general problems of the 2004 Jeep Liberty - part 1

Rt passenger lower ball joint broke. Found out it was an older recall for this when I didn't own the Jeep. Want to know if the recall could still be good.

I was driving down hardy st in kcmo on my way home start heading clunking rattling noise then a pop and Jeep came to a sudden gault. Car in back me swirved into resident yard to avoid accident I put car in park then back in drive car engage forward but front wheels appears locked as if park brakes were on I did the same with reverse Jeep engage backward but couldn't move I was stuck in the middle of the street I put Jeep in neutral but front wheels remained locked and stayed locked even when towed off.

About a month ago I was coming up the mountain and it was hard to stere and it made me hit a gard rail on the other side of the road and then about a week ago I was going to town and I stopped at the store to get gas and turn it off and it would not start back so I don't no what is wrong.

Driving on a city street, window regulator/lift on front passenger side broke for second time. Window suddenly drops completely down into door leaving passenger and interior of vehicle completely exposed to elements. Online search reveals common problem for a number of years for Jeep Liberty, with repairs being made by Jeep with same faulty part and being charged for repairs.

Code p0765 underdrive solenoid cir transmission issue. P0700 and p0755. Check engine light is currently on too.

I drove for about an hour on a steep mountain road. Sometimes using the overdrive to go up steep grades. The cruise control would not work. I made it to town and was on the main road stopped in traffic. Suddenly, the rpms raced and the Jeep accelerated on its own. I had my foot on the brake, but had to put it in park to stop it, but not before it hit then truck in front of me. I was shaken up and checked the floor mat to make sure it was not touching the gas pedal. It was not.

All but one of my windows will roll up or down because of the window regulator. There are recalls on other years but not 2004 due to many compliments. They should have a recall on this and fix the issue. Thank you.

As the driver was making a left turn into the closest left turning lane and accelerated at approximately 15mph, the vehicle fishtailed and swerved as the driver attempted to brake. There were several attempts to correct the turn however the vehicle was unresponsive and continued to swerve. The driver had no control of the rear end of the vehicle, almost as if something had come undone. There was a collision with a tree and a street sign due to great amounts of swerving that resulted in the car running off the side of the road.

Jeep tipm faulty, door locks do not work.

Manufacturers recall: my vehicle makes a serious vibration in the steering wheel and a loud humming noise when I drive down the road. It pulls to the right terribly and wears oot my tires constantly. It fish tales when I accelerate the gas petal and also when I take my foot off of the gas. It walks the road. And feels unstable when u reach 60mph. It feels very unsafe and does it's own thing when we are driving . It just goes all over the road . The results are the same whether it's being driven in the city or highway. Unpredictable my vehicle has been recalled by Chrysler u38 is the recall number and it's off the recall expansion of 12v-085.

Driving under 10 mph lightly applied breaks vehicle went into a spin. This has occurred three times now over the last three weeks. Luckily was able to avoid accidents each time. First two occurrences were experienced by my daughter. I took the vehicle for a test drive to determine cause/issue and found that the vehicle is dangerously defective when breaking a low speeds. I ran the vehicle up to 10 mph I applied the breaks in a controlled area while going ~10 mph on a straight away. Without warning the vehicle went into a terrible spin doing a 360 3 times. Felt as vehicle was going to tip. When this occurred to my daughter she reported that one side of the vehicle lifted off the ground.

A previous owner has taken a drill to the odometer to put out the lights. Without fixing the dash, a buyer cannot see the mileage. When checked on carfax, this vehicle has over 200,000 miles and was sold without disclosing that information.

Two concerns - the first being safety related. There is metal grinding noise when braking. All speeds - slow or fast, and in all "drives", two wheel or four wheel drive. No mechanics I have visited have been able to diagnose it. There are hundreds of other Jeep Liberty owners experiencing the same problem. I have spoken in person with several and read hundreds of complaints online of the same thing. Secondly, three of my windows have now failed to operate. Also a widespread Jeep Liberty issue with a piece in the lifting mechanism. The motors are operating just fine, but there is a piece inside the door that breaks and the windows fail to open or close thereafter. Sometimes, a lifting mechanism spring-looking piece grinds upwards into the cabin of the vehicle when the "broken" window mechanisms are accidentally activated. Also concerned these spring mechanisms could snap in the cabin and cause extreme harm.

I had to replace one of the motors for the back windows last year and now both of my front windows aren't working. This is costly and an inconvenience. Is there any help?.

Ii own this vehicle since 2014 since than I being replace tires almost every year & replaced the suspension arm control, struts/shocks etc. & still have problems will I driving. Shakes & bounces too much I afraid to have an accident or hurts somebody. Specially went am on the open highway (freeways).

The window regulator clip has broken on the rear windows at least six times. There is a plastic clip that evidently gets brittle and breaks. This clip should have been made of a stronger material. This keeps happening on windows that we never even use. So, it is not from wear and tear. Jeep covered the cost six times, but will not cover it again. It is very expensive to fix.

My passenger side window has fallen down and it will cost about $400 to have it repaired. From my understanding this is caused by a defective window regulator. I have read that Chrysler used a cheap plastic clip in its assembly. This is the 2nd window this has happened to. In searching the internet there are thousands of people that have had this problem, most of the problems are in the 2004 model. Jeep really should do a recall on this problem. I only have 36,000 miles on this vehicle and these problems should be paid for by Jeep Chrysler. I was driving to the store the other day in pouring down rain when all of the sudden the window dropped down. I stopped my car and tried to pull it up, but if fell down too far. The inside of my car got very wet because of this and I had to return home. I then took it to my local repair shop. It is still there, so I have been without a car for 4 days. As I have said there are hundreds of complaints about this problem and Chrysler Jeep won't do a thing about it for their customers.

My 2004 Jeep Liberty was a recall which I took to Chrysler for to get repair for front and back suspension and repair and gasoline tank apparently when I got my vehicle back oil was leaking all over the engine I took my vehicle back 2 days ago to be told that the could not help me their was no oil leaking when I brought it in they refuse to assist me with the problem can you please help me.

There is a recall on my car for the gas tank being too close to the rear bumper. I brought it to Jeep in nelliston,n. Y. They install a trailer hitch to correct the problem. They worked on it for one hour, and then told me they can't install the trailer hitch,because they broke a hole tap off in one of the mounting holes, this is not my fault, they will not correct my recall, and they will not even call me back, they tell me there is nothing they can do. So they are not going to honor the recall on my car, as far as they are concerned, I can just go ahead and burn up in my car, if I get rear ended,.

Window regulator has failed on front passenger window and many reports this is due to a cheap plastic assembly that supports the glass instead of metal. It is the manufactures fault as this fails for no reason. My window was tilted when I got in it this morning,no vandalism ,nor storms. It make a whirring noise when using the up button and went straight with the cable from the regulator snaking up the side of the door. It is up now but with all the info found feeling I should not pay for it and the issue just repeats itself after replacement because of inadequate equipment. Ntsb: 2004 Jeep Liberty: consumer stated the gas tank straps are not secure.

The window actuator came apart and wrapped around the door latch mechanism in the back where my toddler sets, we were unable to open the door. My husband had to take the door panel apart from the inside and cut the wire in order for the door to be opened. All of my window actuators have stopped working and have had to be replaced.

The rear window on the driver's side dropped into the door today. I looked it up online and it appears to be related to the window regulator and it is a commonly reported problem. If it is so common, I have trouble believing that they wouldn't create a recall. I guess Jeep is waiting for a large number of injuries first.

Driving down the road window fell down into the door and the window was closed and I just feel down. Very dangerous,.

The ball joint and then it went out of line front in raddleing under the Jeep.

There was not an accident. I'm just having a very hard (impossible) time getting any Jeep dealer to perform the safety recall n46 (installing trailer hitch on the back of Jeep to prevent fires/explosions in a collision). Every Jeep dealer keeps telling me the parts on national backorder and there is nothing they can do.

On numerous occasions including today, my 2004 Jeep Liberty has fallen out of gear. Previously I was on the highway doing about 60 mph and the car switched from drive to neutral on its own. Today the most recent incident I was leaving wawa to get coffee and on my way to work, at the red light the car was in drive, foot on brake as one would normally do. When the light switched to green I lightly tapped the accelerator/gas pedal and the car sat there for a moment without moving again as if it was in neutral. So I pressed the gas pedal again only this time the car started to reverse, as the gear shift clearly showed that I was again in drive. This is very dangerous, thank god both times this has occurred that no other vehicle was behind me or else they may have been a fatal accident especially when I was on the highway. I have read online numerous accounts where this has happened to other Jeep owners I am very dissatisfied that it seems there was no recall with this issue as far as my research shows. I do hope that some one sincerely takes the time to look over the data and any other occurrences of this issue.

2004 Jeep Liberty. 3 failed window regulators/ motors. Many complaints for same issue on other years. Recalls issued but not for 2004 despite many complaints.

I had my vehicle serviced at ewald Chrysler Jeep Dodge llc in franklin wis to address safety recall n46/NHTSA 13v-252. My vehicle originally came with the tow package and a factory installed hitch. According to the recall notice I received the factory hitch would be inspected and the two most rearward mounting bolts would be replaced. The dealer did not replace the bolts and said that would only be done "if necessary". As the recall notice states that the bolts would be replaced and says nothing regarding "if necessary" I am wondering if this recall was performed adequately.

All problems happened on city streets no more than 15/20 miles per hour, I cannot imagine what would've happened on the freeway. 1) since October (do not recall date) the fishtailing has happened 2 times like it was on ice. 2) once slid to the left almost 1/2 circle; 3) spinning and not advancing/going forward has happened many times even before the first fishtailing incident (for a few years now) and it happens going up a hill or when trying to go forward after stopping on stop/light, the tires spins.

The swing gate fails to open, the window will pop up but the gate will not release at all. The swing gate only allows for a keyless entry. Would this fall under recall no. D09? I have read that many other Jeep Liberty owners online experiencing the same issue, when I tried to researching for a fix. Periodically prior to this gate would pop up on dash display. There is concern that motor controlling this may malfunction and come open on it's own.

I received two safety recall notices for my car. My Chrysler dealer will not make the safety fix. The dealer claims they do not receive enough trailer hitches for all the cars needing the safety fix. Why bother sending me a notice to have my car made safe when Chrysler will not make there cars safe? I am do not think Chrysler or you really care about people's safety. It seems Chrysler and you just talk and no action because. . . My guess. . . This inaction saves many people a lot of money. The sad part of the whole thing no one cares.

It has been many months since I received a recall which was supposed to be remedied by installing a hitch. (gas tank is at risk of rupture) my dealer salerno duane in summit, NJ claims that Chrysler has not sent the part. I have inquired several times and I get the same story. I realize it is an old car however I am getting the impression that the longer Chrysler keeps stalling making repairs the less of these cars there will be to repair! since this is so dangerous I think they ought to be encouraged more strongly to do the right thing.

Rear passenger window failed during thunder storm and fell into door, online resarch indicates this is a common problem with this car.

During a routine oil change it was noted that the suspension and oil pan were excessively rusted.
