Jeep failed. Every light, warning, service, etc came up when cranking, and then it went dead. Now, it will not crank at all. Additionally, the trunk will not open and no power pops up on dashboard or display. This is put my family at risk due to the vehicle being parked next to my home with a possible shortage. No one has confirmed or checked, due to it being a Saturday. No warning was given prior.

12 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2025

Car completely shut off while saying the electrical hybrid system needed to be serviced. Car turned back on and light was off. Check engine light going on and off as well. When going lower speeds the cars rpms rev all the way up, almost to the red, and while your pressing the gas doesn’t move but then jerks and goes forward. Your head slams into the seat and it’s extremely unsafe especially if you are in stop and go traffic. The car has been spitting and sputtering. Brought it to the dealership I just purchased it from, I’ve only made one payment. They stated that Chrysler is aware of the problem but that there is no solution as of right now. Extremely unsafe to drive and do not feel safe with my daughter in the car with the car jerking forward and being delayed with the gas and rpms increasing.

13 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/17/2025

Check engine light came on. Took my Jeep in and was told it was a software issue and not safe to drive. Chrysler will not let the service department release me my car until it is updated and fixed, which has no time line currently.

14 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/15/2025

Vehicle had complete system shut down while driving. Multiple warning lights came on and vehicle went completely dead. I could have been severely injured or killed if I had been on a highway or if other cars had been behind me. Jeep stated that it was an airbag sensor. Upon picking up from dealership (may 30) warning light came on stating "service vehicle electric hybrid system". Jeep states this is a software issue with no known fix and that engineering has been notified of problem. Since that time the air conditioning stopped working and warning light continues to come on. Vehicle has been left at dealership as not confident in safety of vehicle.

15 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/12/2025

My Jeep Grand Cherokee 2022 4xe lost power while I was going 65 miles per hour on the freeway. I had great difficulty getting to the side of the freeway nearly being struck by other drivers. I had no power steering and no way to put my hazard lights on when the car lost power. The Jeep is still not drivable at this time and is at the dealership.

16 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/08/2025

My car was showing a "service hybrid system" warning light in the months of April and may 2025 intermittantly along with a slight loss of power. I took it to the dealership and was told its a software issue but it's fine. Stellantis is aware of this issue but there is no fix. I brought it back a week later with the same concerns and reading the document the dealership gave me - the 95b recall fix apparently crashed communication modules with my orc. I expressed safety concerns. The dealership once again cleared codes and told me it was safe to drive. One week later on may 8, 2025, I was driving home from work. Without warning, the car locked up and went limp in the middle of the road. I went from 35mph to 0mph without seconds. I luckily was not rear ended. The dealership opened up another case with star. I have since gotten rid of the car due to continuous recalls and issues. I did not feel safe in this car and I feared for myself as well as others on the road. I am only taking the time to report this because there is no fix, my dealership repeadily gave the car back to me (in the notes, it was to be returned to me on 5/12 with no fix), and others are having the same issue.

17 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2025

Earlier this spring, when we started our 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee, the language had changed itself to italian, the units were metric, the ‘forward collision’ off icon was stuck on the dashboard. Also the paddle shifters did not work. In may, 2025, we paid $204. 41 to gary mathews motors in clarksville, TN to ‘diagnose’ and ‘fix’ the issue. Fast forward to this month, and the issue happened again! they didn’t ‘fix’ anything. See forum where hundreds of other owners are experiencing the same exact issues: [xxx] also see star bulletin regarding this issue: [xxx] from what I can see in the forums, there is no permanent fix for this issue. Despite this, Jeep/stellantis keeps charging customers to ‘diagnose’ and ‘fix’ the issue which is a scam/fraud since they know there is no permanent fix. I have reached out to Jeep, and been promised follow-up from one of their specialists that never comes. I have all transcripts and promised timelines to expect follow up that never happen. I will attach photos where they admit they haven’t met the timeline for follow up that was communicated, and as of now, despite additional promises of communication/follow up I still have not heard from them. Having a forward collision system that does not function properly puts myself and others at risk. Also having a dash in units/language you do not understand is also a safety issue. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

18 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2025

Power steering would not work. Luckily I was pulling into my own driveway when this happened. The car was brought to the nearest Jeep dealership which I was then told they could do nothing about and no problem was visible on the computer or when they drove the vehicle. The vehicle was returned to me with no resolution.

19 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/10/2025

- I received a "service hybrid system" light while driving (it only appeared for a split second and went away) and I took it to the dealership for troubleshooting. The dealership found a stored code of b273c-00. They contacted their Jeep engineers who have not been forthcoming as to what the issue is, but said the vehicle is not safe to drive, so I am not allowed to have the vehicle back (the same dealership has a 2nd Grand Cherokee 4xe with the same issue). Both vehicles are currently at the dealership and should be available for inspection. From my online research it seems to be tied to the vehicle's crash sensor and high voltage cable harness. There are also numerous other owners in online forums discussing the same issue with their Jeeps (grand cherokees and wranglers). -as Jeep engineers are not allowing myself or others to drive their vehicle with this code, they obviously consider it a safety issue. The scary thing to me is, that had I not happen to see that quick flash of the "service hybrid light" I would be driving this unsafe vehicle without knowing it, as it did not turn on the check engine light, so I had no idea there was a stored code until the dealer checked it out. That means there are probably thousands of folks driving around at risk without even know there is a safety issue. -this issue has apparently been going on for months, as the other Jeep at my dealership has there for months now.

20 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/30/2025

I lease a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe that has developed serious and unresolved safety issues. While driving at highway speeds, typically between 70 and 75 mph, the vehicle has repeatedly lost power and begun to decelerate on its own without driver input. When this occurs, I am unable to maintain speed with traffic, creating a dangerous condition and placing myself, my passengers, and other motorists at risk. In addition to the loss of power, the vehicle regularly displays warnings related to critical systems, including electric mode being unavailable, fuel and oil refresh in progress, emergency/sos system unavailable, hybrid power loss, and an airbag system warning. These warnings are documented and have appeared across multiple service visits. The vehicle has been taken to two different authorized Jeep dealerships and has spent nearly a month in service between them. Despite extended diagnostic efforts, neither dealership has been able to identify or repair the underlying issue. The problem remains unresolved. In addition, two active recalls continue to show as incomplete in the system and have not been successfully addressed. As of now, the vehicle is still at the dealership and is not available for use. Given the unresolved loss of power at highway speeds and the incomplete recalls, I do not consider the vehicle safe to operate. I have contacted both Jeep/stellantis and Chrysler capital in writing to request assistance and resolution. Despite providing documentation and allowing ample time for review, I have not received a response or acknowledgment. All repair attempts, warnings, recall status, and communications have been documented. I am seeking resolution because the vehicle remains unsafe, unreliable, and unavailable for normal use despite multiple repair opportunities and extensive time in service.

21 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/18/2025

While driving on the highway, I heard a loud pop coming from the roof of my vehicle. I have a panoramic sunroof. I then pulled over and saw that my sunroof had shattered. The car is less than two years old. I did some research and discovered that I was not the first person to whom this happened. I contacted Jeep, and they were no help with it. They stated they were not responsible for anything and did not even care what I had to say.

22 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/11/2025

While driving on the freeway, the vehicle turned off. No engine, no electric, no headlights. I had to coast to the side during traffic. The mechanic is replacing the ocr module, stating the car thought it was in a collision and turned off. Though obviously it wasn’t. Before which, the screen flashes off from time to time. The car has had loss of power for a moment in the past but never all the way off. This was extremely dangerous and I’m concerned the ocr will not fix the issue. It is with the dealership now.

23 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/02/2025

This vehicle has a nonstop history of unresolved electrical issues cause numerous warnings of failed systems, failure to start and randomly going into "limp mode". It has been to the Jeep service shop 7 times so far. Recently, the vehicle completely shut down and lost all power while driving at speeds higher than 50 mph on 2 separate occasions. On February 2nd 2025 the vehicle lost power on the freeway at 80 mph. I swerved into the left shoulder to prevent an accident. Vehicle was towed to Jeep service center, a software upgrade was performed and returned to me as presumed "fixed" by Jeep. On February 25, 2025 the vehicle again lost all power while driving down a highway at 50 mph. Again, forcing me to swerve off the road onto the right shoulder to avoid an accident. Vehicle again was towed to a Jeep service center where it remains.

24 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/31/2024

At approximately 38,000 miles we were driving on the expressway heading west into the evening sun when we pulled down the driver sunvisor for the first time and heard a snap and the entire visor fell off the roof into driver lap. Heavy visibility and safety concern. Also near 56,000 miles the exact same thing happened on the passenger side of the vehicle and after much research, this appears to be a very common theme for these parts and we are concerned as a consumer to spend close to $1,000 to replace this safety equipment to only have the same thing happen again. Need help as Jeep and the local dealership are unwilling to offer any assistance.

25 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/21/2024

The front passenger door is unable to be opened from the inside or the outside. The handle from the inside feels like it has no tension, like something snapped inside. Two local mechanics suggested taking to the dealer as this seems like a potential safety issue with no means of egress from the passenger side if needed. Dealer said they have never seen this problem and deem that a fix will be very difficult as they are unable to open the door to remove the interior panel. The only way to access the latch mechanism is to remove the exterior door panel, a major task. Two safety issues- impossible to exit door inside, what if this happens to another door and I am unable to escape my vehicle? or unable to get my child from inside? and because the mechanism cannot be inspected, is the door safely locked, or will it open while driving? contacted Chrysler and they are unwilling to cover repair since vehicle is at 39,000 miles and warranty ended at 36,000. Chrysler rep also said never seen this issue before. Should be covered as manufacturing defect and potential major safety issue.

26 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/13/2024

I would like to register a formal complaint for the timing its taking to get the open recall resolved on this vehicle. Nhtsa recall number24v-720. Due to this issue, I am unable to leverage the hybrid/electric features of my vehicle which is costly me more money in fuel costs. Where I previously filled my tank approximately every 3 months, I now have to do it weekly. I have read online that estimates are taking another 4-5 months before resolution. That is unacceptable solution to an existing problem. This is not a great experience for a first time hybrid buyer who is trying to adopt the new technology. When I purchased my vehicle, I influenced two friends to also purchase one. I would have not made this recommendation had I known open recall issues will not be resolved in a timely manner. Lastly, now I have the concern of parking the vehicle in my garage which could result in losing my entire household and its contents. This is unreal to me.

27 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/04/2024

Jeep app has failed to inform me of recalls in a timely manner. The gas buddy app linked to my vehicle VIN provided information within 24 hours of your published recall. I have checked my VIN in your app to verify that it is part of the recall. Since the battery fires can start without notice and could destroy my house and kill my family this should have been immediately sent via the Jeep app. The recall notification on the Jeep app has not been updated since 2 August 2024, also unacceptable - this should be updated at worst weekly. Sending notification by snail mail is not acceptable in the 21st century especially when there is an app and the vehicle has internet connection. The recall should also be announced on the start screen when I start my vehicle.

28 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/27/2024

Vehicle immediately accelerated as I was attempting to pull out of the house garage. I pressed hard on the breaks to halt it. I then returned the gear knob to park (“p”) mode. I tried again to place the gear knob on drive and the vehicle started raving on high as if it was about to take off at full speed. I waited for a few minutes while it was on park “p” mode, with the engine still idling, and placed it in reverse “r” mode to return into the garage and the same thing happened in reverse mode. It jumped back in full speed when I gradually released the brakes. Engine was raving extremely high. I decided to shut it off and schedule an appointment with the dealership for a vehicle inspection. As is, not certain if it might do the same while out on the street driving it. Vehicle just had a recall inspection done on 4/20/2024. This is the first time the engine has done such.

29 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/11/2024

Sunroof exploded outward while driving on a smooth road. This percussion of an explosion would have caused serious problems had anyone been around me. The sound alone was damaging to my ears. The sunshade was closed and kept glass from raining down on me. No objects were able to fall on my vehicle nor were there any visible vehicles in front of me nor behind me.

30 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2024

April 1, 2024, I was backing out of a parking spot on the 4th floor of the parking garage at work when my car displayed an sos on the radio monitor and then my Jeep Grand Cherokee shut off and would not restart. I then had to call parking for my job to redirect traffic because I was preventing other vehicles from exiting the garage because my vehicle was unable to restart and I had to have it towed back to the dealership in waynesboro GA and pay $120 to have this done. I waited over an hour for a tow truck to come and it is still unclear why this keeps happening. I am afraid that the next time it happens I may loss my life. I also called the dealership and Jeep wave to see if there was a way to restart the Jeep but no one was able to assist with the request. The vehicle is really becoming a problem for me.

31 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2024

I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the safety risk highlighted in the open recall 24v-132. Upon reviewing the details provided, particularly the issue involving the damaged pinch bolt which may break and lead to a loss of clamp load between the uca ball joint and the knuckle, I am gravely concerned about the potential consequences. As someone who prioritizes the safety of myself, my loved ones, and others on the road, it is distressing to contemplate the possible ramifications of such a failure. The prospect of the uca separating from the knuckle and the wheel subsequently falling outboard poses a significant threat not only to the occupants of the vehicle but also to other road users. In particular, the thought of being in a situation where the safety of my three children, or anyone else for that matter, is compromised due to this issue is deeply unsettling. The absence of prior warning exacerbates the seriousness of the situation, as it leaves little room for proactive measures to mitigate the risk. Given these circumstances, I implore you to take immediate action to address this safety concern and ensure the prompt implementation of necessary repairs or replacements as outlined in the recall. The well-being of everyone involved is paramount, and it is crucial that swift and decisive steps are taken to minimize the likelihood of any potential accidents or injuries. I appreciate your attention to this matter and trust that you will prioritize the safety of all individuals affected by this recall.

32 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/07/2024

-the sunroof shattered while driving. No one else on the road in front of vehicle while driving. -this covered the occupants (driver, front passenger, and two passangers in the middle row) with glass. -dealer not aware of any issue, plenty of online forms from the public having same issue. -reached out to insurance to file claim and have repaired. -glass was in perfect condition prior to exploding.

33 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2024

The system that has failed is the windshield has major distortion that affects the depth perception as you are driving. This is an extreme hazard as you cannot judge the distance of objects as they become distorted. Yes it was inspected by a Jeep dealership and they concurred with this distortion, in fact he laughed and said not sure how anyone drives this. Be aware as well that mopar in fact issued a service and replacement bulletin for this defect (attached) no warning lamps are issued. I purchased the car used from another state. When it arrived I noticed this defect but could do nothing at that time from whom I purchased it from. I have researched this and it is a defect known by mopar. They now are claiming to not be aware of this even though its all over the internet and I have the service bulletin issued by them.

34 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/24/2023

December 24-23 was in red lobster to pickup food about 5 mins my grand wagoneer was on fire.

35 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2023

While on the highway, the 2 piece panoramic moonroof exploded. There was a loud pop, and then the glass shattered. There was no indication of any previous issue. The sun guard screen was open to let the light in, so the glass just fell into the car. A small, but unconfirmed observation from other drivers on the highway at the time, made me think the glass also fell unto the highway as the glass exploded away from the car. The dealership I took the car to was unable to confirm this was an explosion due to a defect or something hitting the car. However, I did not witness any object flying over head that would have dropped anything and nothing was found in the car. Only the dealership has looked at the Jeep so far. My insurance has been contacted to just let them know this occurred, but no claim has been filed as of 11/3/23.
