1 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2020

I've had lower ball joints, bushing and control arms already replaced once in 2017 and now they are out again. I've been told by mopar that my 2006 Liberty was made 5 weeks after the last one involved in the recall. This is inexcusable. I've had 3 window regulators replaced. This is a fatality waiting to happen if I drive. I started hearing and feeling the ball joints going bad about 2 weeks ago. I hardly have driven it since I work from home now. Can Chrysler see all these complaints about the ball joints and still not add these 06 Jeep's to that recall. This is not good business at all. Also just had front brakes done 1 year ago and they need replaced already. Ignition - my key will not come out of the ignition unless I push on the ignition cable. Please help me to get these problems fixed. This is unacceptable from Chrysler.

2 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/20/2020

Parking brake backing plates have come loose and the parking brake shoes are dragging and wearing out too fast.

3 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/03/2018

While applying brake & shifting to reverse, car accelerated in reverse at high speed with no throttle engaged. Brake was pressed the whole time and pumped to stop vehicle, there was no braking. A pole was impacted crushing vehicle. No warnings of this issue. This has left the family in fear of ever driving a Jeep. This was a Jeep Liberty 2006 with less than 70k miles. Well kept maintained vehicle.

4 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/06/2018

The contact owns a 2006 Jeep Liberty. While driving unknown speeds, the brake pedal was depressed and a grinding sound was heard. In addition, the abs, esp, and anti-skid warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (lakeshore Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram fiat, 330 e howze beach rd, slidell, la 70461), but the failure could not be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and informed the contact that the vehicle was not under warranty. The failure mileage was 240,000.

5 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/10/2017

My anti skid, abs, and esp lights are on. The cruise control is not working. Also, at about 50 mph, my front end acts up. I am told that this is a known problem with the clock spring.

6 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/25/2016

Parking break mounting plate attachments have sheared separating the the parking break assembly from the axel housing rendering the break useless on both sides of the vehicle. Cause of failure unknown but the issue appears systematic with the vehicle and is not easily repaired.

7 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/10/2015

Abs system goes out which in turn makes the cruise control go out. Then when you use the vehicle again the abs is on so is the cruise control but the brakes don't work well and grab. Then when you are using the lights at night it dims for no reason inside and out. Still waiting on the fix for the rear end fuel tank issue.

8 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/02/2015

Abs, bas/esp, tcs indicator lights illuminate, vehicle loses power, brakes are applied ( most likely right front as car pulls to right) releasing throttle cancels the braking. As throttle is reapplied same action is repeated. So far it has only occurred at speeds< 35 mph. Should it occur in slippery road conditions it most likely result in loss of control. In researching the problem on the internet, it seems to be or is becoming a more common occurence which fca is not addressing. If you read the other complaint of the same problem it dates back a few years, yet there doesn't seem to be anything done to correct it. Some complainants say they have been unable to have it corrected even at Jeep dealerships, others report it's something called the clock spring that is causing the problem and the parts to repair it aren't available. Having just recently had fca's gas tank solution corrected, I hope a fix for this won't take as long. I neglected to say this was not a one-time event in as much as it happens now on an almost daily basis. A local shop checked for fault codes but there were none in memory; I have it scheduled for further tests 09/16/2015.

9 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/25/2015

The pain on the outside roof is peeling, I do live in a state where the roads are salted however, there is no salt used on the top of the vehicle, this, while not a new vehicle should not be peeling the way it is. The front windshield had a severe chip & the installer was barely able to sand this area down enough to be able to seal the windshield. I have done some research & this is a very common problem along with the rear window regulators both of which have had to be replaced. There are problems with the emergency break & the Jeep dealership gives one reason for the abs, esp among other wheel and breaking issues. And now the one thing that Jeep is finally supposed to be doing something about rather than me having to put more money into this vehicle for, the gas tank recall seems to be a ridiculous fix, and I have been on a waiting list for this for months and still have not been able to get it in to get this fixed. I saw a news story that said that Chrysler was being mandated to fix these very poorly made vehicles. I would like to know how this particular vehicle does not fall into the other recalls when it has been having the same issues. I have been having breaking system issues as long back as 13 months after I purchased this vehicle.

10 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/11/2015

The contact owned a 2006 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated that the gear shift would not engage into drive and the vehicle started making a roaring noise. The contact's vehicle lunged forward and struck the preceding vehicle. The brakes seized and the pedal was all the way down to the floor. The police filed a report. There were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to an impound lot. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 137,000.

11 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2014

The clock spring on this 2006 Jeep Liberty has been broken for more than two years. This has disabled the abs system, vehicle stability program and the driver's airbag. This is a known problem to Jeep and they are doing nothing about it. They just continue to say the part is on back order. This is unsafe and someone must force a mandatory immediate solution in the last 2 months alone since may 2015 the backorder has grown from 500+ to 700+ and now Chrysler won't even return my call.

12 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2014

2006 Jeep Liberty. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle front end alignment and brake problems. The consumer stated the vehicle pulled to the left at times, with or without the cruise control on. Also, the cruise control would not disengage, when he tapped the brake.

14 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/30/2010

Abs/esp electronic stability control problem. Vehicles started braking causing uncontrollable swerving on highway, which my newborn twins in the back seat. This seems to be a big issue with Jeep. Vehicle will brake hard on a tire while traveling at highway speeds thinking that there is tire traction slippage.

15 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/16/2010

My wife drove into driveway I noted left rear wheel, smoking, when approached, could feel heat, because of relation two gas tank ,sprayed wheel with water hose, with steam coming from wheel, took vehicle two Dodge /Jeep dealership, paris ,texas next day they kept vehicle three days, after ordering parts out of dallas, took vehicle home next week same problem, same time in shop, following week same problem, this time I requested Chrysler be notified as I was afraid of a fire, a week later and after over$ 800. 00 in cost ,no more problems, vehicle 2006 Jeep Liberty don,t know what repairs was made ? what parts was replaced? I do not think they knew what the problem was as they ask permission to drive vehicle home at night ,to assist with diagnosis of problem, never explained to me what was wrong.

16 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/10/2010

Replaced 3 windows that would not stay closed (common problem) . Went to dealer for an oil change found out that all 5 (or 6) break hoses were about to burst and car was unsafe to drive. No fault of my own but Jeep has "no idea" how it happened! kept my car for 4 weeks! now the key gets stuck in the ignition every time I turn off the car! car's a lemon!!!.

17 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/03/2009

Intermittent problem with abs/electronic stability system setting warning lights on dash and disabling abs/esp. Warning lights illuminate, and turn off randomly. Malfunction has now lead to failure of abs, causing loss of vehicle control while braking. Abs cycled without need, and improperly, causing uneven braking and violent, uncontrolled swerving of vehicle. Required removal of abs pump fuse to make vehicle drivable again. This occurred under normal braking from ~45mph to a red light. Had this occurred at freeway speeds, or under an emergency stop, there would have almost certainly been an accident. Owner forums report this as a common problem.

18 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/25/2009

I purchased a 2006 Jeep Liberty sport and I have been having a problem lately with the brakes as if they will not stop, it has a toggling feel under your foot when you press the brakes to come to a complete stop as if it will give way and not stop, I've been told before I got on line that it may be the abs, or the anti brakes, but I called the Jeep dealer ship and he said that they do not have a recall on my vehicle going by the last eight digits of my serial number, I do not feel safe driving this vehicle and I would like for them to do something about it or at least check it. Before they will check it, I will have to pay them. I read the recall information and I am having the same problem with my 2006 Jeep Liberty sport and he can say that my Jeep is not on recall what's up with that. Do I have to be killed in this vehicle for them to even check it. Or injure someone else because they don't want to do their job. I will be taking my Jeep to e-Ford in florence SC to be checked at my expense which I feel is not right. But I care more about my life than they do I guess.

19 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/20/2009

The consumer was driving when the vehicle suddenly accelerated to 65 mph. No amount of pushing on the brakes made the car stop. She was going down a mountain, whizzed past a stop sign, and went around another curve until she came to a major state road with lots of speeding cars. She had to make a decision either to try to merge onto the road or plow into the mountain. She plowed into the mountain and came to a stop where she hit a stop sign at the end of the road inches from the ongoing traffic. Both of her feet were on the brakes the entire time. The vehicle flipped on its side and the engine was still roaring.

20 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/17/2008

This is my third complaint for the same on -going problem. The abs/bas, esp lamp will come on when going 45-50 mph or medium acceleration. At various time the engine will lose power. Jeep Liberty has been taken back three times to dealer. They said they are unable to dupilcate problem as the problem must ne active. The codes are present, but not active. I've written Chrysler/Jeep with not help or assistance. Vehicle is still under factory warranty.

21 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/09/2008

This is my second time in the last two weeks for the same problem. My last complaint was the abs/bas, esp lamp coming on. My 2006 Jeep Liberty was at the dealership for 1-1/2 weeks. The dealer says the codes are stored, but they must be active to locate the problem. The day after picking up my Jeep Liberty, I was driving on the vehicle on the highway at 45-50 mph, the same lamps came on. Now I afraid to drive the vehicle for fear of the brake system. My vehicle only has 24,888. I recently wrote to Chrysler to complain.

22 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/02/2008

The contact owns a 2006 Jeep Liberty. The contact took his vehicle to the dealer for general maintenance and was informed that all four brakes needed to be replaced. It would cost $493 to repair the brakes. Nhtsa campaign id number 06v493000 (service brakes, hydraulic:antilock:control unit/module) was referenced. The current and failure mileages were 15,000. Updated 06/25/08 the consumer stated the abs, traction control, osp, bsp warning lights had illuminted on the dashboard. The tire pressure warning light illuminatd. It was discovered the right front tire had low tire pressure. Updated.

23 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/14/2008

Dealership stated there was nothing wrong with my front abs brakes. Still after 14,746 miles give or take a few my brakes still have periodic pulsation. I should of wrote this complaint 14,746 miles ago my vehicle now has 49,175 I bought it 34,429 thank god for extended warranties because otherwise I would have no windows because after buying a $16,000 vehicle I could not afford to replace all the window regulators that broke OH and I had to have a fuel pump module replaced it did not fix the problem my main concern on this heap im mean Jeep are the breaks front and rear and that Chrysler Jeep will not be held accountable for these problems until a person has died. There are many other problems cosmetic problems like the interior and heater vents. But not life threatening. I also have many concerns with the electrical system but again the dealer crown motors of redding California states that they cant manifest it they cant fix it every time I get my Jeep back from them it runs worse that it did prior.

24 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/03/2007

Safety defect 1) my wife was driving in the rain and went to the mall. Just after she left the mall, the 2) dashboard lights for abs, electronic stability control, and traction control came on and stayed lit. Within a mile or so, my wife had spun across 3 lanes of interstate traffic and into the guardrail while attempting to enter interstate. 3) at this point the Jeep Liberty has been towed to a body shop. Nothing to repair failure has yet been attempted.

25 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2007

The contact owns a 2006 Jeep Liberty 4x4. The contact stated that the brake pedal went directly to the floor when he depressed the pedal. When he depressed the brake pedal while the vehicle was in drive, the brake pedal went to the floor as well. The dealer stated that this is a common issue with a diesel motored vehicle and he was issued reference number 16527339. The current mileage is 23,470 and failure mileage was 22,000.
