1 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem

Failure Date: 01/26/2018

Gas tank overflow. Anytime I fill my tank, a large amount of gasoline shoots back out of the tank, dripping down the side of my car, and often splashing me or gas attendant. Not only is this dangerous, it is also damaging the plastic and paint on my car, as well as wasting gas.

2 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2016

As the fuel tank is being filled with fuel and the fuel pump cuts off when the tank is full, the tank allows a significant amount of fuel to be "burped" out of the fuel filler onto the vehicle, ground, and the person filling the vehicle. This occurs every time the tank is filled at every fuel depot.

3 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem

Failure Date: 02/21/2013

Every time I go to fill up my gas tank- once the fuel pump reaches the full amount the fuel starts coming out of the tank spilling all over the side of my Wrangler and sometimes on my shoes. Even when I slow pump the gas into the tank, once it reaches a certain point (which I can never tell because most vehicles make the gas pump click off once full) it almost always automatically purges itself.

4 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem

Failure Date: 02/13/2013

About 1 year ago the gas tank started over flowing when I put gas in. I initially thought it was a pump problem but it got worse over time. When I fill the tank it over flows about a cup of gas. When I contacted the dealer they knew about the problem and said it happens on some Jeeps. The problem is the roll over valve sticks open. The only fix is to replace the complete gas tank - $1,250. 00. Neither the dealer nor Chrysler would take responsibility for fixing the problem although Chrysler acknowleded it was a design defect not a manufacturing defect. If there are 1 million Jeeps on the road with this problem, their drivers fill up once a week, and spill a cup each that amounts to 60 thousand gallons of gas dumped into the environment a week. Seems like Chrysler should be more concerned about the problem and either you or the epa should encourage them to take ownership.

5 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2011

Each time I fill up my gas tank with fuel, the fuel overflows out of the tank. As I am not the original owner of the vehicle, I am filing this complaint only after learning from many other Jeep owners they also experience this issue. It seems very dangerous for this amount of fuel to be spilled (and spewed) from the gas tank, the only way to prevent it is to monitor the gallons going in and stop it manually which, unfortunately, is not always a successful approach. Thanks!.

6 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem

Failure Date: 09/14/2010

Approximately 1 year after purchasing my used 2005 Wrangler, gas started to overflow from the filler tube upon fueling. The first time this occurred, I thought it was a defective pump shut-off at the station until it happened the next time and the next and so on. I have been dealing with this for at least 2 years with no resolve. A good amount of gas will spill out of the tank once the tank has reached capacity, spraying gas all over the vehicle and the ground. This can be minimized by slowing the flow from the nozzle, but there is no way to tell when the tank is going to be full or not. This is not only a safety issue as there is now a volatile substance on the ground, but an environmental issue as there is now gasoline that could easily enter the ground water. It is unacceptable that Chrysler is aware of this problem, has admitted that it affects other model years yet refuses to accept further responsibility.
