One problem related to engine failure has been reported for the 2007 Jeep Patriot. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
After refueling my car, the engine will stutter or stall at the first stop or at leaving the gas station if the vehicle is going less than 40 miles per hours. This has occurred on more than 10 occasions, with the last one beginning at the stoplight before turning on to the freeway. This is a very stressful situation as it could easily cause a crash due to the engine failing unexpectedly.
