The poor design of the gas tank rollover safety float ball in this vehicle continues to allow gasoline to splash back out of the gas filler neck of the vehicle every single time at an auto shut off fueling nozzle is used. This is a known defect but which they offered a remedy that had an age or mileage limit. This is a gross safety hazard and should warranty t a recall before some one blows up.
Every time I fill the gas tank fuel spills out the filler neck causing a significant fuel spill. The Jeep is stationary and on level ground at the gas station.
When having to fill up on gas it is overflowing. Even if you set the control on the pump, when you pull out the nozzle, gas is spilling all over the Jeep, floor and has even has spilled all over myself. This full tank needs to be recalled for the safety of all consumers.
When you fill the tank with gas, the pump doesn't shut off resulting in gas leaking onto the side of the vehicle as well as the ground. It looks like there have been multiple complaints about this problem from others that have this same vehicle. Image read it is a faulty design and faulty ivc .
The contact owns a 2005 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that fuel would spill from the tank each time the vehicle was re-fueled. The failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. It was diagnosed that the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 28,000.
The gas tank will overflow when fueling the vehicle.
Every time I fill my gas tank, the fuel "burps" back and anywhere from one to two quarts of gas is spilled.
I own a 2005 Jeep Wrangler unlimited (lj) that I purchased in March of this year. From day 1, like many others, when I fill the vehicle's fuel tank, the pump will not shut off, causing fuel to spray / spill out and run down the body onto the ground. This is obviously a fire and environmental hazard and needs to be checked into. Don't even get me started on the death wobble.
During fill up of the fuel tank, fuel sprays out of the filler hole resulting in a heath hazard, fire hazard, & environmental hazard. This needs to be addressed!.
Fuel over flows when fueling the vehicle at gas station fuel blows out of the tank all over the ground. . This is a environmental issue. . And fire hazard.
Just purchased this used Jeep Wrangler unlimited rubicon about 2 1/2 months ago and everytime I fill the gas tank, fuel pukes back out the filler opening and runs down the side all over the ground before the gas pump can shut off. Seems really dangerous not to mention making a big, embarrassing mess. It does not matter where I refuel, happens at all gas stations.
Every time when fueling the car, the gas tank overflows. The shut off valve is faulty. The Jeep boards have many documented incidents of this occurring. The car is a 2005 but only has 20,000 miles on it. There are recalls for 2007 and newer but nothing for my car which is a 2005. The response from Jeep is it is the fault of the gas. Ethanol causes the shut off valve to expand. From my perspective it's faulty engineering.
When refueling, once the fuel tank is full the service station fuel supply hose nozzle clicks off, then a surge of fuel expels from the Jeep fuel tank fill port splashing onto the vehicle exterior, onto myself, and onto the ground. This is a serious fire hazard. It appears to be a common problem with the Jeep Wrangler across many years, with no resolution to date.
Each time I fuel my Jeep if I let the gas automatically run it will not click the pump off when the gas tank is full. It continues to run overflowing everywhere.
Gas overflows and rushes out when pumping gas when tank becomes full.
Tl-the contact owns a 2005 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated the fuel tank filler neck failed. The fuel spilled to the ground, while the fuel tank was filled. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; the fuel tank filler neck was replaced; however the failure was not corrected. The fuel continued to spill to the ground while the fuel tank was filled. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 75,344 and the approximate current mileage was 76,000. Li.
I just bought this Jeep 2 weeks ago, every time I go to fill up with gas, no matter which gas station I am at the gas always comes spewing out. I have tried many things, even positioning the gas handle at different angles ect. I have done a lot of research and it seems this is a faulty fuel tank/evap. That needs to be replaced to fix this. I have talked to dealer ships saying that the tank needs to be replaced. In my opinion this should be a recall. My Jeep only has 37000 miles on it, and I already have to replace the fuel tank!? I think Jeep/Chrysler needs to foot the bill on this one. . .
Gas tank valve seems to be stuck open, every time I fill up gas spills out. If it spills out when pumping, what keeps it from spilling out in a rollover or crash?.
When I fill up my tank at the gas station, the auto fill won't click off until the gas tank is overfilled, and sprays out, then runs down the side of my Jeep. It doesn't matter if I use their auto fill notches and walk away or hold it by hand, the gas wont click off until the tank has overflowed. It spills between a liter and a pint each time.
Tank overflows and sends gas flying through the air, all over the person pumping, and the ground, at every fill up.
Fuel system does not respond to a shut-off mechanism. Every time we fill up the gas on our 2005 Wrangler unlimited, gas will come back out and spill down the side of the Jeep and sometimes spray surrounding area. So if you are standing anywhere near it, most likely you will have gas all over yourself. We are the second owners of the 2005 Wrangler that only had 5500 miles on it when we bought the Jeep and now have about 7500 miles and have seen this issue every time we fill the gas tank. Dealership wants $1400. 00 to replace plus labor.
Everytime I fill the gas tank the gas overflow on to the ground after the gas hose shuts off.
Every time I pump gas it overflows. The flapper in the top of the gas tank isn't working correctly. This is apparently an issue for the majority of 05 and 06 models. Chrysler decided to fix the 07-08 models and do nothing for the 05-06.
Filled up fuel tank, when it got to the top it didn't shut off without spilling out. Now it does it all the time.
While fueling this vehicle, as the tank got full and the pump shut off, the fuel belched out, at first I thought it was the gas pump so I have tried different gas stations, it has now gotten to the point where it does it every time, at every different gas station. I looked on the internet and found that it is a common problem with plenty of video to support these complaints, what is difficult to understand is why you aren't doing anything about it. Other government agencies have forced all gas stations to limit/recover fugitive emissions, but all this video evidence isn't enough to support a recall of all affected vehicles?.
Each time I fill the gas tank, gas gushes out all over the side of my Jeep and sometimes on myself. I am afraid that sooner or later I'm going to catch on fire. Please help.
Every-time I fill up my gas tank it overflows and spills out violently.
Gas tank overflows everytime I fill up. Doesn't matter what gas station I go to, the gas always spits out of the tank and all over the side of the car before the pump stops. Something is wrong with the tank or an internal check valve which should prevent this. I can never fill the gas tank up full because of this issue. The only fix I have found through research is a brand new gas tank, which is ridiculous.
I am experiencing fuel spit-back during every refueling of my vehicle. I purchased a replacement tank and the problem has again occurred on the replacement fuel tank. I am considering a class action lawsuit against Chrysler to fix this problem with 2005-2006 Jeep Wranglers as well as the 2007-2008 Jeep Wranglers. I know a recall for this same issue is in effect for the 2007-2008 Jeep Wranglers. . Read more...
I own a 2005 Jeep Wrangler unlimited rubicon. Nearly every time I fill up at a gas station the gas nozzle does not click off when the tank is near full and gas runs down over the side of the car, the fender and onto the ground (and sometimes onto clothes/shoes). I have owned the Jeep for almost a year now (I am the second owner) and it has done this ever since I purchased it.
4/2009-fuel spitting out when gassing up ( when filled, does not stop) took to dealership. States d/t bad vent valve. Installed a new tank. In 2013- started back doing the same thing and continues. I have to gauge, when I think it's filled and stop.
Fuel filler overflows when fueling tank, every time.
Fuel spits out of the refuel receptacle every time I fill the tank.
When refueling my Jeep has always belched gasoline back out of the fuel filler neck when the gas pump automatically shuts off when the tank gets full. This could easily cause a disaster & my wife is afraid to put fuel in it. I thought that mine was the only one to do this, but talking with other owners, I have discovered that all similar Jeeps have the same dangerous defect.
