general problems of the 2015 Jeep Renegade - part 1

When starting the car and letting it warm up for 2 minutes. The vehicle shifts hard or takes it time to shift into next gear, and while idling for less than 5 minutes, the car warms up 32 degrees. Which I do not believe the fan motor is working properly. Also took car to dealership blown trans and engine mounts.

The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

Complaint summary: I brought my 2015 Jeep Renegade trailhawk (VIN: [xxx] ) to autonation cdjr roseville on may 17, 2025, for the u90 emissions recall. The catalytic converter was replaced, and the pcm software was updated. However, the u0402 diagnostic trouble code (implausible data received from tcm) remains stored. This code has been persistent and prevents the vehicle from passing California emissions, which is required for my registration as the car was transferred from out-of-state. The service advisor initially stated that the tcm was updated, but later corrected himself and admitted the tcm already had the latest version and was not reprogrammed. I have not been given written confirmation that the tcm software or wiring was verified or addressed. I am concerned the dealership is refusing to properly resolve this under recall and is instead recommending a full transmission replacement without supporting mechanical codes or verifying the emissions system software/communication is compliant. I’m requesting fca’s assistance, and the bar in California to enforce the complete and proper execution of the u90 recall and resolution of the u0402 code under recall scope. I have a u90 recall on my vehicle. I have contacted Jeep dealerships and the Jeep corp regarding this issue. I have been told that the parts are on back order and it will be months possibly a year to complete this recall. This is my daily driver and dmv won’t re register the vehicle without the recall being repaired. This is unacceptable. This is my daily driver and has passed smog no issues.

Car randomly stalls in park, when reversing, when in drive but brake is being applied, or when first accelerating after putting into drive. Several times now it has stalled when I'm at stop lights. One time it stalled after just tapping the brake while approaching a stop light. That was terrifying because the car was still in motion. Also, car randomly jerks hard when shifting gears. Recently, car doesn't want to shift while accelerating up hills, and rpm's can get up to 4. 5 or 5. No engine light or other warnings lights ever come on. I have brought it to my mechanic two times now about the hard shifting and stalling. Have another appointment this week. They can't figure out what's causing it. Nor can they replicate the problem. This can happen a few times a day, then go weeks without an issue. I've seen the same problems from dozens of people on Jeep forums for 2015 -2017 models. No one had a solution, while seemingly getting brushed off by the dealerships about it.

Motor mounts were damaged and car would shake excessively. Got them replaced and they were broken again 3 months later. I have seen several people with the same issue on reddit in Jeep Renegades models 2015-2016. I was in a fender bender on 8/4/2023 and car was fine for a few days and then it started throwing the engine around again. Mechanic assured me it is not related to accident. While return home from trip motor started running rough. Took to Dodge dealership they confirmed no compression on #3 cylinder and low compression on #4. The motor was replaced on 7/19/23. Invoice cost of $8946. 18.

I had issues that I thought were the transmission but after experiencing this repeatedly I took it in to the dealer where I bought it they said they couldn’t find a problem next time it was software updates and fixed then next time still cutting out said motor mounts were broken $1,300 fixed it I finally understood that it was actually stopping!! I’m not very car savvy thought it was me!! I almost got clobbered when I pulled out onto a very busy street and I’m not very Smart I guess just started it again I realized there was a problem. I’m very good at oil changes and maintenance my people alerted me to the excessive oil use. I checked it often and they always added oil. Between changes. Long story short it just stopped! no start had it towed fixed $2,592. Made it home wouldn’t start towed again next morning fixed it again a valve actuator $1,740 for the part again it failed in 30 miles towed again the part was shipped wrong apparently shipped wet no idea what that means dealer roberson will warranty the part but it’s sitting there broken again and I’m not sure if they fix it again if it will be dependable? it scares me I don’t know what to do! fix it a third time? quickly sell it? I can’t do that! I had to buy another another car I couldn’t afford it’s just sitting there can you help me? I’d be so grateful if you could. I read about the problems with this motor and law suits I can’t qualify for because of their time limits I’m just at the end of my rope with this car that I loved. Now I’m afraid of it. The contact stated while driving 75 mph, the vehicle decelerated to 15 mph and failed to accelerate as needed. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that a multi-air actuator replacement was needed. The part was on backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that dtc: p0304, p106b, and p1064 were retrieved and were related to the failure. The manufacturer was contacted, but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 145,000.

Transmission when driving it sticks in 9 gear. Loss power. Two years ago the value body was replaced, then 2-3 months ago it started the same loss of power dealer checked found nothing said to drive it see if it happens again. Two week ago took it back in to the dealer and they replaced the valve body for a 2nd time. Left the shop a few hours later the same thing happened again. Driving the highway and no power. Took it right back to the dealer on Saturday. Have not heard anything from them yet. The transmission service light goes on and the check engine light.

I bought a 2015 Jeep Renegade in October of 2021 (last year) and have experienced the vehicle stalling twice in the middle of traffic. I was informed of the recall by carmax after the deal was drawn up and the vehicle delivered to me on October 4, 2021. I took the vehicle to class Jeep in arlington, texas, (see attached documents) who refused to replace the engine of the vehicle – the reason for the recall. I have done all that I can do and exhausted every means necessary to have the recall completed and the vehicle replaced or repaired to bring up to operating standard. I currently owe $21,000. 00 on a vehicle that is non-operable. Carvana delivered the car with a rotted battery (paperwork attached); and, a faulty brake job (where new brakes had been put on top of bad rotors) which they felt $200. 00 should cover the cost for a $1100 brake repair/replacement. Carvana also refused to replace the transmission on the vehicle which they identified as the source of the ‘stalling-out’ in the midst of traffic when the vehicle would not shift gears to accelerate. The justification was because ‘a module is on top of the transmission instead of inside of it’ and it’s not an engine problem; therefore, refused to repair or replace. Essentially, I have been told that the vehicle which is a safety hazard and threat to life is no longer their concern. Please advise – both the dealership and the manufacturer have taken the position that the operating problems of this vehicle is that ‘of the other’s…’ and no one wanting to just take ownership that the vehicle is faulty and fix it, repair it, or take it out of circulation on the market for sell to unsuspecting consumers. Requested resolution: I am requesting repair or replacement of this vehicle; or, buyback with no negative adverse action on my credit worthiness. My choice is not simply, “you can return it” as I was told – which will result in a ‘repossession’ appearing on my credit report.

Vehicle throttle lags from a take off causing dangerous conditions while merging on to highway and turning on busy city streets.

The vehicle engine has been shaking moderately since we purchased it. The dealer told us that is just the way the vehicle sounds and feels. Recently it has begun to shake more while stopped in traffic or at a light. The dealer told us the engine mount was broken. The vehicle has only 33,354 miles. This is a safety issue as the engine could become dislodged and cause an accident as well as the fluids would be a hazardous materials exposure endangering potential wildlife. Jeep originally told me it was covered under warranty and then later changed their mind. Either way it is a defective part of the power train and dangerous.

Excess moisture causing condensation freezing in the muffler assembly and not allowing engine to start. Was stranded for 2 days. Had Jeep towed to dealership after a few hours dealership was able to contact a certified Jeep dealer and diagnose the problem. No warning lights on the dash came on at all not even the check engine light. In doing research and talking with dealership this is a very well known issue as well as there are service bulletins on this issue. As well as speaking with lots of people online they have had this issue as well. Why is there no campagin or recall on this issue.

The evaporative emissions system (evap system), including components such as the charcoal canister, purge valve, and/or fuel tank venting system, appears to be malfunctioning. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. After refueling the vehicle completely, it will stall or shut off unexpectedly while driving, which could cause a collision, particularly in traffic or at highway speeds. This sudden loss of power places myself, my passengers, and other drivers at significant risk. The vehicle has been inspected by an independent mechanic, but not by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. No warning lights, error messages, or advance symptoms were present prior to the vehicle stalling. The issue first occurred around 2022.

Outside temperature sensor fail in temperature under 31 degrees which causes check engine light to come on and disables four wheel drive to engage while driving in snowy conditions. Took Jeep to dealership repair cost $600 for a vehicle I’ve only owned for 25 days with 51,000 miles, they informed me that later down the road I will have to repeat this process again because this is a very common expensive problem in Jeep forum.

The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who indicated that the vehicle shut-off due to low engine oil. An oil consumption test was performed, and no failure was found. The contact indicated that the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who determined that the engine consumed an excessive amount of engine oil, causing the vehicle to shut-off. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 110,000.

The 2015 Jeep Renegade has had a vibrating sensation since I purchased it used in 2021 from an auto dealership. The vibrations got stronger as time went on. The issue was finally determined what caused the vibrations in may, 2025 and confirmed by an independent mechanic. The vehicle was inspected by a Jeep dealer previously. The vehicle was not inspected by the police or insurance representatives. The auto needed a new engine motor mount. A new one was installed on the front right side, engine mount. The auto is available for inspection. My safety and the safety of others was put at risk because a failed mount leads to excessive engine movement, which can damage other components, affect handling, and lead to accidents.

Vehicle overheating due to non functioning radiator fan. There was a recall on same model, but none listed for my specific VIN. Unknown as to when symptoms first appeared. Vehicle overheats more when car is stopped/in idle.

My vehicle's passenger tire was improperly mounted by the manufacturer. It has led to the engine mounts becoming worn, causing the camshaft to be worn at only 71,213 miles, and the drive shaft becoming broken. This has been documented by a repair shop and a Jeep dealership service center says that this is the third time that they have seen this issue and attribute it to the tire being improperly mounted by the factory. This is also a known issue documented in videos and online forums. This is a matter of safety and could cause catastrophic failure while driving. The manufacturer has been notified but have not yet acknowledged that this warrants a recall, which it should.

I am replacing my coolant fan for the third time! I am replacing my day running light for the seventh time. The coolant fan stop running again. This is the third time in less than two years. I have been taking my car to the dealership with the same complaint for over 2 yrs. They charge me for things that they say its not under warranty. I pay but car continues the same as I brought it in. I had to call "corporate" so they can get involved and help me, they did and in a way I was punished by keeping the car for a month and when I asked to get it back they kept telling me they are waiting on parts. At one point my granddaughter got sick (lives with me) and I called them I need my car soon my kid is sick and I was told "get an ubber". Finally after a month I get my car and now is worse than ever. My daughter was driving and car smelled like smoke, all the lights on dashboard started going crazy, the air conditioner went dead and vehicle stopped. I have spent so much money complaining about the same thing and now im without a car again. I need help please. I lost my job and now I had to sell my home due to this pandemic. Im suppose to leave and move to another state this coming weekend and I have no car to leave. How can anyone help me, please.

Car shutting off while driving due to oil being low, however there is no indication that oil needs to be changed and within mileage limit.

Vehicle VIN: zaccjabt0fpb53249, Jeep Renegade, 57000 miles I purchased a Jeep Renegade for my wife at dennis eakin in killeen. To make a long story short, the dealership ran into a VIN error that we were told was fixed, but it never was because we remain having issues with insurance. I work in law enforcement and looked up NHTSA documentation that says the dealership should contact the manufacturer upon finding a discrepency and apparently this was never done. The dealership also told us the Jeep was in a minor accident and we found out the crash was worse than minor, the vehicle has electrcal issues and only one key fob. We were promissed another key fob made, but have just got the runaround since purchase. The vehicle will not lock sometimes and we are worried it will not unlock during an emergency. The vehicle continually tells us the key fob is not in the vehcile while driving and while stationary. The Jeep also has transmission issues we were never told about. The dealership will not respond to these issues and I need to find someone to help. I have gone up there and spoke to the manager at sales and at parts/service. I have a hard time putting gas in the car though it was the pump but it's everywhere I go and it eats up a lot of gas. The electrical messed up sometimes it won't start I got a new battery and everything but the service people said it has to be electrical my keys never work I have to manually use key and lock the door from inside my gears the engine ideals high and car jerks sometimes when I'm taking off.

The vehicle is designed with a sensor to notify us when an oil change is due. There is no recommended oil change schedule. Several times my car has begun to run low on oil but the oil change sensor has not registered this or advised me to change my oil even when th e car was not operating properly and had to be towed.

I got up to get ready to go to choir rehearsal my Jeep would not crank, and the key was stuck in the switch, it took almost 30 minutes to get the key out, finally the Jeep cranked but I could not get the gear to go into reverse, drive or nothing, and on the dash board where it tells you how many miles you have on the automobile it was blinking and also on the dash board it say service transmission. . I have read on your site as I was searching to find out why this is happening, so many of these Jeep seem to do this when they reach 40 thousand miles. I am grateful that I was not on the road because the day before this happen the Jeep seem to have lost speed ifor a brief moment, this is very dangerous something need to be done about this.

Car will fail sporadically to accelerate while trying to merge into traffic I was almost hit by other vehicles more than once I've talked to others with the same car and all of them described the same exact experience it's only a matter of time before someone is killed.

Just bought this used - good condition except that it literally "lunges" forward when you accelerate, typically going from 1st to 2nd gear. There is a definite hesitation between the time you press the gas pedal and the time it takes to move forward. When taking a left turn into cross traffic I have to make sure I have extra time to account for the loss of acceleration.

I was driving on the freeway and my car started losing power then started jerking and shaking the car. I couldn't speed up, I could hear the engine revving up but nothing. I had to pull over and turn off car and start back up, I still couldn't hit 60mph I the freeway so I got off the freeway and took the streets home. When running the car under 30mph the car was fine but once I hit the higher gears my car would shake or just down shift on its on.

Intermittently, the power steering would go out and service airbag light would come on dashboard. After several times restarting the car, the car power steering would continue to go out and light come on. After about 4 hours, the car was turned off on a city street, all running lights and radio stayed on, keys were removed, and car was completely unresponsive to keys, key fab, or buttons on door such as power locks/ windows. Car was towed to dealership for service.

The engine coolant fan keeps burning out, having my second fan replaced at 62,000 miles.

The coolant fan went off track and started squealing and getting stuck, causing the fuse to blow. Within a month, and after replacing the fuse 3 times, the fan motor stopped working and burnt up completely. Attempted to replace it with another fan, and it blew the fuse again and burnt up the new fan motor also. Also, within the last month (today being 9/20/2018) my car has been jumping and shaking when in drive mode. Mainly occurs after speeds of 40+ mph have been reached and when vehicle has been driven for a longer length of time.
