Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problems of the 2008 Jeep Patriot

Four problems related to other fuel system tank mounting have been reported for the 2008 Jeep Patriot. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem

Failure Date: 08/05/2017

I can only pump small amounts of gas into my tank before the pump kicks off and I have to start again. Also, when the tank is around 1/8 or less full, the Jeep runs very rough at any speed. When over 1/4 tank of gas, the Jeep runs well.

2 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem

Failure Date: 06/06/2017

When filling gas tank, pump turns off after every 1/4 gallon of gas, due to faulty integral gas tank vent valve. Occasionally resulting from over fill and spilling gas onto ground. This is a common problem with this model of Jeep that no amount of maintenance could prevent. Jeep's response to my complaint was to remind me my vehicle was out of warranty, but should I have it repaired [$600 to $1000 for new gas tank and condenser] to save the receipt in case there is a future recall for this problem.

3 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem

Failure Date: 05/31/2017

Everytime wife fills the fuel tank, the engine shuts off. 80% of the time it happens in the intersection leaving the fuel station. She has almost been in numerous accidents because of this problem. She looses power steering as the pump is no longer running because the engine has shut down. Jeep dealer says this is a common safety problem, and that the fuel tank is the culprit. The overflow valve on the fuel tank is faulty. There are numerous complaints with other owners with the same safety issue. This need to be a recall before someone gets killed.

4 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem

Failure Date: 07/29/2016

This has been occurring for the last three years or so. Everytime I fill up the gas tank, with in a couple of blocks of driving away from the gas station the Jeep stops and I loose power steering. I own a 2008 Jeep Patriot and I purchased in 2007. I do not look forward to filliing up the tank, because I know what happens and it does.
