While driving down the highway the head rest deployed on the driver side. There was no rear ended accident or anything like a warning, it just went off. I’ve seen that this has happened to a lot of Jeep vehicles and this is extremely dangerous. Someone else was driving my car and hit them in the beck of the head very hard. Thankfully nothing serious came from this such as, us crashing since the highway we were driving on speed limit was 75mph. It’s not fixable at home and should be recalled ASAP as it’s extremely expensive to get this fixed as well as extremely dangerous to randomly go off while driving!!.

The active head restraint on the passenger side spontaneously deployed while parked. There was no impact leading up to this event. The head restraint appears to have failed due to a faulty plastic clip that split in half. The head restraint is at the height of my passenger's head and, if they had been seated in the chair, the deployed headrest would have hit them at the base of the skull or delivered a blow to the left or right cheekbone and eye. I took the vehicle to my nearest Jeep dealership (rhythm Jeep in madison, TN) and they confirmed that the clip holding the release pin in place spontaneously failed. They documented the damage and ordered a new headrest which has not yet been fulfilled (a 9-month wait so far). There were no warning signals or any other indication that the head restraint would fail. Our concern is that the driver's side head restraint will also fail and cause the driver to crash the vehicle or suffer head and neck injury.
Random deployment of passenger seat avr. Vehicle was stationary and unoccupied.
On 12/26/2020 I was driving down the interstate and my son lightly touched his headrest and it exploded open. I didn't realize at the time it was covered under the "x-86" extended warranty, and attempted in January 2021 to buy a replacement. Mopar canceled my order and told me to go through the dealership since it is a known issue. I did just that, and the order has been on hold since January or February of 2021. Chrysler customer service doesn't have a resolution for me, and won't talk to me anymore. Their department that specifically deals with this "x-86" issue won't even call or update my dealership stew hansen's, which is located at 12103 hickman rd, urbandale, IA 50323. I am appalled and just want my headrest replacement. The parts manager found one in stock, but coincidentally it doesn't have the correct part number that Chrysler wants to honor to fix this for me. Chrysler is unwilling to make an exception for the part number and rectify this defective part. I want answers now. Please note that I have gotten married since this incident, and the dealership has my case filed under my maiden name weis, not mcdowell.
Both passenger and driver head rest bust open while driving - almost causing an accident.
The passenger head rest popped put while being parked in the drive way. Ive seen many complaints on line and no recalls for it. But appears to be a problem with the plastic pin breaking inside of the head rest and it deploying with out any impact. No one was sitting there thankfully otherwise they woulda got whacked by it.
While driving, my passenger side seat head rest exploded and is now unable to go back together.
Hit a small pot hole & my passenger seat head rest popped open & came apart. There is no way that I can see to put it back together; it's not easily closed & I dont want to break it.
The system that monitors whether a passenger is in the passenger seat malfunctions and causes the seatbelt to show unbuckled therefore turning the airbag off in case of an accident. This specific piece of equipment has been recalled on similar vehicles in the same year but my VIN was not selected and my dealership wanted me to pay in order to fix it because it was a safety risk.
Water leaks from the light above the dash. It is very dangerously distracting while driving, but also has fried my stereo/computer once already. It has now soaked all of the front interior and has started to affect my electrical system. Have taken it into the dealership three times in the last two years and they cannot find or fix the problem. It happens when it rains, but not always, it builds up and collects somewhere and comes out at various times. . While stationary or driving. . . The worst is while driving and turning corners, it wil pour out water onto the driver or the passenger side depending on the turn.

Bought a used Jeep Patriot 2008. My Jeep is garage kept, but when I am at work, and it rains, the sunroof leaks. I did some research online and I see that is a common problem. Just wanted my vehicle added to let them know my sunroof leaks.

When front seats are pushed back fully there are razor sharp metal rails exposed. There are plastic covers installed that are equally sharp and catch on soes, clothing and skin. Both my husband and I have drawn blood on our shins several times. I have attempted to resolve with Jeep and they advise there is nothing they can do.

My 2008 Jeep Patriot has been in the shop a collective 18 times over 87 days. It is currently still in the shop since last week. I have had it in 9 times for the sunroof leaking and 7 times to replace electrical items that shorted out because of the leaking sunroof. It first started to have this problem after 3 months 8/2008 and 2700 miles. I am tried of the dealership asking to give them one more try for the last year and a half. They keep blowing me off. As of 1/29/10 it back in the shop again for a leaking sunroof. I talked to the service manager at the dealership and he stated that they have tried and replaced everything in the sunroof assembly and it still leaks and is ruining my electrical system, my leather seats and carpeting. I do not want this vehicle to have and electrical fire down the road with all the issues it is continuing to have. Please help!.
Seat slider & ball joints Jeep Patriot 2007 4x4 & rear suspension---reported seat coming out of locked position after having to hit break a little hard in forward and also happened in reverse. Made 3 complaints to the same dealer and finally had it replaced. Reported to same dealer about noise in the front and rear of car, after having to replace all 4 tires at 19,000 miles because they were bald. Dealer said nothing was wrong however young lad that installed tires said ball joints were loose and rear end was seized. Never been off road and commute to work is 10 miles one way on expressway. Included is complaint about tires, goodyear 205/70r16 all season. Lasted 19,000 miles and all were bald. Rotated every 5,000 miles and because they are the only ones that make that tire size besides dunlop had no choice but to replace them with the same as I'm canadian here and dunlop is not readily available. Other alternative was to buy all new rims and tires in 17". Am currently fighting with Chrysler to fix the suspension issues since the dealer was aware of it well within the warranty period. I encourage everyone to report problems here and to the head office of the company and don't give up until you receive satisfaction. They ask for us to bail them out, then show responsibility and use better quality parts to build the product.
