The rear trunk opening while the vehicle is in motion the vehicle shutting down while driving at speeds over 40 mph, failing to recognize that it is moving the radio and infotainment system freezing for days at a time the vehicle frequently dying and becoming completely inoperable situations where the vehicle cannot be jump-started because it sparks, while all doors remain locked, leaving me with no way to access the car the car showing different & random amounts of fuel levels in the vehicle. None of which are accurate. It will show a half full tank with 157 miles left and within 10 minutes it then says I have a full tank with 342 miles left & it continues to change inaccurately.
I have a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee that I purchased July 19, 2024. I started having operational problems with the vehicle within two months. The car was in and out of the dealership five times through Nov. 2025. Each time the problem was verified by the service department and documented as such, including an incident of the engine shutting down when entering the expressway. I filed a lemon law claim September 2025, and settled December 2025. However, no reimbursement has been received. On Feb. 15, 2026, my car shut down completely as I was exiting a belt driven car wash, resulting in crashes of two vehicles in back of me. I had no control of shifting gears to move forward.
While driving my 2024 Jeep wagoneer, the vehicle experienced a sudden and complete loss of power without warning. The engine shut off while the vehicle was in motion, including during a turn. When this occurred, I lost power steering, which made the vehicle difficult to control and created an immediate safety hazard. Prior to this incident, the vehicle had ongoing issues including overheating, repeated check engine lights, and power steering warnings. The vehicle has been taken to the dealership multiple times. A thermostat repair was previously performed, and at a later visit I was told there was an electrical/battery wiring issue that was repaired. Despite these repairs, the problem has continued. The loss of power while driving placed my safety and the safety of others at risk, especially since the failure occurred without warning and resulted in loss of steering assistance. I no longer feel the vehicle is safe to operate, particularly when transporting my children. The issue has been inspected by the dealership on multiple occasions; however, the root cause has not been permanently identified or resolved. Warning lights, including the check engine light, have appeared intermittently prior to the failure. The defect appears to be recurring and.
The vehicle in question, has been to a certified Jeep dealer twice, to remedy the problem of locking axles and the center differential. The remedy by crown cdjr in columbus OH, was to replace the control module. Performance cdjr of gorgesville /columbus OH had removed the center differential/transfer case for an inspection and performed updates. None of the aforementioned warranty work, fixed the problem. The vehicle has intermittent, apparent drivetrain differential locking issues, that require an ignition cycle. In addition, the electronic limited slip rear axle appears to lock near 75% in auto and snow mode, which renders the vehicle's operation unsafe. This is especially apparent in 25 to 45 mph turns, sharp turns, as when merging from one intersection to a perpendicular other roadway. The car wants to go straight on slippery/wet pavement. On the 25th of November, a video was taken, by chance, when the vehicle was merging onto easton way from the off ramp of 270 north. The vehicle / car had a near miss of colliding with the concrete barrier of the easton way bridge. The vehicle is, in its current state, unsafe! the drivetrain growls and grinds while driving at low speeds. Performance cdjr of gorgesville columbus OH admitted, on the record , via audio recording, that the vehicle is defective, but eventually, after three weeks in their service department released, the vehicle to my pregnant wife, as operating as intended.
Sudden loss of power steering. After starting car, codes came up immediately for backup sensor needing service, then loss of power steering needing service, check engine light and flashing mileage on dashboard. Currently at dealership waiting for assessment.
The contact who is a state trooper reported that the driver of a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee was fatally injured when a second vehicle crashed into the rear of the vehicle. A witness reported that the vehicle had stopped in the left eastbound lane on [xxx] when a second vehicle traveling approximately 70 mph crashed into the rear of the vehicle. During the crash, the driver was partially ejected from the closed sunroof. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the second vehicle was transported to the hospital with multiple fractures. No further information was available. The contact indicated that medical personnel removed the deceased driver from thru the sunroof of the vehicle and no doors had opened during the crash. While investigating the crash the contact reported that the steering wheel had separated from the steering column and was located near the rear seat area. Also, there were no visual signs of damage to the steering column or any sheered-off bolts from the steering column present. The contact indicated that an eye witness also indicated that the vehicle was driving erratically prior to stopping. The vehicle was later towed away. The cause of the incident was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not yet contacted. The failure mileage was unknown.
-steering boot popped open causing steering rack assembly to need replacement at 3,216 miles. -power steering warning light engaged making me aware of an issue on 8/5/24. A strange cranking noise when making u turns occurred infrequently. -car was taken to a repair shop on 8/5/24 where prior suspension, steering and wheel alignment work had been done on 6/25/24 due to fender bender. Diagnostic was performed and repair facility advised that code stated that a "power steering (computer) update was needed" and that Jeep would have to perform the necessary computer update. -car was subsequently taken to Jeep dealership on 8/5/24 and dealership stated that a new power steering rack assembly was needed and that manufacturer warranty would be notified. Communication from dealership on 8/28/24 added that steering boot was torn and that incident was billed as additional claim to insurance incident on 6/25/24. -vehicle component has not been confirmed by manufacturer and dealership is unwilling to pursue inspection of part because vehicle was involved in a fender bender on 6/25/24 at 2,410 miles. - initial repair facility does not believe that damage to steering boot existed on 6/25/24. -insurance representative has confirmed damage and paid additional claim, but cannot confirm if it was caused due to a defect in the part. It is my opinion that this issue may be caused by a defective part due to the timing of the issue and visual inspection of the part. I would like for NHTSA to evaluate the soundness of this power steering component due to the documented power steering component failures and recalls of the Jeep Grand Cherokee laredo models manufactured 2021-2024. Due to the fact that the two repair facilities provided entirely different reasons for the power steering warning light, I would also request an investigation into the code that should appear when a power steering boot or steering rack assembly fails verses the code for a power steering "computer update".
Sudden faults while driving. Power steering unavailable, active lane assist disabled, auto park disabled, sos calling unavailable, passenger airbag fault,.
We have an unknown problem with a clunking/creaking noise while driving the vehicle we believe is coming from the front of the vehicle, possibly the suspension or steering. We are not sure we feel safe driving the vehicle since after taking it to the dealer three times in the past year, the dealer acknowledges the clunking but has not been able to identify and fix the issue. We have been told by the dealer it is safe to drive - but if they can't identify and fix the issue - how do they know that to be the case? without being able to identify the cause of the noise and whatever resulting unusual wear and tear, will we have a catastrophic steering or suspension failure while driving the vehicle? our 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe trailhawk, (purchased new) has an "air" suspension - not sure if it's an option or standard on the trailhawk models. We have had it in to the dealer three times for this issue - this last time the dealer had the truck for 16 plus weeks. The front stabilizer bar has been replaced multiple times, the upper and lower control arms have all been replaced, all four air shocks have been replaced, and a mounting bracket replaced. The dealer told us they opened a star case with Jeep and the Jeep engineer has been on-site to examine the vehicle. After the engineer requested three different fixes that did not fix the problem, the dealer returned the vehicle and stated they are aware the issue persists and the Jeep engineering group is working on a resolution (even though they no longer have the vehicle in their possession to test solutions). They will notify us when a repair is available.
