2 Front Suspension Control Arm problem

Failure Date: 12/08/2020

12/8/2020: my daughter had just returned home from college literally that morning driving through nyc to DE. That afternoon she went out to see a friend and thought she had a flat tire while driving at about 50 mph and struggled to pull over. It was at night so we couldn't see the damage. We called aaa to come change the tire. He examined the fluid under the tire and then it was obvious that tire rod fell and punctured the tire. We could also see a long black trail where the tire rod dragged on the road before she could stop. The tow truck driver said if she didn't stop when she did she would have fell into the deep ditch next to it and it would have flipped over. Considering it was dark she was lucky and even luckier this didn't happen on the highway in nyc only a few hours earlier. But what was even more disturbing is the front upper and lower control arms were just replace the rear lower control arms due to corrosion was done at the dealer, along with an alignment. (NHTSA campaign number: 18v278000). It's clear that the recall should also include replacing the front control arms. The window regulator also failed the week before.

3 Front Suspension Control Arm problem

Failure Date: 12/24/2019

Vehicle was driving normally and was in motion going straight leaving a parking lot and the front suspension lower control arm just broke without warning due to corrosion. The right side of the control arm landed onto the wheel making it so the right front wheel could no longer turn. I'm glad it happened to me in a parking lot and not on the highway or I could have been seriously injured.

6 Front Suspension Control Arm problem

Failure Date: 08/21/2018

I contacted south point Dodge in austin, TX 2 months ago about replacing the rear control arms due to a recall. They scheduled an appointment for them to replace the part. When I arrived, they told me no one had ordered the part and that they could not provide service. I confirmed with the manager that they would order the part and call me back when they could replace it. I have not heard back in 2 months. I called today and they have not ordered the part. I asked them again to order the part, but now they are on backorder. I am concerned the rear control arm will fail while I am driving. I have done everything I can to get it replaced, but the dealership is not putting any importance on the recall. Here is their contact information: 5210 s ih 35 frontage rd, austin, TX 78745 (512) 443-9333.

7 Front Suspension Control Arm problem

Failure Date: 08/03/2018

A scrubbing/squeaking noise started on the left front tire of my 2007 Jeep Liberty. I took the car to my mechanic and it was diagnosed as being the control arms on the front of the vehicle. Then the recall came out for the rear control arms. I took the car into the dealership to have the rear repaired and was also told by the dealership that the front needed to be replaced. While leaving my car for repair another Liberty came in with the left front wheel assembly separated from the car. The control arm had fractured/broke. If faulty parts were used on the rear it would seem that the same manufacturer would be used to supply the front parts. The dealership also explained that they had several of the same model come in with the front control arm problems.

8 Front Suspension Control Arm problem

Failure Date: 07/24/2018

I took our vehicle to crown Dodge, ventura CA. To satisfy the trailer hitch recall. I also wanted to satisfy NHTSA recall #18v-278 (rear lower control arms). The parts weren't available at the time and I was told they would contact me within 2 weeks to reschedule the repair. They never contacted me. We have moved since and there are no dealers near me to conduct the safety repair. How can I get this repair completed without having to drive too far? the vehicle may not be safe to drive. Please advise.

9 Front Suspension Control Arm problem

Failure Date: 03/16/2018

Driving down the highway and suddenly I had little steering control and it felt like I blew a tire. Pulled to the side of the highway, and saw that my tire was blown and my rim was damaged because the ball joint snapped and the control arm went through the rim. This was on the front drivers side and happeneded about 3 months ago. A similar thing happened today but it affected the front passenger side.

10 Front Suspension Control Arm problem

Failure Date: 08/17/2017

The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Liberty. While driving 35 mph, the entire front passenger side control arm fractured. The vehicle was towed to the dealer (pars cars, located at 6823 mt zion blvd, morrow, GA 30260; (770) 357-6000) who stated that the frame was bent and nothing could be done. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 71,000.

11 Front Suspension Control Arm problem

Failure Date: 09/29/2016

While backing out of a parking spot, (literally moved maybe 2 inches) the lower front control arm and ball joint on the passenger side broke suddenly. From what I have found during my research there have been a number of issues with this same part failing within the last year. More so, there was a recall of the rear control arm/ball joint and the front was recalled on the 2005 models in 2006. There is clearly an issue with the control arms in 2005-2007 Liberty models. It is my belief that the front control arms should be recalled. The failing part appears to have caused damage to the tire as well as the tire appears to have been leaning inward and rubbing along something along the interior, underside of the wheel well. It is a good thing that the vehicle was not traveling at any significant rate of speed or there could have been significant damage or death.

12 Front Suspension Control Arm problem

Failure Date: 01/06/2016

Rear upper control arm is all rusted creating safety hazard. Jeep has recalled lower control arm on this model but will do nothing for upper arm rust factor. Recall valid only for cars in areas where roads heavily salted in winter. We are in north east. Service looked at it 1/6/16.

13 Front Suspension Control Arm problem

Failure Date: 02/13/2015

Right front of 2007 Jeep Liberty fell to the ground just after moving forward in a parking lot. Wheel bent out and all fluids released to the ground. If this had happened a few minutes later would have been driving on the interstate at approximately 65 mph. The vehicle would not move when pushed, so most likely at that speed it would have flipped over carrying a mother and child. Jeep had recalls for this problem through 2005. There are many complaints on this exact issue on the 2007. Jeep refused to assist in any way. The manager stated that it was not under warranty. Parts needed for repair: control arm, ball joint and wheel which was cracked when the incident occurred. 1231. 00. Jeep needs to step up and cover/reimburse for safety issues that are known issues on their vehicles. No good faith for safety from Jeep. Recall these parts before people get killed.

14 Front Suspension Control Arm problem

Failure Date: 11/03/2014

My 2007 Jeep Liberty was parked over night and when I started to drive away I felt the car resisting. After an inspection I realized that my front passenger tire was tipped inward . Had a wrecker take it to my auto dealer where it was determined to be the upper control arms. Had to replace these and have an alignment. I only have 52658 miles on the vehicle. I am the only owner and have maintained it very well. I do not do off road driving . The only thing is that it is exposed to a lot of salt. I feel the recall on the rear suspension #91164 should also cover the front. Had I been driving on the highway when this happened I could have been seriously injured or killed. I have reported this incident to daimler Chrysler.

15 Front Suspension Control Arm problem

Failure Date: 10/20/2013

The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated that while driving approximately 20 mph, she crashed into two parked cars. The police reported to the scene and a report was filed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 108,000.

16 Front Suspension Control Arm problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2013

I had the 2012 lower control arm recall repair done, now I had corroded upper arm repair needed but Chrysler will not assist with the cost of repair even though its the same type of problem in the same area as the recall. Also, I now have to get the entire rear end suspension replaced. Jeep clearly needs to recall these vehicles or assist us somehow in states that use road salt, as they have sold us subpar vehicles with huge safety issues.
