My complaint is regarding my 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the left rear seat belt. The seat belt has worked fine until the other day when it just up and quite working. Now the seat belt will not snap back into position. I thought I would check to see if there were any recalls on this and noticed there were recalls on 1999 models like mine, but they did not include my vehicle in this recall. The NHTSA recall # for the rear seat belts is 98v276000. I find this kind of strange that there would be a recall on (1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee) the same thing that I am now having the problem with. I have ordered the part and it is going to cost me $97. 45 to get it fixed not including installation.

I am a child passenger safety tech. While attempting to install a peg perego infant seat and base in a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee I found the seat belt buckle very prone to release when the edge of the infant seat base bumped into the raised red release button on the seat belt buckle. Vehicle VIN 1j4g248s6yc349836.

Was informed of the potential failure of gen 3 seat belts through a website. I performed my own "elbow" test on the seat belts in the rear seat of my 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee and discovered they unlatched during my simulation.

The failure of rear passenger seat belt mechanism has allowed the occupant to hit the front seat before locking.
I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee limited year 2003. It has the gen-3 seat belts in the back seat. These seat belts have been known to release in crashes. I tested the seat belt out and it releases with a simple touch of the elbow. I contacted daimler Chrysler and explained that the safest place for children is in the back seat but it is useless if the seat belts release upon impact. My 6 month is safer in the front seat with seat belts that work properly. Daimler Chrysler explained to me that if the seat belts are used properly they are safe. Isn't there only 1 way to use a seat belt? I explained to daimler Chrysler that I saw a crash test with a dummy and the seat belt released upon impact. Did the dummy do something wrong??? why do people have to lose their lives or be severly injured before a manufacturer is willing to admit they have a problem or try to correct it? I am contacting you because I think there should be a recall from daimler Chrysler so they stop putting these dangerous seat belts in the vehicles they manufacture. I would need a seat belt that works properly. Please advise. Thank you, darla graham.

I have found that many 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles are missing the required child safety seat latch ready anchors in the rear seats. Have ordered new seats to correct condition and the replacement seats are also missing the latch anchors. Example vehicle identification numbers: 1j4gw48s52c294145, 1j4gw48s52c290760. More available upon request.
The seat belts in my Jeep Grand Cherokee come un latched, this concerns me because I have two children in car seats.
My 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited, gen 3 seat belt in the rear, unlashed unexpectedly. I have two Chrysler cars with this type of belt. I would never have bought them knowing the belts are potentially unsafe. I have two small children. Please these recalled.
Consumer is unhappy with dealers recall repair, excessive time to complete (98v-276). Yh.
Rear seat belt straps, when buckled, rub against the seat fabric causing excessive wear.
