8 Front Suspension Lower Ball Joint problem

Failure Date: 07/19/2015

I've been aware of an issue with my front lower ball joints for several months now but today, I made a right turn today and the ball joint broke altogether. I've been doing some research when it comes recalls of this nature and I know 2006 Jeep Liberty's have/had a recall in place for this very issue. I'm wondering if the recall should be expanded to include the 2007 model year as well?.

Failure Date: 07/08/2013

The front lower ball joint separated in the main of the street while driving. I took it to the authorized dealer in san juan pr. I am still waiting information related to this incident. I read that Liberty 2002 - 2006 had a ball joint recall. I don't see Liberty 2007 included in the recall. I highly recommended to investigate this case.

12 Front Suspension Lower Ball Joint problem

Failure Date: 04/05/2012

I was driving to work on the 101 (a major l. A. Freeway) and all of the sudden felt my car collapse onto the passenger tire. I struggled to remain in my line, and had tremendous difficulty steering and wasn't able to brake as easily. I flew across three lanes of rush hour traffic and almost hit a wall. When I exited my vehicle I found that my lower ball joint had broken, causing my tire to explode.

13 Front Suspension Lower Ball Joint problem

Failure Date: 02/17/2008

I was driving along in my 2007 Jeep Liberty at 34 m. P. H. When all of a sudden there was a horrible noise and the right side of my car fell to the ground. I tried to steer safely off the road and found the car almost impossible to steer and I was heading into on-coming traffic. I could have been injured or killed and I had two passengers in my car who witnessed the sudden failure of my brand new 8 month old car! it appears that my lower right ball joint fell out and broke my car to the point my tire came off my rim as my rim broke when the car fell to the ground. There is so much front end damage that my car is now totaled and I am out a new vehicle. The local dealer will not acknowledge there is a problem as they say the 2007 was not part of the massive recall on other Liberty's with the same problem. I've asked my insurance company for an investigation and I've e-mailed the Jeep corporation with the same request, before someone else gets hurt or worse! someone needs to step up here and investigate these cars, they are not safe and now I'm left with no car and trying to settle with my insurance company. I'm just glad that I was not on the highway, as my car is totaled from 34 m. P. H. , I can't imagine what would have happened had I been on the highway. I'm also thankful my daughter was not in the car at the time - please help get these cars off the road!!.

14 Front Suspension Lower Ball Joint problem

Failure Date: 08/13/2007

Beware if you or yours is driving a well-maintained Jeep Liberty. My son could lost control and could have been killed if he was traveling at a highway speed in a 2003 Jeep Liberty when the upper ball joint suspension failed on his vehicle. After a recent recall and replacement of the lower ball joints of my son's 2003 Jeep Liberty, the upper ball joint which is of similar design and manufacturer broke while driving at 25 mph on local road on passenger side causing wheel to detach. Per website postings joint is sealed and thus cannot be maintained or lubricated. A Chrysler representative said that it stands behind its parts products but refuses to address $900 repair or towing as it is not subject to recall or warranty. Vehicle was not used for off-roading or aggressive driving. I have kept the parts. Am thankful that son is ok but have received no satisfaction from Chrysler or dealer where vehicle has been maintained. Owners should be notified so that they can have their vehicles inspected to avert this same failure although recent inspection of lower ball joints that were subject to recall did not prevent the upper ball joint failure in our case.
