Air bag stays on. I took to dealer in fairbanks, ak. Was told there's a recall but no remedy yet. However, they could fix it for $1,000. Since I did not choose to pay $1,000, they made me sign a form indicating I'm aware that the airbags may not deploy in an accident. How is it they can fix it if I fork over $1,000 but not able to as a recall? so now I'm going drive for months until they get a remedy just like the hitch problem. Both of which are serious safety issues.

We had the m35 recall done at south point Chrysler Jeep Dodge in tulsa ok on approximately August 2, 2014. On September 18, 2014 my daughter was involved in a highway intersection accident where her car sustained front end damage so bad it was totaled. She was driving approximately 10mph and the other car was going 65mph. None of the airbags deployed when the collision happened. The other cars airbags deployed. That car was totaled also. I have several pictures of my daughters car immediately after the collision. The police, fire department and oklahoma highway patrol all were surprised her airbags did not deploy. Subsequently she has sustained a concussion and is having to have several mris and CT scans due to the car accident. I would like to know why her airbags did not deploy at impact. I thought this recall was suppose to take car of airbags from deploying inadvertently but didn't think it would cause them to not function at all.
On 20 may 14, vehicle was brought to waldorf (maryland) darcars (Chrysler Jeep) after dash air bag icon came on steady. I was told that air bag would not deploy as long as the icon was lit. Occ. Rstr. Control module #56010501-ag needed to be ordered ($266. 00 for part only), but the dealership already had 22 on back order. . . . 22!. . . At a single dealership! so now I have to ride around w/o an operable air bag until Chrysler comes through with this critical part. Makes you wonder how prevalent this problem is.

Received a safety recall m35/NHTSA notice in Jan. 2013 and I understand that this was first issued in 2012. The airbag light has recently come on and off while driving (luckily the airbags have not deployed). Called a local Chrysler dealer to find out about parts and was informed of the same info as in the notice. . . Dealer is waiting on Chrysler to come up with parts or as the service manager put it "instructions on how to fix the problem". I don't understand how Chrysler can get away with and not be held accountable for not addressing and correcting this issue in a timely manner knowing the potential for injury and god forbid death. I for one will not be purchasing any Chrysler products new or used in the future - simply because of the lack of accountability and action on Chrysler's part.
I own a 2002 Jeep Liberty and had never heard of a recall on the engine! I did get a notice for the air bag issues months ago and have contacted the local dealer who maintains that the parts aren't available. Didn't some other autos have the same problem? have they been fixed? I don't want to have a wreck and the air bags not deploy and then I become a crispy critter. Nor do I want the air bags to deploy when I'm driving down the interstate doing between 60 - 70 miles per hour. Again, possible crash with burning to death. Someone somewhere needs to get Chrysler to work. Do they need a financial handout? guess I'm gonna have to trade this clunker in and get something other than a Jeep. Too bad cause I love my Jeep.

Within the last month upon starting my Jeep & sometimes while driving it, the airbag light comes on. The airbag has not deployed, but the light comes on periodically. There has been an investigation into the airbags on Jeep liberties, but no recall as of yet, so my only option is to pay to have it diagnosed & repaired. If the bag deploys it surely would cause injury or even wrecks if it's unexpected!.

At approximately 8 p. M. My boyfriend and I were traveling at approximately 45-50 mph when the front of my 2002 Jeep Liberty struck the front wheel of another drivers vehicle as they pulled out and neglected to yield the right of way. There was extensive damage to both vehicles which needed to be towed away. We went to the hospital with whiplash, knee, chest, shoulder, and back injuries. The other driver was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. Many people were curious as to why our airbags did not deploy. I think if they had deployed it may have prevented some of the injuries that were caused do to this accident.
I had a front end impact with a guard rail in my 2002 Jeep Liberty at a speed between 50 and 60 mph bringing the vehicle to an almost instant stop. The airbags failed to deploy. I was slammed against the dashboard injuring my knees and my wife is receiving continuing medical treatment for the neck and back injuries she sustained. I contacted Jeep in December 2009 about the issue, a spokesperson for Jeep called me back and told me that, "if the airbags didn't go off then they must not have needed to. ".
