Power both rear window regulators malfunction and in same month failed for 2006 Jeep Liberty sport utility 4wd 4-dr windows failed down while driving , with occupants. It was scary because my family started screaming . And got my attention off of my driving try and get off highway asp to see what happen I had to prop-up window on one then the other did the same about two weeks later. And it was winter very cold going down the road. The glass could have broken and my family could have got cut from glass or sick from cold. This product failed on two windows . The window regulators are defected . And should be recalled it has not been the confirmed by a dealer. All they wanted was to sell me parts . There was no other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure.
Uncontrolled acceleration. While at a full stop at a red light with my foot on the brake, the engine started to accelerate and the car started jumping as the rear tires 'burned rubber'. Pressing harder on the brake did not help. I put the car into neutral and then the engine went back to idle. This is the third instance of this in 5 years (the first was approx 1/16/09 in nyc, then again on 2/6/12 in nm, and then this one on 10/20/14 in NY. The first time I was at a busy crosswalk by a school. There could have been many injuries. Each time the vehicle was at a full stop, the engine at idle and my foot on the brakes when the engine suddenly started accelerating wildly.
1) as spring arrived I rolled down the windows and there is a noise which sounds like card board flapping as wheel turns. 2) during the winter while driving slow over speed bumps it sounded like rusty springs. 3) another on/off problem - when I park; and turn key to off it pass off position to acc position.
Have been waiting to have recall completed on my Jeep Liberty 2006 for trailer hitch since last summer, still my dealer tells me Chrysler has not supplied the parts. This ridiculous! I recently got another recall notice advising to contact my dealer, which I did, still no parts and have no idea when they will be in, and are unwilling to contact me when parts arrive.
Could not remove key from ignition. Mechanic discovered cable from shifter to ignition broken. Mechanic also discovered piece within shifter broken that allowed shifter to move in and out of park without depressing brake.
I kept hearing this noise on right side. . . . Window went down and wont come back up. . It was like a popping sound.
While driving along the interstate at 65mph the passenger side back window made a pop sound and fell into the door, making a loud bang. Amazed the window did not break. This is the second time a window has failed in this vehicle. The driver's side was replaced two years ago and the passenger side front sounds like it is about to go at any time. It is making whining noises when activated and moves very slow.
We purchased a used 2006 Jeep Liberty last year. Last night we went to drive it up the road and the right front passenger side tire disengaged from the steering knuckle and the ball joint disconnected. Luckily enough we weren't driving very fast otherwise it could have caused injury considering the tire is now almost at a 90 degree angle and we can't move the car. I understand the statute of limitations is 8 years after the original purchase date, I would like to know if I can get a manufacturer repair done free of charge, and would rather have it done at a dealer knowing they would have the correct parts. Normally my 1 year old is in the car, luckily he wasn't last night, but would like to know if I am entitled to repairs.
The vehicle shift assembly for these model of Jeeps fails to operate correctly. The cable will not set in the proper position when shifted back into park, disabling the owner's ability to remove their key from the ignition. The only solution is to remove the cover covering the shift assembly and forcefully push the cable into place to release the key. In addition to this, the shift handle can be bumped and shifted into gears, or into reverse or park, without the brake being pushed as would normally operate the assembly. This causes the risk of accidentally bumping the vehicle into a gear that could cause an accident and risk the driver's life.
I was sitting in a parking lot and my back passenger side window fell down. I didn't hit any of the buttons, it just fell. I took it to get looked at and they told me that the window regulator went bad again. This has happened multiple times and I believe it is crazy that this part isn't apart of the recall. The place didn't have any in stock (seems to be a problem probably because it has happened so many times to countless customers), so basically I was charged 110$ for them to look at and tell me what is wrong while me knowing it was either that or the lift plate. Dont think I have been more frustrated in my life.
I pulled up to a stop at an intersection. The passenger lowered the passenger front-side window using the electrical button. The window fell into the door and did not come back up when the passenger tried to raise it again. This is the third window this has happened to. Each time the diagnosis was a broken window regulator.
Car was disabled due to defective tab inside steering column. Vehicle would not start. Battery fine. Starter fine. Mechanic found it to be an non-serviceable part within the steering column. Entire column has to be replaced. I have to either wait for a new column to ship and pay a total of $920 parts and labor and tax. Or buy a used one and total cost is $475. This is a defective part that should be recalled. This part cannot be maintained and is not subject to normal wear and tear. This is a safety issue. This is a common problem for this model and can leave drivers and passengers stranded in an unsafe situation.
We never had any problems with the steering on our 2006 Jeep Liberty until we had a severe cold snap (Jeep was bought in FL and now resides in DE) and then all of a sudden it developed a screeching, straining noise in the steering and all around driving. It didn't matter what speed we drove the noise was always there and consistent, whether you turned a corner, put on the brakes, backed up or drove on the road normally almost sounded like the brakes were dragging but we had the brakes changed in April 2013. Took Jeep to our auto repair shop and they diagnosed the vehicle with bad upper and lower ball joints. Don't understand why this would happen all of a sudden but in ended up a very costly repair. Enjoy our Jeep but if there was any recalls for ball joints we were never notified.
This started aprox 3 years ago. When filling the gas tank to full, the pump would kick off and then gas would always spit back and overflow on to the ground (scary) to avoid this, I stopped filling the tank to full and only to 3/4 full and the problem stopped. But now, I can't add fuel without gas shooting back all over the place even when the tank has low fuel. The only way fuel can be added without getting drenched in gas, is to find a pump that you can feather the on/off handle to run slow enough so it's barely adding fuel, then it will not back up. It takes at least 20 minutes at the pump to add 10 gallons of gas. Unfortunately I gave this vehicle to my 20 year old daughter and she is scared to add fuel so I have to do it. Also, I've had to replace the clock spring and the "gas cap" light never shuts off. I took it to the dealer for clock spring issues and the part was not available so she drove it for months with the warning lights on and the part is still not available but the lights have now shut off. . . . The gas cap warning could not be fixed by the dealer so that stays on all the time. But this fueling problem is a serious issue.
The key cannot be removed from the ignition switch. Tried restarting and shutting off vehicle, made sure it was completely in park and even wiggled the key back and forth. The key has been stuck in the ignition ever since. Nothing else is affected by this just cannot remove the key.
Today was the 3rd time my window electrical window mechanism has broke. The first time, Chrysler paid to fix it as it was one of their - hidden - defects that they do not wish to publish. Now they say that they no longer cover the defect as the car is older. If there is a design issue and a known one, should they not have to stand behind their product? now I will have to spend another $250 or more to get it fixed. Jeep needs to stand behind their product.
My windows fall down due to a faulty window regulator. Each window has fallen at least once. My back passenger Jeep window has been fixed twice and fell again last year. Originally I was told my windows were fixed via a recall, but when I called last year and again today in reference to my window falling for a third time, I was told the issue was fixed via an extended warranty, which has since expired. I called the Chrysler/Jeep complaint line today and was told that even though this will be the seventh total time a window on my car will have to be fixed due to the faulty window regulator, I will have to pay to fix the problem out of my own pocket. I understand how an extended warranty works; however, I should not be responsible for fixing something that has already been fixed twice on one window. Not only is this a safety hazzard while driving. Every day I fear someone will gain access to my car and either steal it, or wait until I get in the car and kidnap me or worse. I love my Jeep; however, I will not remain a Jeep owner for much longer. Thousands of people continuously have this issue. Just because someone hasn't died from it yet doesn't mean a recall shouldn't be placed on the car.
There was a recall on my Jeep Liberty issued October of 2013. It is now July 2014 and I still have not received my "follow up" letter. I spoke with my dealer on many occasions and the remedy parts are still not available. The following is an excerpt from the notice sent to me. This is a serious situation and if I am rear ended, my car could explode. Waiting almost 1 year after a recall is unacceptable. "the problem is. . . The fuel tank on your vehicle has a small chance of experiencing a fuel leak during certain types of rear end collisions. Fuel leakage in the presence of an ignition source can result in an underbody fire. What your dealer will do… Chrysler intends to inspect your vehicle and install an original equipment manufacturer (oem) trailer hitch where appropriate, free of charge (parts and labor) to better manage crash forces in low-speed impacts. The parts required for this program are currently not available. Chrysler is making all reasonable efforts to obtain the parts as quickly as possible. Chrysler will contact you again by mail, with a follow-up notice, when the remedy parts are available".
Why is my Jeep on the recall? how do I know it does not have the same problem as all the other Jeep liberties.
The lift plates on all side windows of Jeep Liberty vehicles can be defective. The window will unexpectedly completely drop down. Chrysler corporation accepts the fact there are window defective lift plates. They extended the vehicle warranty to replace the lift plate parts if they fail. To my knowledge Chrysler corporation did not notify owners about the defective parts or the extended warranty. I found this information out when the vehicle was taken in for window repair at the Jeep Chrysler dealership (the faricy boys Chrysler, Jeep) on September 18, 2013. Chrysler knew all the side window parts were defective, but would only replace the window lift plates that were not working on that day. Another side window lift plate on the same vehicle failed on may 30, 2013. When driving the vehicle and a window completely drops down it can startle the driver and is a distraction that could cause an accident. The vehicle was again taken in for repair at the Jeep Chrysler dealership. The dealership said the extended warranty had expired and the cost of repair needed to be paid by the owner. In summary, Chrysler corporation knew the side window lift plates are defective, but would not replace all the defective parts. I am asking the NHTSA to order a mandatory recall and require Chrysler to fix all window lift plates on the Jeep liberties. A defective lift plate can cause the window to unexpectedly drop down and can present driver confusion and a distraction while driving. This can present a dangerous situation to the health and life of americans. Thank you.
Car will not blow out cold air but works for a moment then just hot air. Thought it needed freon but I am being told new compressor is required $700. 00. I spoke to another mechanic who thought the clutch part is the real issue. The car is garage kept and well maintained. Replacing clutch first. I have seen several similar complaints online too. Windows 3 of 4 have dropped.
This is the sixth time one of the windows has gotten stuck all the way down. I have a child, and cannot drive with open windows. Not only am I worried about theft, but I don't want anything flying into the car while driving. It is Saturday, and I won't be able to get in touch with the dealership until Tuesday, due to the memorial day weekend. I will morre than likely have to miss work because I can't drive on the freeway with a window down, and I have to park in an area that is not good.
Key would not release from ignition after parking. Took to dealership. I advised dealership, possible shifter assembly and shift interlock cable problem, per other comments? I just received a call from them and they advised there was a piece broken in steering column and they needed to replace whole steering column. Problem 1 is there is a supposed national back order with an undetermined date of when they will get it in. 2nd issue, is they had no solution on how to get key out of ignition so I could properly secure my Jeep from theft or help with any solution to this other than. . . . Lock and unlock with spare key, since it is key fob that is in the ignition. 3rd issue. . . . . . . . . . . . The cost $1240. 65 with parts and labor. . . . . . . . . . I will be checking this out with other service centers and repair shops to make sure before I consent to any repairs with anyone.
Continued issues with window regulators. This is the forth time the same part has broken. The two rear windows have broken and been fixed 3 times and now the front passenger side window regulator. During all of the incidents we have been driving the vehicle. Jeep knows about this issue and has many many complaints about it. Mopar knows about this issue and has changed material that they part is made out of.
Put the Jeep in park and could not remove key. Had to disconnect cable to remove key, with cable disconnected I was able to shift through gears with car turned off and key out. Hooked cable back up and keys stuck in ignition.
My friend and I just finished having lunch at restaurant. It was snowing really bad, I brushed snow off and I pressed the left passenger button to let window down so that I can see and the window would not come back up. My friend and I got out of the Jeep and pushed window up with our hand. But when I drive it falls down, really bad during the summer time. Driving to work one day and the esp, bas and tcs light all come on. Eventually went off but after 4 mins lights came back on.
The gas tank spews out fuel when you let it fill.
Key stuck in ignition. Tech verified concern. Found shift interlock cable shifter assembly siezed and interlock stretched. Tech accessed and replaced shifter assembly and shift interlock cable.
Driver rear window fell down. Tested and repaired rear window regulator and assembly.
I own a 2006 Jeep Liberty. The rear left window fell. I never received any recall letter stating there was a problem with the windows. April 2013 I came out of work to find my diver side window down. Called the dealership and they informed me that there was only two months before the recall was over. Last year I started having problems with my check engine light coming on. I was told that it could be 1 of 2 things plugs or O2 sensors. I had the plugs and the upper and lower bank O2 sensors done 9 months ago. My check engine light has gone on and off over the last 7 months. I can't afford to do the sensors every time the light goes on. I have had fuel spill problems that started about a month ago. When filling my gas tank the pump doesn't shut off fast enough and there is an overflow of gasoline. Not only is this a fire hazard but with the price of gas its a lot money wasted. Also two weeks ago my Jeep has been losing power while driving.
Has happened three times now on three different windows. While my daughter was driving down the road she would hear a loud pow and a window would fall down into the door frame. Alarming her and scaring her causing her to react in a way that she could have lost control of the vehicle. Both back windows and now her front passenger window has been effected. Looking on the internet I have found that this is a serious issue among Jeep owners. Jeep has yet to place a recall on this defective part (a plastic clip on the window regulators). Jeep did send me to a dealer to have it checked and stated that I would have to pay a deductible of over $100 per window to have it fixed and I'm told the front windows cost even more! this is a defective part from the factory/dealer causing the windows to drop into the door frame at any time as I stated above, when hers done it she could have wrecked from the sound and then the rush of air coming into her vehicle. She had no idea what had happened and if she had been driving at internet speeds, probably would have lost control due to the incident. I urge you to have Jeep fix this issue and not a fix to where it will happen again and again, but a permanent fix!.
2 back window motors don't work.
Rear passenger electric window failed. Slid down, would not close. Repaired. Failed again about the 4th of fifth time it was used.
I have replaced all four window regulators during the past six months, and I'm starting to have problems with both front windows again, which were the most recently replaced at about two - three months ago (less than 50,000 miles) at the dealership. It seems the original window parts were defective, but the dealership's replacements (that I paid for) are much worse. I fear for the safety of myself, my passengers, my vehicle and my belongings with this ongoing issue. And I am angry about the time and expense it continues to cause. The form wouldn't let me complete with the correct required information, but limited my choices to those that did not apply. . . . . Fyi.
Driver side power window stuck midway and I could not open the door, the regulator cable hung up with door latch, had to replace the regulator assembly. Glad I did not have to make an emergency exit.
