I am experiencing a rattling sound when driving uphill or downhill through driveway, traveling 5-20 miles an hour. I took my Jeep 2002 Liberty 2wd to get serviced and received recommended repairs: prosteer control arm with ball joint upper center, remove and install propeller shaft to replace universal joints on both ends, rear wheel bearings, tail pipe is welded to muffler, muffler does not meet design specifications and should be replaced due to exhaust leak as well, remove rack and pinion, complete rack as does not meet design specifications and is leaking. I was driving about 25 mph and my rear right side tire was smoking profusely. I pulled over and noticed the gray smoke from my tire. I took the car to check the rear breaks. They were fine but was told that I had a leak from the exhaust pipe which dripped on to that area. The car has 75,806 miles. I was told that I could loose control of vehicle and entire area can collapse during traffic due to these issues. Aside from these issues, I am experiencing a whistling sound, problems with rear drivers side passenger power window regulator which produces grind-like sound. The window came off and I was told that I needed a new regulator for the window. I'm also experiencing a red stain in engine oil drippage on ground. Finally, strange odor from car -odor continues to be present whether I wash the carpets and seats (smells like mold/mildew or skunk).
I have had three rear power window regulators break on my 2002 Jeep Liberty. One replacement only lasted eight months with very little use. The failure has caused the door to jam so it cannot be opened. This creates a very hazardous condition that in case of an accident a rear passenger cannot get out of the vehicle through that door. I have read other complaints on the internet about this problem. It seems that this defect is quite common with Jeep Liberty's.
The contact owns a 2002 Jeep Liberty. While parked, the rear driver side window fell into the door panel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the mechanic stated that the power window assembly would have to be replaced. After the repair, the same failure occurred on the passenger side window. In addition, the contact stated that when the rear lift gate was unlocked electronically, it would then automatically lock independently. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.
I have a 2002 Jeep Liberty and I am having continuous issues with the windows. They will stop working or fall down. At $400 a pop to get them fixed and reading numerous other complaints Chrysler needs to have these on a recall list.
The complaint that I'm contacting you about, is about vehicles that have non-adjustable headlights. I own a 2002 Jeep Liberty with non-adjustable headlights. After I purchased my Jeep back in July, I took it to my mechanic to get the headlights adjusted being that on a clear night, visibility is extremely poor. I can actually drive with the headlights on high beam without impairing oncoming drivers vision. My mechanic informed me that the headlights on the Jeep are non-adjustable. Tonight I drove in light snow flurries and it was like I was driving in a severe snow storm. I'm a truck driver with 30 years experience and also recently had to drive a 2006 freightliner with non-adjustable headlights. The headlights on this truck actually formed an ( x ) 20 feet in front of the truck. Meaning that the right headlight shown to the left side of the road and the left headlight shown to the right side of the road. Just driving in rain, my visibility was very poor. The rule of thumb is to not to overdrive your headlights. With the truck, I should have been driving no faster than 30 mph at nighttime and my Jeep isn't much better. Please investigate this. The several mechanic's that I've spoke to, have informed me that a lot of manufacturer's are going to these kind of headlights. I'm planning on purchasing driving lights for my Jeep, which I shouldn't have to do. Thanks.
We have a Jeep 2002 Liberty. In the past 2 years our rear windows have malfunctioned. The first happened over 2 years ago on just the rear passenger side. Just this year we had both rear (driver and passenger) windows fall. To get them fixed cost $350 a piece. This is the second time for the passenger side. I went to precision auto tune to fix it and when they called Jeep for the part the person over there already knew it was a Jeep Liberty before my mechanic explained what model it was. My mechanic said there was no recall for this. My problem is that we rarely use those back windows and for them to malfunction like this is really concerning, especially for the one we already repaired. I hope there is something you all can find because this is really expensive.
The contact owns a 2002 Jeep Liberty. While the vehicle was parked the contact stated the rear drivers side window dropped inside the door panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The technician stated the window regulator cable fractured. The technician stated the window regulator assembly and the power window motor had to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. After the vehicle was repaired the failure occurred a second time to the rear drivers side window and the rear passenger side window. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 61,844.
Window breaks off track and will not stay in the rolled up position. This is due to a poor design of a plastic clip that attaches the window to the regulator. Unfortunately I cant just buy the plastic clip you have to buy the regulator motor, track as one part. Plus Jeep will not fix the problem with the plastic clip, so all I can buy is the same flawed part. I live in north I think that it is pretty unsafe to have your windows falling down possibly in the middle of a blizzard. I wander how many accident have been caused buy people trying to hold up their window while driving?or what if the window falls down with a child in the back seat?.
The contact owns a 2002 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated the rear passenger side window regulator became inoperable and was replaced three times by an authorized dealer. In addition, the rear drivers side window regulator was replaced. The failure occurred whenever the vehicle was in motion or stationary. The manufacturer was notified of the repeated failures. The failure mileage was 77,000.
The contact owns a 2002 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated that the window regulator broke on all four windows at different times. The window regulators had been replaced twelve times. When the first three failures occurred, the vehicle was repaired by the dealer. The failures continued after the repairs were performed and the vehicle was repaired by an independent mechanic for the additional failures. The vehicle had not been repaired for the most recent malfunction; however, the dealer was notified. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000. The VIN was unavailable.
