Randomly, and without warning, the instruments, gauges, and displays will switch into a language I do not speak or understand (italian). Coinciding with the switch to italian language, cluster and radio display settings revert back to default settings, auto door locks and paddle shifter becomes inoperative (with no menu to enable), pedestrian emergency brake (peb) lamp or forward collision warning (fcw) lamp turns on with no way to disable, units of measurement including speed, temperature, etc. All change, and many other random settings change as well. ***this is clearly a dangerous situation because of all the functions and gauges that change, and the fact it is difficult if not impossible to recover from this due to the language of the setting menus, and the complexity of discovering and navigating through all these changes. I have taken it to the dealer twice, and they say there is nothing they can do and to wait for a possible software update, but none has come and it has been over a year. When this happens, even if one is able to wade through all the settings menus and change setting back, some items cannot be reset (like the fca off lamp). Almost caused crash twice!!!.

I have been having this error message appear intermittently in the car upon starting the vehicle since I purchased the vehicle in August 2024. See attached photo. The message appears seconds after starting up and will go away. Lane keep assist will turn off but I can turn it back on. Additionally, I have had a similar occurrence in multiple occasions while driving where these systems will turn off and present an orange light on the dashboard. I’m not able to turn the systems back on when this happens. It will reset itself after turning the car on and then off. I have had it in the dealer for this. The explanation was if the battery is below 80% charge this will happen. Seems like a weird response. You would think that if it happens once when the battery is allegedly under 80% charge, if you immediately turn off the car, and restart it ( not giving the car time to charge) it would happen again. I have tested that and it appears untrue. Appears to be some sort of software or sensor issues within the car. I have seen this issue online and the dealer seemed familiar with it on other cars.

Lane keep assist and automatic emergency braking turning off on their own at startup. Issue has persisted intermittently in July 2025. Dealership has replaced parts with issue persisting. Vehicle has been in the shop over 40 days for this issue.
My Jeep has been a consistent problem. The vehicle gives many warning and "service powertrain" warnings in the dashboard. Additionally, at the same time as the warnings, the vehicle will lurch - slowing down significantly and making passengers in the vehicle panic. I have gone to the dealer to already fix not 1 but 5, yes five, recalls related to the powertrain system. This last visit (today) I was told that stellantis acknowledges the issue, but does not have a fix. This vehicle was clearly not ready for production and stellantis needs to be held accountable to it's customers.

Starting at around 12k miles, my odometer started flashing and backup cameras completely stopped working, unable to see while backing up, at the same time the active lane management and auto emergency braking went out as well, took my car into the dealership and was told pam module was not good and covered under manufacturer warranty, even after pam module was replaced, the active lane management and auto emergency braking is still not working.
There is a recall on my 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee it is a safety recall. Manufacturer recall number94b NHTSA recall number24v-838 recall statusrecall incomplete, remedy not yet available summary an hcu/abs module that falsely reads pressure in the primary circuit may illuminate the brake lights (up to 4. 5 mph), disable the abs and electronic stability control (esc), and allow the vehicle to start and shift out of park without the brake pedal being depressed. Safety risk a brake light that inadvertently illuminates may result in surrounding drivers not receiving accurate indication of slowing or stopping, which can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning. Disabled abs and esc, that are needed to help control the vehicle, can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning. A vehicle that is able to start and shift out of park without depressing the brake pedal can result in unintended vehicle movement which can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning and/or injury to others outside the vehicle.

Jeep cares case 91320430 while driving with lane keeping assistance/cruise control enabled, on a dry clear road (i77 toll lanes) between exit 36 and exit 18 - both directions. It has happened elsewhere, but these are our major commuting route. The Jeep would all the sudden veer to the right or left out of the lane, and we would have to fight the lane tracking to keep it centered in lane. Our Jeep wrangler has been in the repair shop for at least 4 occurrences of the issue. 1st was initial diagnosis at about 6,000 miles. Was told that the sensors needed realignment and to bring back so they could keep for the day and it was long process. At that appointment we were told that the alignment was out and needed to be adjusted. During the adjustment, a part was damaged and needed to be replaced, the replacement part was damaged requiring a 3rd part. Time in shop was almost 30 days. 2nd attempt was about 24,000 miles. This time the alignment of sensors was performed, but on test drives, it still ended up pulling to the right and repair shop consulted with Jeep engineers about the situation and determined that at least one part needed to be replaced. Time in shop was another 30 days. After this repair, it pulls even harder and requires additional force to maintain center lane, including more occurrences pulling to the left into oncoming traffic. At 35,000 miles, opened case with Jeep cares as warrantee is due to expire at 36,000 miles. Jeep currently at repair and after multiple test drives. . . They are not able to find the trouble. This is a safety issue as it unexpectedly pulls the vehicle into oncoming traffic. We have 2023 Jeep compass with similar system with no issue dealer and service location: hendick Chrysler, Jeep ram 7630 hendrick auto plaza NW concord, nc 28027.
I am reporting significant safety issues with my 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited x. The vehicle has repeatedly experienced failures in critical safety systems such as adaptive cruise control (acc), parksense, and lane departure, which randomly disable while driving, particularly in cold weather or after a restart. These failures compromise essential safety functions necessary for highway driving and parking. Additionally, I encountered a severe issue regarding the vehicle’s lack of over-voltage protection. While charging the battery, it was accidentally exposed to 48 volts instead of 12 volts, resulting in damage to key electronic modules, including those controlling safety systems. This lack of protection from foreseeable charging errors is concerning, especially given the advanced electronics in modern vehicles. Other Jeep owners have reported similar issues related to voltage fluctuations affecting acc, lane departure, and parksense systems. Battery-related issues seem to be directly linked to the failure of these critical safety features?(Jeep cherokee club)?(Jeep forum). Voltage instability, particularly with the engine stop/start (ess) system, has also been widely discussed, further pointing to potential flaws in Jeep’s electrical design. Given the critical nature of these systems, their failures due to inadequate over-voltage protection and inconsistent electrical performance represent a serious safety risk. I request that NHTSA investigate these concerns, as they may be affecting a broader range of Jeep vehicles, putting drivers and passengers at risk. While a fire did not occur, the potential is there due to the burning of electronics with strong odors and smoke.

I have owned this car for almost 1 year. From day one this "radio" area 10" screen with a computer behind it has been over heating and glitching out. The effects of this are several and random. Freezing and restarting randomly. Calls dropping from car to phone and back again intermittantly. While using gps maps will freeze so I miss turns and I am not where the maps says I am. After reversing the backup picture on screen from camera will sometime freeze on screen even 5 min after I am moving forward and it is a frozen picture. Most recently a disturbing saftey issue is that I was backing into my driveway and the screen froze and not backing up warning sound or visual was real time and I almost hit my fence, as my screen showed green lines and that I was plenty far away when in fact I was inches from the fencing. The dealership has replaced the glass screen but not the modual or computer behind it. They have sent me softare updates over the air. I have heard from them and from others this is a major issues with this model and year with these panasonic computers in them. I am very sad and frustrated about this!.
1. Unknown - clunking noise in front driver side. May be related to “part 573 safety recall” with the pinch bolt. Experiencing similar issues as described in this recall report. 2. Unknown - intermittent failure of the “active lane management” system. System will stop working and become unavailable while driving. 3. Unknown - cylinder 3 injector circuit failure. Intermittent issue. Check engine light activates and is on for a couple days then goes off. Error code: p02f0.
While driving the vehicle on two different occasions. One was out of town and the screens and dash board going black. I tried turning off the vehicle and back on to reset it. It did not work! then on another occasion the screen went black would not power off. The dash screen read alm and cruise control unavailable needs service. I drove straight to the dealership and showed them. They scheduled service the next day. Got a call one of the service technicians was aware of the situation and stated Chrysler needed to provide a recall on the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee or create an update for the software system. Vehicle is still not fixed. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle.
Advanced brake assist / emergency assist issue - while highway driving, during a sunny day and with no cars for at least 1 mile the system engaged the emergency brake as if it detected an eminent accident. This was at highway speeds so caused some commotion in the car. Once safely stopped in a rest area I turned off that system. The next day the active lane management system stated it needed service, that later went away. Moreover when the brake pedal is depressed the peddle pulses, leading me to believe the rotors are warped. This SUV only has 3300 miles on it. It is scheduled to go to the dealership next week.
When I started the car and backed out I was alerted that the power steering had a failure and lane departure warnings also. Power steering was not working. Left car for an hour and when I restarted it, warning light was off and steering worked again. Random power steering failure is extremely scary.

I was driving down the road doing about 35 mph and suddenly I lost power steering and car jerked to the right. Power steering light, forward collision control, lane assistance, traction control and blind spot warning lights all came on, and a message appeared on my dashboard to have them all serviced. I took my Jeep to the dealership I purchased it at in April and they are inspecting the cause of the problem. This is the second time my lane assistance and forward collision have had issues, and the dealership was unable to find the cause the first time. This is first time for power steering, blindspot and traction control.
On three separate occasions today, while driving on an interstate with the lane departure turned off, the wagoneer seized up going from 75mph to mid 40mph quickly. The vehicle shuttered and went side to side a bit like it was reacting to lane departure. It was scary and I was almost rammed from behind once. It also started swaying and serving on occasion. Lane departure is off and it’s far marie than normal lane departure movement which eases the vehicle back. Vehicle is going into service tomorrow.
Power steering and lane keep assist have failed 3 times already for a new vehicle with less than 5k miles on it. Driven to/from work only.
The power steering and adaptive lane control system repeatedly fails. Loss of power steering makes the vehicle harder to turn. This problem was reproduced by a dealer and supposedly corrected by way of software update. This problem has not been corrected and continues to reoccur following the software update. The lamps for the power steering and adaptive lane control system appear when the systems are not working.
The vehicle lost both power steering and lane keep assist during normal operation. The mechanical fall back steering still works, but that requires significant more force to turn the steering wheel. The issue went away next time I started the vehicle.
Occasionally start car and receive alert on dash stating the electronic power steering is unavailable and that lane management is unavailable. Vehicle has already been to dealership for another recall but it appears that the current issue still remains.
Came out from an event with my family, tried to start my car. Wouldn’t start. When it did start a bunch of lights same came on. Power steering unavailable, as well as active lane assist needs service.
What component failed: power steering & lane management. When component failed: 01/19/2022 at approx. 6:45am car available for inspection?: yes details: while driving from home to work this morning, the instrument cluster displayed an error message "power steering unavailable service required" and a red warning light with a steering wheel and exclamation mark above it. I was traveling at approx. 55mph on the interstate. Because the power steering failed, the active lane management features also malfunctioned. Safety impact: I was driving on the interstate at a high speed. Fortunately I was on a straight-away and had time to react for an upcoming turn/bend in the highway. Loss of power steering made it difficult to change lanes, merge, and make turns. This decreased safety by making it more difficult to control the vehicle. The lane management feature also malfunctioned and decreased safety. This features warns me if the car is crossing into another lane and also provides steering assistance to course correct when the driver doesn't respond fast enough. Because power steering and lane management failed, I had difficulty turning the vehicle and maintaining safe position in my lane, especially on curvy and high-speed roads. Inspection/reproduction of issue: the vehicle is currently at the dealer where it was purchased for inspection by the service dept. This issue has not been reproduced on this particular vehicle. However, this issue was confirmed and reproduced on another Grand Cherokee l I purchased in November 2021. The current vehicle I am reporting the issue for is a replacement car because the vehicle purchased in November 2021 also had the same issue with the power steering, lane departure and lane management.
The power steering is failing randomly on this new car with only about 8,000 miles. It mostly happens when it is colder and first thing in the morning. A message appears that says power steering unavailable, service required. It also gives another error message that the lane departure assistance is not available, service required. I took the dealership, they claimed to fix it, and the next day, it had the same issue. They now have it and claim that only a software update can fix it. When the power steering is in a failed state the vehicle is harder to drive and does not have the lane assistance available.
At 1321 miles power steering went unavailable while driving, restarted car and it was still unavailable. Car now has 1700 miles and have had the issue 7 times. Dealer can not get me in until Feb 15th, 2021. Which is unexceptionable. With no power steering other safety features are unavailable, like cruise control, lane senors and other. I’m making this claim hoping for a full recall on this issue. Many others having the same problem.
Dear NHTSA, I am submitting a complaint regarding persistent power steering issues in my Jeep Grand Cherokee l. The recurring problem, specifically the "power steering unavailable / alm unavailable" error, remains unresolved despite repeated attempts to address it through service appointments. This issue is concerning, and I believe it poses a safety risk that requires urgent attention. 1. Component/system description: the power steering system in my Jeep Grand Cherokee l consistently displays the "power steering unavailable / alm unavailable" error. 2. Safety concerns: the unresolved power steering issue has created significant safety concerns. The sudden unavailability of power steering functionality affects the vehicle's maneuverability, posing a risk to both the driver and other road users. 3. Dealer response: I have brought this matter to the attention of the dealership during multiple service appointments. However, a satisfactory resolution has not been provided. The unavailability of loaner vehicles during service appointments has further exacerbated the issue, as I rely on my car as my sole mode of transportation. 4. Documentation: I have documented the issue with screenshots of the error messages, providing clear evidence of the recurring problem. 5. Seasonal limitation claim: disconcertingly, I was informed that a resolution could only be pursued during the winter season. This limitation is puzzling and raises concerns about the effectiveness of the proposed solution. 6. Prevalence of the issue: a cursory online search has revealed that many other Jeep Grand Cherokee l owners are experiencing similar power steering problems. This indicates a broader issue that requires thorough investigation and resolution. I am willing to provide any additional information or collaborate in further investigations.
Lane keeping assistance fails and disengages mid trips. The vehicle is then allowed to drift to other lanes without correct or alert.
I purchased a 2019 Grand Cherokee and the radio started to delaminating. Called Jeep cares and they told me if I went and got a diagnostic saying that the screen was delaminating, and I got a diagnostic that said that they would put it in the system and it would be covered was ever said to me about a warranty because I’m over my warranty, but I have an extended warranty through lafontaine. It’s called easy care and when they told me that I was excited because, I was gonna get my radio fixed because the radio is the main brains to the car controls the camera on the phone or settings. I’ll have to get diagnostic. I called to make sure that was in the system and the lady told me that they changed the policy and that they would not cover it. The company knows all those radios that they put in those cars are defective and they are replacing them, but they’re giving people a hard time that don’t have a warranty and the fact that I was told it would be taken care of they should be held accountable to their word it’s a contract, even if it was verbal. And spreading, and that means that that radio can take control of my car is a getting somebody hurt or myself. It is very distracting the screen where it’s peeling on the inside. . Lafontaine told me carol warranty and insinuated it was going to be covered. That’s why I had to drive all the way up to fenton to get the diagnostic done there and then once I did the diagnostic, they said there was no warranty and the dealership does not want to help me out of her hands somebody has to be accountable for him. Jeep knows about the defective products and . Several people gone through the same thing. They would rather make people come to them and then try to collect all this money for their defective product. It was the beginning of September when I called and I talked to somebody from customer care a about the Jeep. I’m finally complaints with whoever I can until they fix my radio like they told me they were going to do.
