36 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2006 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 06/30/2011

This will be the fourth year that I have had to replace the rear driver side window mechanism in my 2006 Jeep Liberty. Each year, the mechanism has failed while my vehicle was parked and not running (August 2007, June 2009, July 2010, June 2011). I have been told there is a recall for some models of Jeep's to fix this problem but not for my VIN group. I feel this is a safety issue as I cannot secure my vehicle while I am away and someone would be able to get into my vehicle and could be waiting for me to come back. Also, the integrity of the interior is compromised if an accident would occur due to the window not being up. The window mechanism has been replaced each year but with the same part. No modifications have been done to help ensure this problem will not happen again. I have called Jeep customer service and was told to use this website to lodge my complaint. My local dealerships have been very helpful with resolving this problem each year.

38 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2002 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 06/10/2011

I was driving my 2002 Jeep Liberty and was raising the windows up and the window of the back passenger side fell into the door. These are electronic windows. I was lucky that none of my children were hurt. Luckily, the window did not break and I was able to open the door. This is the third time that this has happened in my car. I feel there is a faulty part that Jeep does not want to address. It is a plastic part in the window regulator. It cost me $400 dollars the first time to replace the part. The second one Jeep replaced for free. I just got off the phone and Jeep does not feel responsible for replacing it again. I am not sure if I want to get it replaced again or just fine some way to keep the window up. I am very frustrated because I do not want to replace it with a part that will just break again.

39 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2004 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 06/07/2011

I have a 2004 Jeep Liberty. On June 7, 2011 the passenger rear window just fell down inside the door. Our extended warranty doesn't cover replacing window regulators. That cost $300 to repair. Then, on June 27, 2011 the passenger front window just fell down inside the door. It is in the repair shop and it will cost another $300 to be repaired. The driver side window regulator is also about to break. When I put the window down the whole inside door panel expands and the repair shop said it's about to break. I think its a big safety hazard if my windows just fall down inside the door especially when I'm driving and have small children in the car and weather conditions. Also, when the window falls inside the door it makes a loud noise which is a distraction from the driver. There needs to be a recall because my repair guy said that these regulators have to be replaced quite often at $300 a pop!!! I am not a satisfied customer what so ever.

42 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2007 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 05/20/2011

I have a 2007 Jeep Liberty and @ 44,000 miles I had to have the compressor replaced, the auto shop stated that the wires burned out and this stop the compressor working, I asked how this could have been prevented and the mechanic stated that this could have not been avoided due to the way Jeep has the compressor housed. This cost me over $1,000. 00.

43 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2009 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 05/18/2011

Car would not start. Called aaa who made several attempts to start car but all failed. Tow driver said he thought key was problem since all electrical was fine. Said he had approx six incidents in recent months with Jeep/Chrysler and all were due to key failure. I was towed from jfk airport to Jeep dealer in wantagh. It was determined key **deprogrammed** and so failed. I asked if there was any indication this failure was going to happen and they said no. They replaced one key under warranty and charged me 206. 00 for second key. I wrote to Jeep/Chrysler for reimbursement and was denied. A failure like this could cause serious issues .

44 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2005 Jeep Liberty

We have a 2005 Jeep Liberty that we purchased new. Since that point the rear windows have spontaneously fallen down five times. 3 time the windows were replace under warranty, the last two times Jeep has refused to cover the repair since the vehicle is out of warranty. The repair cost is approx $400 each time and they replace the broken part with the same faulty part that breaks again.

45 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2002 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 05/07/2011

Rear back passenger window was fixed(regulator) 2 yrs. Ago. Now same problem has reoccured, I called the Jeep recall number and they tell me there is no recall for the 2002 Jeep Liberty, I think that is negligence on their part as a auto company not respecting that this is a widespread problem, I am 1 out of thousands of people with the same exact problem. With the window going down at any given time it poses a problem for the glass to shatter creating a problem for whomever is in the back seat. I am very upset that the dealership won't acknowledge this problem, I need them to understand it is a mechanical fault of theirs.

46 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2005 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 05/02/2011

I've had multiple window regulator failures (leaving my car open to theft and damage), seat belt broken, and air condition compressor, and rear axel problems. All issues happened shortly after the warranty expired.

47 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2004 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 04/10/2011

While driving down the highway, the rear driver-side window began to open of its own accord. Trying to stop the window from lowering further using the control button on the console did nothing but make a terrible grinding noise inside the door. Within five miles of driving, the window glass had disappeared into the door panel. This has happened twice now. The first time was a year ago, mid-April 2010, also while driving on the highway. This year it happened to the same window again, mid-April 2011, which means the replacement parts failed, too. The wind in the car was awful, not to mention the cold! it certainly made for a noisy, freezing, and uncomfortable drive. When I arrived at my destination, I had absolutely no way to close up my car, since the window glass had disappeared into the door. I was very afraid someone would steal my car.

49 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2004 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 03/24/2011

2004 Jeep Liberty columbia 4x4 3. 7 engine. The key will not turn in the ignition to start the car. Saw no steering column choice on the components list so I chose other. I have seen on the internet that there are 100's if not thousands of people with the same problem.

50 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2006 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 03/24/2011

My mother bought a used 2006 Jeep Liberty has never had a problem,so in March of 2010 me and my husband decided to purchase a used 2006 Jeep Liberty from a trusty car dealer. Within 2 months of having this Jeep our right rear window dropped into the door as we were driving to a family function. My biggest fear was that 1 of our 3 kids could have been hurt by broken glass. My father repaired the window by wedging a piece of wood between the door and the window. I later called Jeep who told me there was no recall on this Jeep and that they would gladly split the cost with me which only cost $600 per window and they won't warranty because they know it will happen again. I left it alone cause we could not afford this at the time. A few months later in November 2010 the left side rear window slipped, once again my father repaired it at best he could. I finally went online to see what I could do repair the problem myself at a cheaper cost. I came across a web site steigers. Com the gentleman who owns this company has created a replacement peice for the broken part and it works great. I replaced it myself with no knowledge of repairing cars. The only hard part was working in such a tight space. . Thank god my hands are small enough to squeeze in between the door and the window area. The part is about a $100 with shipping and handling and so far seems to have solved the problem it took about an hour to do all the work on 1 window. Thats not our only problem with this lovely vechile we have also had problems with the fuel spilling out when filling the tank. The tank seems to build pressure or catch air. I dont know all I know is it scared me really bad the first time. And we have also had problems with the esp especially when you hit a turn to hard or hit a big bump. How wonderful a 4x4 vechile who doesnt like big turns, bumps or snow. And the most expensive part is the broken window. . They told me its called a binding crack it happens to all Jeeps so dont force your Jeep to do its job. . And work.

At 43305 miles, I had to replace the main bearing oil seal. The cost was $556. 91. At this low mileage, this seal should not fail.

54 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2007 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 02/06/2011

Jeep Liberty: due to a disability, I cannot reach snow on roof to clear. Driiving about 35 mph, braking to slow down for stop sign, all the heavy snow on roof slid forward, completely covered windshield. I was a blind driver for at least 100 feet. No one in front of me this time, thank god. Had to stop in middle of a busy road to clear windshield. Never had this happen with any car I have ever owned. I am 62 and owned a lot of cars. I am so upset, I may sell this car, I am afraid to drive it with snow on roof. Contacted dealer, he said clean the snow off the roof. I am disabled, I told him. He did not do anything, offer advice, etc. Have you had any complaints like this?.

55 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2004 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 01/21/2011

Normal use of the vehicle. Normal use of the power windows. No bumps, accidents, rough driving, inclement conditions, rough terrain, unusual external force applied or anything that would constitute replacing the third power window regulator in approximately 2. 5 years. I've fortunately only had to replace the right side of the vehicle's window regulators. Both the front and the rear have gone out, the rear twice in the past 2. 5 years. Jeep has apparently only acknowledged the issue because of the part number revision of the part 6 times since 2004. It would be great to have this problem fixed once and for all and to have all the regulators replace by an authorized dealer with a part that can be guaranteed for the life of the vehicle. I don't want money since this hasn't cause and personal or property damage but I would not like to pay hundreds of dollars every 6-9 months to replace a part that technically should last 5 times as long as it does.

56 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2003 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 01/20/2011

Control mechanism for the right rear electric window broke and window fell down. Would not roll up. Mechanic said control was broken and that whole control mechanism would have to be replaced as that is the only way that Jeep sell part even though only part of mechanism was broken and electric motor still worked. Very expensive repair for a part that should be sold separately. I have seen other similar complaints. Looks like this is a faulty part on the Jeep Liberty. Car only had 68000 miles even though it is a 2003.

57 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2009 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 01/19/2011

I purchased a new Jeep Liberty 2009 in Jun of 2010 in January of 2011 while attempting to put air in the rear tire the tpms valve stem exploded and shot across the garage. In September of 2011 the tpms valve stem disintegrated while the car was parked in the garage and shot the parts across the garage both of these where replaced by Chrysler under warranty. On may 21st 2012 while travelling on the highway at 65 the tpms valve on the rear tire disintegrated and caused immediate loss of air from the rear tire, causing the vehicle to become unstable, I was able to control it and drive the vehicle to the side of the road. On inspection the valve was completely gone. This valve is being replaced by Chrysler but now as the vehicle is outside of warranty I have to foot the bill. I have driven hundreds of thousands of miles over the last 23 years and have never had any issues with tire valve stems to have 3 such major failures over 2 years and the last one on the highway which could have led to a serious accident. It appears that there is a design flaw with the tpms valves being used by Chrysler on this age of vehicle and from what I have seen on car forums this seems to be the case for many Chrysler group vehicle owners with tpms systems.

58 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2004 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 01/11/2011

My spouse was driving on the highway when the left window fell into the door of our 2004 Jeep Liberty. On further research I became suprised to find hundreds of complaints about the same problem. The costs for repair are nuts and unwarented because of poor design by Chrysler. How is it that the ones to pay for all the mistakes created by manufactures ends up being the consumer. We have done enough for the big corporations it is time to do something for the people. I'm going to recommend to all that I know not to purchase Chrysler products.

59 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2004 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 01/04/2011

I was driving up to kids school to park and parked and tried to take the seat belt off and it was stuck. The red release button was stuck down. I was able to get it released, but the red release button was still stuck down. I tried to re-buckle and nothing worked. I went to the dealership "napletons" and they said that the part was on national back order. I am still waiting.

60 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2006 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 12/27/2010

In July 2009 the left, rear passenger window in my Jeep Liberty fell down by itself. In Dec. 2010 the right rear passenger window in the same vehicle fell down by itself during a snow storm causing approximately 6 inches of snow to accumulate in my vehicle. These are windows that are rarely used. Both the service manager and customer service reps at Chrysler advised me that there is a faulty window regulator in the Jeep vehicles which causes this problem, but no recalls have been made.

61 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2006 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 12/07/2010

The 2006 Jeep Liberty window regulators continue to fail. I have had to repair the driver side window regulator twice, the left window regulator once and the right regulator twice. The first three repairs were covered under warranty, the fourth one I had to request re-imbursement from Jeep which was granted after correspondence with Jeep. The fifth time I am still negotiating with Jeep. They are aware of the issue as there have been many complaints with the same issue.

62 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2004 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 10/30/2010

For right now im duck taping that window from the inside, nothing has been done yet waiting to order and have it fixed, part alone will cost at least $ 150. 00 and then repair cost, ?????.

63 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2003 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 10/21/2010

While driving my 2003 Jeep Liberty sport, I heard a loud and distracting thud, only to discover that the back window on the drivers side had fallen into the door. The door also became jammed and I was unable to open it from either the inside or outside of the vehicle. This happened to the other back widow just 9 months prior to this incident. At that time I took my vehicle to an auto repair shop, and paid to have it fixed. I have read several complaints about this happening in the Jeep Liberty. The issue is a cheap, plastic part used in the window regulator. This is a design flaw, and Chrysler will only replace this part with another cheap plastic part, rather than using a sturdier metal part. This is an expense issue as well as a safety issue. The noise the window makes when it falls is very distracting. All the doors and windows should be functioning properly in case of emergencies, and the driver should be able to control the windows, in order to avoid dangerous debris flying into the car, not to mention having some control over outside elements. (weather) Chrysler really should do a recall, and stop charging Jeep owners to fix what is their fault in the first place-it is a design flaw in the Jeep Liberty. Many reports from Jeep owners mention this happening to the same window, or multiple windows over and over. There ought to be a class action lawsuit against Chrysler.

65 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2002 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 09/08/2010

I am experiencing a rattling sound when driving uphill or downhill through driveway, traveling 5-20 miles an hour. I took my Jeep 2002 Liberty 2wd to get serviced and received recommended repairs: prosteer control arm with ball joint upper center, remove and install propeller shaft to replace universal joints on both ends, rear wheel bearings, tail pipe is welded to muffler, muffler does not meet design specifications and should be replaced due to exhaust leak as well, remove rack and pinion, complete rack as does not meet design specifications and is leaking. I was driving about 25 mph and my rear right side tire was smoking profusely. I pulled over and noticed the gray smoke from my tire. I took the car to check the rear breaks. They were fine but was told that I had a leak from the exhaust pipe which dripped on to that area. The car has 75,806 miles. I was told that I could loose control of vehicle and entire area can collapse during traffic due to these issues. Aside from these issues, I am experiencing a whistling sound, problems with rear drivers side passenger power window regulator which produces grind-like sound. The window came off and I was told that I needed a new regulator for the window. I'm also experiencing a red stain in engine oil drippage on ground. Finally, strange odor from car -odor continues to be present whether I wash the carpets and seats (smells like mold/mildew or skunk).

66 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2007 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 08/10/2010

2007 Jeep Liberty window regulator I have had to replace them at least 6 times and the last time I had the problem the window fell in to the door and almost knocking my child in the face with broken glass I have heard more than just mine doing this. I believe that this is not safe when you have children or my self because it did this while I was driving I have had to replace it so many times that I can not afford to replace this anymore and I can not trade in because I cant afford a new higher car payment b/c the value of the cars has droped because of the window regulator.

67 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2006 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 03/31/2010

On my way home from work. . . With my 1 year old in the back seat. . The rear passenger window fell down and would not go up. My husband took it apart and we discovered that the window regulator had failed. . Luckily it was not raining. . And the window did not break. . I did some research trying to locate a part and you have to replace the whole component which costs an average of $145 instead of the plastic clip that probably costs about $1. 00. It was also brought to my attention that this is a very common problem in Liberty's and I was appalled that even new vehicles were having these problems! in my 10 minute search 20 people reported about having to replace this part several times in more than one window! Chrysler should really change something so this product doesn't fail so often in so many vehicles! some day someone will be injured because of this part malfunctioning. Luckily it was not my son!.

68 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2007 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 03/30/2010

Windows will become stuck in the down position. I have have the front 2 windows fixed already, the driver side twice and the passenger side once. Now, the rear passenger window has become stuck down. I hear the motor turning in the door, but it will not come back up. My child (3 years old) sits in that seat and so it is even more concerning to me.
