Recently, when trying to start vehicle, all electrical power shut off, open the hood and tap the fuse box, all power comes back on, repeat multiple times until vehicle starts. When driving home down the interstate at night, all power cuts off, engine stops at 70 mph no brakes, no power steering, no brake lights, no headlights and no hazard lights, almost got ran over top of by a semi that couldnt see me stranded in the highway. Finally got it restarted after shaking and tapping fuse box, made it down the road further and all dash lights popped on, dinged and lost the speedometer for a few seconds. Had close encounters like this multiple times lately. Had the battery and alternator checked, all good. Dealership said its not under recall so I would have to pay out of pocket almost 1000 dollars to "fix" it but couldnt guarantee the new fuse box would fix the problem. I like the vehicle but I dont wanna die in it when a semi cant get out of the way when it dies next time.
The contact's son owns a 2016 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. Despite being able to restart the vehicle, the contact stated that the failure would return. Recently, the contact stated that after she experienced the failure and restarted the vehicle, the vehicle began to vibrate with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to several independent mechanics who were all unable to diagnose the cause of the failure. The contact has had several repairs performed on the vehicle; however, each repair failed, and the failure persisted. The dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
I would like to recall my 2016 Jeep Patriot because the crankshaft and camshaft sensor are failing to work properly and that increases the risk of crash. There were also problems with the steering column and the tires being off balance because after balancing was found to move without the steering wheel being turned. The recall is important because the vehicle is potential for crash . I only found these things out after driving and seller claimed everything was at top shape but bent the truth due to the small amount of miles put on the vehicle and the fact that I didn't crash the vehicle.
I am a service contract administrator. I recently received a claim where the contract holders vehicle would stall. The shop stated a recall had been performed by auto nation Chrysler Dodge Jeep in littleton , CO. ( 7980 w tufts Ave , littleton , CO 80123 ) ( 303-578-6099 ) I called over , gave them the VIN , and asked for documentation on the repair. The shop said they would send it over. In the meantime I had the shop the vehicle was currently at send me pictures of the wiring. The repair was poorly done , and auto nation is refusing to rectify their poor workmanship. The service advisor in questions name is scott. He would not return phone calls , and never sent over the requested documentation. My company will take care of the customers repairs. Attached are the pictures of the poor repair. My purpose here is to report poor workmanship , and let you know this dealership is not repairing vehicles to either manufacturer , or federal standards.
It acts like it’s going to stall. It bucks and sputter anytime I accelerate from a stopped position.
The car is engaging the traction control for no reason at a speed of 20 mph attempting to slow down vehicle the car is applying breaks no snow no rain on a dry asphalt road.
I was driving on a 4-lane highway in the passing lane. These indicator warning lights came electronic throttle control, engine, traction control. The car started bucking and slowed down. I was able to move into the non-passing lane and pull into a strip mall parking lot. I shut the car off. I left it off for a couple of minutes. When I turned it back on, all indicator lights were off except for the engine light. I turned the car on and off two more times. The second time, th engine light came back on again. The third time, no lights came on. I drove the car to a repair shop. On the way there, the engine throttle control light came on again and the car started bucking. After approximately one minute, the indicator light went off and the car stopped bucking. I made it to the repair shop without further problems. At the repair shop, they ran diagnostics on the vehicle. They found no current codes but found old codes relating to the electronic throttle control. They stated that without a current code, they could not help me and asked me to pick up the car. They said the next time it happens, I should take the vehicle to a dealership because the problem could be caused by a multitude of items and finding the cause would be a trial and error project.
The vehicle stalled while driving. Lost steering capabilities and had a hard time pulling over. Had to turn key completely off and wait a couple minutes and it turned back on. I was on a busy city street.
The emissions systems stated slippery when wet and the traction for the tires were loose. The tires were installed or balanced wrong causing the tires to slide. When braking the traction caused the car to be driven at low speed to avoid the problems with the steering wheel and the balance between it using the wrong amount of space to turn. It needed it large amount of space because the wheels weren’t aligned correctly. The speed was hesitant to accelerate and was showing signs of defects written in the manufacturers possibly as needed investigation to return it back safely.
Going down the highway attempting to accelerate the car will lose power, the red lightning bolt will flash. Then within seconds the light will cut off the car will gain power and will accelerate.
My car hesitates and will jolt when trying to accelerate as well as stall when I am driving 50+ mph sometimes and completely shut off causing me to have to put it in park, turn it off and turn it back on again while I am in the middle of driving which increases the risk of an accident and I feel extremely unsafe.
When I turn on car a red lighting light kept coming up on dashboard, by my gas meter. Also, it seemed like my car didn't want to speed or it would after and go low velocity. When this light turned on. I looked it up and it's the electronic throttle control I seen a couple of videos on youtube and say it may be a recall from 2011-2017 Jeep Patriots wanted to know if it is and need to fix soon before it gets worse. Please. No money due to covid and recently looking for another job. Can't afford $1200.
I was stopped at a red light after exiting the interstate. The light turned green, I pressed the gas and the car accelerated for a few seconds and the. The wheels quit spinning and the engine light lit up on the dash. I was in the road nearly being missed by other cars and I was only able to get my car out of the road by turning of the car and cranking it back to move a few feet repeatedly until I reached a side road. I had the car towed to a highly rated repair shop and was told an electrical part inside the cvt transmission had failed, this was not due to failure to maintain the vehicle, and this was a design flaw within the cvt transmission. The repair is estimated to be $5194. 28. Estimate is attached.
Water in front dome light suddenly after several months. Dripping down dashboard and cause electrical problems. Stationary vehicle with no leaks in sunroof bought 01/2020. 08/2020 first occurrence, damage to lights on ac and heat controls. Less than 2500 miles driven since bought at a dealership no disclosure at time of purchase.
Same exact issue as safety recall s89 / NHTSA 16v-907 stallles arriving and won't restart.
My vehicle out of nowhere no lights or warnings came on it simply shut off no power couldn't even unlock my doors. Was unable to start again. I jumped it and it started within 10seconds of driving it I thought it died again and realized was still running but it was like I was not pressing the gas rpms were up but no speed when I put in park vehicle motor seemed to be struggling and my check engine light came on. Luckily all of this happened while on a small road . Got it home spoke to mechanic he informed me of recall s89 and immediately said it was electrical or computer possibly I reached out to Chrysler and they instructed me to take to dealership to submit my VIN for recall I contacted dealership they essentially told me no we don't do that. This was out of nowhere with no warning I did try to start vehicle a few minutes later it started up.
The car stalls while driving it down the road at more then 20mph and it's very dangerous because it does it with no light or any indication that something is wrong. I believe it's completely electrical but I'm taking it in to the mechanics tomorrow. I was driving down a highway when it stalled on me thankfully I was on the slow lane and was able to pull to the side but not before someone almost rear ending me.
Heating core went out; leaked water at 220f onto bare foot while driving. Just had part replaced; part is extremely flimsy.
There is a leak somewhere that floods water through the map lights in the roof every time it rains. It has shorted out the entire radio screen where it no longer functions. Took into a dealership to take a look and they said it was fixed 2 times and still continued to leak. I have forums online that hundreds of people have the same exact issue! I will proceed with filing lemon law if this does not get addressed.
I was driving on a road into work at no more than 40/45 mph. My car was at a slight incline when the electronic throttle control light and electronic stability control light came on, and my car powered down to a low level and wouldn't increase its speed. I pulled over to the side of the road, put the car in park and shut it off. I was able to start the car and drive the rest of the way, and the light didn't come back on again.
Driving on the interstate at 75mph when my wife had a red lighting bolt appear on the dash board, at which time the powe dropped off. She had to move across two lanes of trafic with no power. Once it was on the shoulder, she called me in a panic. I went on the internet and found out how to reset the throttle boby assemnbly. The vechilce started back up and was able to drive it home. It was a very dangerous and scray experiance. I called Jeep dealership and to my surprise they was no recall for this issue. The internet was full of people who had this very issue. I call their corporate service line and they confirmed no safety recall exists. They told me they could not confirm whether they would or would not self report this issue.
My vehicle stalls when you push the gas pedal, you have to turn the vehicle off and restart it ,it will also completely stall going down the road going anywhere between 20 to 45 miles per hour.
Vehicle constantly stalls while driving. Even happens when I'm driving on interste and speeds of 70 mph. Vehicle eventually starts back up but this is a huge safety issue. Had the codes ran and came back with an issue with the crankshaft positioning sensor.
When driving over 30-35 mph the vehical struggles to accelerate and down shifts itself to lower geers not allowing the vehicale to go. Even pushing in the gas pedal doesn't work to bring the vehicale back up to speed. Engine light is on 2 lightening strick lights appears tread light comes on code u1407(1/4) stored ac nor heater nurt.
Tried taking my siblings to school and out of no where it wouldn't start I've had no problems since I've had the vehicle and I took it to several places and they couldn't figure out the problem then finally someone figured it out saying it's the computer module.
When starting the vehicle there is a delay in starting then when while driving down the road the vehicle jerks or stalls like it is going to die. Acceleration and deceleration do not seem to make it stop or fix the issue. Occasionally when going up hill the vehicle will hit 4rpm like it is unable to shift and neither acceleration or deceleration fix the issue even after the vehicle is no longer climbing the hill. There are no check engine lights on and no codes to be read. I have tried gas treatment and taken it to the dealership and 2 mechanics and no one knows why it is doing it or how to stop it.
Both while driving, and while sitting . Vehicle experienced many electrical problems due to slow tipm failure. Over the course of six months. Countless hours and lots of money on diagnostics. And fixing individual components for the problems that were happening. Car was hesitating, bucking, and sporadic idle. Also radio and bluetooth connectability started to glitch. Certain lights would not work. All of these problems were handled individually for the components that normally makes them happen. Only temporarily fixing the problem. The final problem was the cooling fans staying on even when the car was shut off. Checked all involved circuitry. Everything was fine including relays. Finally settled on the tipm being bad. Jeep then tried to gouge me on the price. Ultimately wanting to charge about $1,600 for the diagnosis and fix. Including $700 just for the part. I located a new oem parts through a third party for $250. And a simple plug-and-play install, corrected all problems with vehicle. Dealership then tried to say the part needed to be programmed. So they could charge $200 for a service that is completely unnecessary. If you get the right tipm for the exact model and options. A soft reset can be done by simply using the ignition key. It is very poor business practice by Chrysler corporation. And they are taking advantage of many unsuspecting customers. Often paying upwards of over $4,000 in one year for misdiagnosed and overpriced services.
My roof is leaking when it rains hard under the dome light into the light on the dashboard and is getting into the radio/navigation system. Also is leaking from the roof on the passenger side dashboard.
My car shuts down while driving. The stability light goes on and the engine dies while on the road.
This vehicle is a lemon it almost caused a fatality it backfired and all the lights came on it's been pulling and out of line since day one bought new. . . . . Sensors have been replaced three times and now in shop for electrical sensor $1400.
2016 Patriot with,54,000 miles. No major issues prior. 2 weeks ago however, I was left stopped in the middle of a highway entrance ramp, almost rear-ended by a semi and side swiping a construction sign to avoid being hit. When accelerating the etc symbol (lightening bolt) will display, traction control icon and check engine light will display. The Jeep completely stops accelerating (highway speed to 0 mph within seconds=deadly), it will shake before just dying. If I'm lucky I'll make it to the shoulder (if it happens to have one). Through google research, I came across a way to do a "reset" (turn car off, insert key and turn "on", press gas pedal slowly, release slowly, turn car off and then restart the engine). Doing this typically clears the icons and I'm able to travel again. This intermittently happens, so you never know when you're potentially about to be involved in an accident from stopping in the middle of the roadway. When driving on city/town roads, it has not completed stopped as stated above, but will "jump" when switching gears, then throw the etc symbol. If I let off the gas, the icon goes away and car runs normal. I took it to a mechanic 1 day ago and was told to get a new battery. The battery was changed 1 day ago and the issue occurred multiple times today. Through online searches it appears this is a terribly common issue that Jeep has yet to address! someone is going to end up losing their life because of this malfunction. There appears to be no way of knowing this is going to happen or any preventative measures that a typical person would know to take to avoid this deadly malfunction. As easy as it is to just take it to a mechanic, that is not financially possible for everyone and in this situation needs to be addressed by Jeep as it is recurring issue and is deadly. Nothing as a vehicle owner would avoid this from occurring.
11/27/18-broken wire at at pcm / 05/16/19-had to replace faulty win module /06/20/19-dealer suggested replace engine harness due to corrosion opted for repair kit .
While driving the car runs rough. I've scanned the car and no codes come up. I was driving and the etc light flashed and it felt like the time went out. I was afraid that my car went out of time. While driving and shifting the transmission sometimes slips out of gear prematurely. I was driving straight when all of these problems happened.
I purchased a used 2016 Jeep Patriot latitude 11 months ago it only had 32,000 when I bought it less than a month later I started having weird issues with my Jeep dying while driving or wind shield wipers coming on by themselves as well as my a/c going off and on and my head lights flickering off and on. . . Took it to the dealer and it was a faulty tipm they replaced it with "supposedly a new one" under warranty and now less than 9 months later started having the same issues again!.
I am driving the Jeep is on the highway, doing 60 mph one week after I had bought the Jeep in may 2016 and it automatically started going faster on it's own, with the rpm indicator going clockwise. It would not slow down on its own so I had to drive to the access road and put emergency brake on. Once I was able to start the vehicle again it reset itself and performed normally. This has occurred 5 times since I have owned it, including July 25, 2018 when it happened again last week. Last year I had it checked and was told a sensor light was out, so they "fixed" it. It is still happening. The dashboard indicators are constantly flashing. They told me they reset them also. It is still occurring, also.
